FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTIONS OF THE WEEK (SEPT. 3, 2021)

The Rocklin Storm made it rain while their football team made rain on the scoreboard in their 69-8 victory over Davis on Friday.

We are now underway with Student Sections in all our 6 regions as the Arizona, Oregon and Washington football season is underway.

Now, Washington, Arizona and Oregon aren’t aware of us yet, but give it time, we will get there. Salpointe Catholic Lancer Legion of Tucson took the first Arizona Football Student Section of the Week.

Glacier Peak of Snohomish took the first Washington Football Student Section while Lakeridge of Lake Oswego took the first Oregon Football Student Section of the Week title.

Patrick Henry Hooligans of San Diego took the Southern California Football title while McQueen of Reno took Nevada and the Rocklin Storm took Northern California.

We have about 10 more weeks of Student Section of the Week voting, so if you’re Student Section didn’t make the Final 4, not to worry, you have plenty of time to make the cut!

The McQueen student section are all smiles after the Lancers 58-6 victory over Douglas on Friday.

You guys are the Nevada Student Section of the Week, beating out Boulder City, Bishop Manogue and the Palo Verde Jungle. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Nevada?

McQueen: Our school makes a lot of different spirit shirts, so everyone can dress up! We also have spirit buckets where leadership throws out different bead necklaces and foam fingers which hypes up the student section. This year a lot of students bought megaphones for the games which gets everyone riled up!

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the student section?

McQueen: Memorable games are always the Reno High VS McQueen games because that is our rival! Both schools get really excited and everyone is always on the edge of their seat. The 2019 game was very memorable because McQueen won the game and the whole student section flooded the field afterwards.

Favorite theme?

McQueen: McQueens favorite theme is blackout because then the seniors get to wear their senior jerseys or shirts! We can also do colorful face paint at this game, which makes it stand out more!

Favorite chant?

McQueen: McQueen’s favorite chant is definitely the fight song. This is our favorite because we all sing it after touchdowns at football games and wins of any sports game.

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

McQueen: A student section that we all think looks really good is the Manogue student section. There are always so many people decked out in spirit wear and they all look like they have so much fun. We play them on Friday in football, so we are excited to see our student sections compare!

This is not a one-person operation. We know a lot of people took a part in this. Who would you like to thank for making McQueen the best this week?

McQueen: McQueen would like to thank the Leadership Class for getting the word out on when games are being held in the week. A big thanks goes out to our Media Committee who makes all the social media posts. We also want to thank our whole student body for showing up to the games and supporting teams! We couldn’t do it without all the students and student-athletes!

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA STUDENT SECTION OF THE WEEK: Rocklin Storm

You guys are the Northern California Student Section of the Week, beating out the Woodcreek Wolfpack, Roseville Tiger Cage and the Lincoln Zebras. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Northern California?

Storm: I think the activities we do involve the Storm & how much everyone participates is what makes us stand out. We have unique chants & cheers, and when we blast music everyone shouts and it doesn’t miss a beat.

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the student section?

Storm: Quarry Bowl 2019 was the most memorable football game. All of Rocklin High School showed up to the game at Whitney. The most spirited game ever, we were beyond loud & it was a blue sea.

Favorite theme?

Storm: Our favorite theme is either Blackout or our USA theme. These two themes are what people go all out for. These games are usually the most spirited and hype.

The Storm didn’t get bored during the 69-8 victory over Davis on Friday.

Favorite chant?

Storm: Our favorite chants are our “We are Rocklin” & “I believe that we just won/will win!”

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Storm: No, we truly don’t have any competition when it comes to student sections in our area. We know where we stand and we truly know we are the best. We are Rocklin!

This is not a one-person operation. We know a lot of people took a part in this. Who would you like to thank for making the Storm the best this week?

Storm: Our Athletic Director Mr. Spears. We could not have the Storm we do without him. He is the man behind the operation & helps us more than you can imagine. He supply’s us with everything we need and constantly supports us.

You guys are the Southern California Student Section of the Week, beating out the Los Osos Grizzly Nation, Dana Hills Pod Squad and the Valencia Viking Nation. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Southern California?

Hooligans: It took a lot of planning and advertising to get our student section up and running this year considering it’s been over a year since we’ve had one. Something that made this weeks section unique is that it was at an away game. We really showed out for our team and not at our home field!

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the student section?

Hooligans: The most memorable game from our student section has to be in the first round of CIF a few years ago. Our team scored a game-winning touchdown with less than 10 seconds left on the clock.

Favorite theme?

Hooligans: The most popular theme at our student section is easily our green and gold theme to show off our school colors. Whiteout and blackout are also major hits among the students!

The Hooligans getting crazy after the Patriots crazy win on Friday.

Favorite chant?

Hooligans: One of the student sections favorite chants is called Superstar. “P! You know we are… HHS, SUPERSTAR! S! In every way! PHHS!”

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Hooligans: One student section that deserves some recognition is Mt. Carmel High. They really show out for their team!

This is not a one-person operation. We know a lot of people took a part in this. Who would you like to thank for making the Hooligans the best this week?

Hooligans: ASB plays a huge role in our student section. From leading the chants, providing the themes, and decorating the area, they really make it a fun experience!

Lakeridge: Keeping our community updated and involved in our school really contributed to our strengths as Pacers! We stand out because of our Pacer spirit and our good sportsmanship.

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the student section?

Lakeridge: The most memorable game was probably our most recent home game against Sherwood. It was the first football game after a year of online/hybrid classes, so everyone was super pumped up and spirited!

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Lakeridge: Sherwood was a great student section because they were always respectful and their cheer team was super fun to watch, even from the other side of the field. We really appreciated their sportsmanship as opponents!

This is not a one-person operation. We know a lot of people took a part in this. Who would you like to thank for making Lakeridge the best this week?
Lakeridge: We would like to thank everyone who showed up to school and brought their positive attitudes to class! Our school spirit really relies on people that participate and show just how much they love our school, and it clearly shows in our student section!

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the student section?

Glacier Peak: I would have to say when one of our football players broke their arm in a game, and as the game started again our players played harder and were even more determined to win.

Favorite theme?

Glacier Peak: Crazy blue and white because it really shows our school spirit and gives us a chance to show school pride.

This is not a one-person operation. We know a lot of people took a part in this. Who would you like to thank for making Glacier Peak the best this week?

Glacier Peak: We would like to thank the people who helped make it an option to attend a football game this year. Our principal, who held a high standard for school spirit and respect for others. Also all of our teachers, who helped organize and supervise the game. Finally, our upperclassman, who helped teach the underclassmen the chants and cheers and upheld what is expected of us at a game.
