Manny’s World: Week 8 SoCal Football Picks

It’s a little late to post my predictions, but better late then a no show. Plus, my record has been on point this season. Take these picks to the bank!

Last Week Overall Record: 15-5

Overall Record: 125-35

MANNY’S INLAND EMPIRE GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week IE Record: 5-0

Overall IE Record: 32-8

No. 3 Centennial of Corona (7-0, 2-0) at No. 16 Norco (6-1, 2-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Centennial

This is for the Big VIII League title. QB Carter Freedland should lead Centennial to victory over RB DJ Ford and the Cougars.

Santiago of Corona (3-4, 0-2) at Roosevelt of Eastvale (5-2, 2-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Santiago

The Sharks first three league games are the three toughest teams in league. They battle with Roosevelt for third place in the Big VIII League. After playing Centennial and Norco, Santiago comes away with the win.

Paloma Valley of Menifee (5-2) at Heritage of Romoland (5-2), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Heritage

The Menifee Bowl is on again. This rivalry game is always fun to watch. Paloma Valley hasn’t won a game against Heritage. WR Koale Schroeder will look to change that, but it will be business as usual for MLB Ika Tuatala and the Patriots. Heritage takes the Menifee Bowl again.

Linfield Christian of Temecula (7-0, 2-0) at Aquinas of San Bernardino (6-1, 2-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Aquinas

The Ambassador League title runs through this game. Aquinas has played a tough schedule this season in comparison. Falcons get the big win.

Chaparral of Temecula (5-2, 0-2) at Murrieta Mesa (4-3, 1-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Chaparral

The winner will most likely take third place in the Southwestern League. This is a tough league and the Pumas have done well against tough competition. I’m going with S Zayn Nofel and the Chaparral defense over DT Kyon Barrs and the Rams defense.

MANNY’S LOS ANGELES GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week LA Record: 3-2

Overall LA Record: 32-8

No. 12 Bishop Amat of La Puente (6-1, 2-0) at Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks (5-2, 2-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Bishop Amat

The Lancers have been on a roll, but Notre Dame has been on that same roll. The winner is in the driver’s seat. Bishop Amat DB Deven Jarvis will have to stop Knights WR McKel Broussard. I’m going with Amat in a close one.

No. 14 Alemany of Mission Hills (6-1, 2-0) at Serra of Gardena (3-4, 0-2), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Alemany

Serra is struggling at the wrong time and nothing will change with RB Omari Garry leading the Warriors past DB/WR Max Williams and the Serra defense. Alemany takes the win.

Camarillo (7-0, 1-0) at Moorpark (5-2, 1-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Camarillo

The Scorpions are looking to keep their undefeated season going with their experienced roster. LB Drew Carter will get another win for Camarillo over WR Drake London and the Musketeers.

West Ranch of Valencia (7-0, 2-0) vs. Saugus (6-1, 2-0) at Valencia, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Saugus

I want to pick QB Weston Eget and the Wildcats, but this will be their first big test. I’m going with Saugus in this one as they will look to challenge Valencia of Magic Mountain for the Foothill League title.

West Torrance (4-3, 2-0) at North Torrance (5-2, 2-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: West Torrance

North and West will battle for bragging rights in the city of Torrance and a possible league title in the Pioneer League. I’m going with the Saxons in this one and that’s how the West was won. That made more sense in my head.

MANNY’S ORANGE COUNTY GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week OC Record: 3-2

Overall OC Record: 31-9

No. 1 Mater Dei of Santa Ana (6-1, 2-0) vs. No. 2 St. John Bosco of Bellflower (7-0, 2-0) at Santa Ana Stadium, Friday, 7:30pm

Manny’s Pick: Mater Dei

This is for the Trinity League title and a potential preview of the CIF-SS Division I Finals. Two of the best teams in the country face off once again. This is going to be a tough one to pick. I kept flipping back and forth, but I feel that the Monarchs have way too many weapons with QB Bryce Young and RB Shakobe Harper. Bosco QB DJ Uiagalelei should keep it exciting and close, but i’m sticking with Mater Dei in this one.

No. 10 Orange Lutheran (4-3, 1-1) at No. 6 JSerra of San Juan Capistrano (6-1, 1-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: JSerra

OLu is coming in a bit hurt, but with QB Ryan Hilinski leading the offense for the Lancers, this won’t be one sided. RB Chris Street and WR Munir McClain will push JSerra over the top and to a victory.

No. 18 Los Alamitos (6-1, 2-0) vs. Corona del Mar of Newport Beach (6-1, 2-0) at Cerritos College of Norwalk, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Corona del Mar

What is pretty much for the Sunset League title, i’m expecting QB Chase Garbers to deep to WR John Humphreys all evening for CdM. The Griffins will hope RB Keanu Norman can match that offensive intensity. I’m going with Corona del Mar in this one.

No. 19 Villa Park (7-0) at Yorba Linda (6-1), 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Villa Park

The Crestview League is up for grabs and both these teams should be the top two teams in the league. Villa Park QB Paul Piferi should keep going long to his go-to receiver Dylan Bonilla, but WR Ricky Lane should keep the Mustangs alive. I’m going with the Spartans though as they go 8-0.

El Dorado of Placentia (2-5) at Brea Olinda (3-4), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Brea Olinda

Consider this one the North Hills League title. I like the play of Golden Hawks ATH DaVaughn Celestine, but Brea Olinda might be too touch in this one. Wildcats take it.

MANNY’S SAN DIEGO GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week San Diego Record: 4-1

Overall San Diego Record: 30-10

Christian of El Cajon (7-0) at No. 11 Cathedral Catholic of San Diego (6-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Cathedral Catholic

The Patriots are having another fantastic season, but they run into their toughest opponent yet in Cathedral Catholic. RB Shawn Poma has been a beast and so has DL Miles McCormick. Christian does have TE Bryce Riepl, but i’m going with the Dons in this one.

St. Augustine of San Diego (5-2, 1-1) at Madison of San Diego (5-2, 1-1), Friday, 6:30pm

Manny’s Pick: St. Augustine

With Cathedral Catholic pretty much alone in the Western League, this one is for second place. It will be up to St. Augustine DE Michael Ambagtsheer and DB Tyson McWilliams to stop Warhawks RB Kenan Christon. I’m going with the Saints in this one.

Santa Fe Christian of Solana Beach (4-3, 1-0) vs. Bishop’s of La Jolla (4-3, 2-0) at La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Bishop’s

The two top teams in the Coastal League meet up. Santa Fe Christian have struggled with challenging teams. We will see if they are up to the task against the Knights. I’m going to go with Bishop’s in this one.

Parker of San Diego (7-0, 1-0) at Tri-City Christian of Vista (6-1, 3-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Tri-City Christian

This is a tough one, but i’m going with TE Noah Reitmeyer and the Eagles over Parker in the battle for first place in the Pacific League.

Morse of San Diego (4-3, 1-1) at Mira Mesa of San Diego (5-2, 1-1), Friday, 6:30pm

Manny’s Pick: Mira Mesa

This is going to be a defensive battle. I’m going with Marauders DB duo Marcus Dean and Javelle Brown over Morse DB Shamar Brown. Mira Mesa for the win.
