Manny’s World: Week 3 Picks

Hopefully people are reading this because i’m doing pretty well. Anywho, let’s get to my Week 2 picks!

Last Week’s Record: 15-5

Overall Record: 44-16

MANNY’S INLAND EMPIRE GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week IE Record: 4-1

Current IE Record: 12-3

No. 3 Centennial of Corona (3-0) at No. 17 Narbonne of Harbor City (1-2), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Centennial

No matter who is throwing the ball for the Huskies, wide receivers Gary Bryant Jr. and Reggie Retzlaff are benefiting from the duo at QB. It’s going to be a long day for LB Andrew Berrueco and the Narbonne defense. Just like last year, Centennial wins big.

No. 20 Norco (2-1) at Vista Murrieta (1-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Norco

The Cougars have DB Brandon Bos on defense and RB DJ Ford on of the offense and it should more than enough to take out DB Myles Martin and the Vista Murrieta defense, but they did return nine starters, so Vista Murrieta could be ready. I’ll still go with Norco in this one.

Heritage of Romoland (2-0) vs. Redlands East Valley (1-1) at Redlands High, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Heritage

DB Donovan Salavea and RB Kenny Teter should lift the Patriots over QB Myles Herrera and the Redlands East Valley offense.

Oak Hills of Hesperia (2-1) at Etiwanda (3-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Etiwanda

I’m going to go with the Eagles, led by LB Kendall Henderson and RB Jordan Hillstock in what could call an upset, but I feel both teams are equal. Oa Hills RB Martinique Finn will hope to get a win, but I’ll go with Etiwanda.

Yucaipa (1-1) at Chaparral of Temecula (3-0), 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Yucaipa

The Thunderbirds defense should get the win with LB duo Kaden Masner and Chance Scott. Chaparral RB Elgin Vasquez will say otherwise. Yucaipa for the win.

MANNY’S LOS ANGELES GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week LA Record: 3-2

Overall LA Record: 11-4

No. 13 Serra of Gardena (1-1) vs. No. 16 Long Beach Poly (2-1) at Veterans Stadium, Friday, 7:30pm

Manny’s Pick: Serra

Serra QB Doug Brumfield is a throwing machine and i’m sure WR Justin Lockhart is loving it. After losing to rival Los Alamitos, DB Kejuan Markham and the Jackrabbits defense will try to bounce back, but the Cavaliers are too strong. Serra wins.

Alemany of Mission Hills (3-0) at No. 7 Oaks Christian of Westlake Village (3-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Oaks Christian

Michigan-commit RB Zach Charbonnet is going to keep running wild for the Lions. DE Kayvon Thibodeaux will lead the Oaks Christian defense against Alemany QB Miller Moss. Lions for the W.

Folsom (2-1) at No. 11 Chaminade of West Hills (2-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Folsom

LB Blake Antzoulatos and the Eagle will be taking on the defending State Champs. It might be too much for Chaminade. QB Kaiden Bennett and WR Elijah Badger will lead Folsom to victory.

No. 15 Calabasas (1-1) at La Habra (0-3), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Calabasas

The Coyotes will run into a team that is hungry for a win. WR duo Johnny Wilson and Oregon-commit Mycah Pittman should lead Calabasas to victory over DB Clark Phillips III and the Highlanders.

Bishop Amat of La Puente (2-1) at Rancho Cucamonga (0-2), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Bishop Amat

The Lancers are coming off a heartbreaking one point loss to JSerra of San Juan Capistrano. QB Blake Archuleta and WR Jaden Allen will look to end up on top over LB Mark Samano and the rest of the Rancho Cucamonga Cougars.

MANNY’S ORANGE COUNTY GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week OC Record: 4-1

Overall OC Record: 12-3

No. 4 JSerra of San Juan Capistrano (3-0) vs. Pinnacle of Phoenix (3-0) at Moorpark, Saturday, 4:30pm

Manny’s Pick: JSerra

If RB Chris Street and the Lions take a reasonable lead, they better hold it because regardless of Spencer Rattler or JD Johnson is at quarterback for Pinnacle, DB Quantraill Morris-Walker will lead JSerra to victory and avoid a scare.

No. 6 Mission Viejo (3-0) vs. Villa Park (2-0) at El Modena of Orange, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Mission Viejo

The Diablos will be throwing with Arizona State-commit QB Joey Yellen going to the air to WR Jojo Forrest. It will be a tough one for Purdue-commit QB Paul Piferi and the Spartans.

No. 14 Servite of Anaheim (2-0) vs. Roosevelt of Eastvale (2-1) at Cerritos College of Norwalk, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Servite

After taking a week off from their crazy comeback victory over Norco, the Friars are back and playing another Big VIII League team. QB Blaze McKibbon should lead Servite to victory over LB Jacob Salcedo and the Mustangs.

San Clemente (1-2) at Murrieta Valley (0-2), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: San Clemente

The Tritons are coming off two tough losses to the best teams in San Diego, but now they face a team that is hungry for a win. San Clemente QB Brendan Costello and RB RJ Donaldson will have to outscore the Nighthawks superstar QB Hank Bachmeier, who is committed to Boise State. One Town, One Team, Second Win. San Clemente wins.

Edison of Huntington Beach (1-2) at San Juan Hills of San Juan Capistrano (1-2), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: San Juan Hills

Both teams are 1-2 with their lone win against Canyon of Anaheim, my alma mater. I’m banking on the San Juan Hills defense led by DB Darius Jackson and LB Case Ostrom over WR Cole Koffler and the Chargers.

MANNY’S SAN DIEGO GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week SD Record: 4-1

Overall SD Record: 11-4

El Camino of Oceanside (1-1) at No. 18 La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad (3-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: La Costa Canyon

I covered this game last year and the Mavs got the win. I don’t expect anything different this time around. RB Carson Lippert ran all over El Camino last year and he’ll do it again with help from OL Luka Trifunovic. Wildcats RB Rense Garner will try to avoid a repeat, but it’s deja vu all over again. La Costa Canyon wins again.

Helix of La Mesa (1-2) at No. 19 Cathedral Catholic of San Diego (2-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Cathedral Catholic

This is going to be a big one in San Diego. RB Shawn Poma is a beast for the Dons. If he can get by LB Michael Shawcroft and the Helix defense, then they’ll get the win.

Grossmont of El Cajon (1-1) at Eastlake of Chula Vista (2-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Eastlake

I expect this to be a close one. Titans RB Zach Ertzner will run the offense and LB Josh McCurty will handle the defense. If they can stop Grossmont QB Jaime Odom, then Eastlake should win.

St. Augustine of San Diego (3-0) vs. Otay Ranch of Chula Vista (2-1) at Mesa College of San Diego, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: St. Augustine

Otay Ranch will be running wild with the running back duo of Noah Isley and Jonte Stewart, but RB Bryon Cardwell will be running wild for the Saints while LB JT Penick will shut down the Otay Ranch running game. St. Augustine will take the win.

Carlsbad (2-1) at Mission Hills of San Marcos (0-3), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Mission Hills

Mission Hills has taken three tough losses to begin the season, but I expect DE Jonah McGranahan and SS Jason Boyle to try and stop Lancers QB Keoni Quintana and the rest of the Carlsbad offense. The Grizzlies get their first win of the season in their Avocado League opener.
