Manny’s CIF Regional Picks: (12/06/19)

MANNY’S CIF STATE REGIONALS PICKS

Last Week Record: 13-12

2019 Record: 215-91-2

Well, this past week was not my week to say the least. I should just stick to Student Sections. Anyway, let’s see how bad I do.

CIF STATE REGIONALS

1-AA

No. 8 Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth (13-1) at No. 3 Helix of La Mesa (11-1), Friday, 7:30pm

Manny’s Pick: Helix

Sierra Canyon took a CIF-SS title against a team coming off a bye week and now run into another team coming off a bye, but this isn’t Chaminade of West Hills. RB Elelyon Noa will be ready and he will lead Helix to the State Finals.

NorCal Bowl: Central of Fresno (13-0) over Oak RIdge of El Dorado Hills (10-2)

1-A

No. 7 Corona del Mar of Newport Beach (14-0) vs. No. 16 Oceanside (11-3) at Newport Harbor of Newport Beach, Saturday, 6pm

Manny’s Pick: Corona del Mar

The Sea Kings are on a roll with QB Ethan Garbers. Garbers will be ready for an Oceanside team that is on a roll at the right time. I’m going with Sea Kings to the State Finals.

NorCal Bowl: Serra of San Mateo (12-1) over San Joaquin Memorial of Fresno (12-1)

2-AA

No. 19 Aquinas of San Bernardino (12-2) at No. 14 San Juan Hills of San Juan Capistrano (11-3), Friday, 7:30pm

Manny’s Pick: Aquinas

This might sound like an upset, but I feel like San Juan Hills should have won by more in the CIF-SS Division IV Finals, so the Falcons should sneak by in this one. Aquinas heads to the State FInals.

NorCal Bowl: Elk Grove (8-5) over Clayton Valley of Concord (8-5)

2-A

No. 18 Pacifica of Oxnard (13-1) at Birmingham of Van Nuys (8-4), Saturday, 6pm

Manny’s Pick: Pacifica

After winning a thriller over La Serna of Whitter to take the CIF-SS Division VI, this won’t be as close with LB Brad Bichard leading the defense. The Tritons head to State.

NorCal: Manteca (11-2) over McClymonds of Oakland (10-0)

3-AA

No. 20 Temecula Valley (12-2) at El Camino of Oceanside (8-6), Friday, 7:30pm

Manny’s Pick: El Camino

El Camino is on a roll and I don’t expect the Wildcats to slow down. El Camino heads to the State Finals in a close one.

NorCal Bowl: Cardinal Newman of Santa Rosa (12-1) over Los Gatos (12-1)

3-A

Sunny Hills of Fullerton (12-2) at Bakersfield Christian (10-3), Saturday, 6pm

Manny’s Pick: Sunny Hills

The Lancers have been winning close road games and that streak should continue. LB Carson Irons should lead the Lancers to another close road win. Sunny Hills is State Finals bound.

NorCal Bowl: Sierra of Manteca (11-3) over Rancho Cotate of Rohnert Park (10-3)

4-AA

Highland of Palmdale (11-3) vs. Selma (11-2) at Antelope Valley College of Lancaster, Friday, 7:30pm

Manny’s Pick: Highland

The Bulldogs has a battle on their hands, but I’ll stick with RB Isaiah Creech and the offense as Highland heads to the State Finals.

NorCal: Ripon (12-1) over Sutter (12-1)

4-A

Marina of Huntington Beach (12-2) vs. La Jolla (9-4) at Westminster, Saturday, 6pm

Manny’s Pick: Marina

After taking their first ever CIF-SS Title in an upset over Muir of Pasadena, the Vikings look to keep the flame going. LB Nathan O’Rourke will lead the Marina defense to the State Title game.

NorCal Bowl: Escalon (12-1) over Pleasant Valley of Chico (7-5)

5-AA

Serra of San Diego (11-2) at El Monte (13-0), Friday, 7:30pm

Manny’s Pick: El Monte

After taking their first CIF-SS title in 89 years, by way of forfeit from their opponent, El Monte is back after a week of rest. RB Davon Booth will lead his freshly rested Lions to the CIF State Title game.

NorCal: Del Norte of Crescent City (12-1) over King’s Academy of Sunnyvale (10-3)

5-A

Esperanza of Anaheim (10-4) vs. Reseda (10-3) at Yorba Linda, Saturday, 6pm

Manny’s Pick: Esperanza

After winning by one and two points in the last two games, the Aztecs will look for a three point win. RB Walter Gooding will lead the Aztecs to another close victory.

NorCal: Caruthers (13-1) over Milpitas (7-6)

6-AA

Canoga Park (12-2) at South Torrance (10-4), Friday, 7:30pm

Manny’s Pick: South

South will look for QB Drew Nash to go to the air often. Nash will do that and lead the Spartans to the State Finals.

NorCal: East Nicolaus (12-1) over St. Bernard’s of Eureka (10-3)

6-A

SoCal: Bishop (12-1) bye

NorCal: Salesian of Richmond (10-2) over Santa Cruz (10-3)

7-AA

Gardena (10-4) at Parker of San Diego (8-5), Friday, 7:30pm

Manny’s Pick: Gardena

So far, I have no CIF-Los Angeles City Section heading to the State Finals…until now. DE Tyron McDaniel will lead Gardena to a close victory.

NorCal: Mariposa County (8-4) over Lincoln of San Francisco (10-1)
