Sometimes, it is hard to repeat as champions.

The 2018 SoCal Football Student Section Champion went to battle to not only take a weekly title, but they also look to keep the crown for the best student football section in Southern California.

For now, we are going on a week-to-week basis and the Rancho Cucamonga Rancho Rooters went to battle to rep the IE, beating out Los Osos Grizzly Nation, Etiwanda Red Zone and the Temecula Valley Gold Zone.

After getting by, they had to face the Mission Viejo Diablo Inferno, the Orange County representative that went wild for their Diablos in their rivalry game against Santa Margarita of Rancho Santa Margarita. Not only was it a rivalry on the field, but a battle in the stands with the Diablo Inferno and the Eagles Nest. The Diablo Inferno went loud and wild in their student section battle while their Mission Viejo Diablos defeated the Eagles 21-10.

Diablo Inferno edged out San Juan Hills Stampede, Foothill Dungeon and the Santa Margarita Eagles Nest.

In the San Diego Region, the La Costa Canyon Stampede packed the stands and went wild. Going wild makes perfect sense in the Mavericks thrilling and wild 24-23 victory over Vista. Rocking the camo gear, the Stampede showed up loud and proud.

The Stampede beat out the San Marcos Blue Crew, Helix Dawghouse and the Central Crazies.

The student section that came close to the Rancho Rooters was the St. John Bosco Tribe, that repped Los Angeles. The Tribe showed up for the home opener and brought their A game and you have to bring your A game when the Braves always bring their best, especially against Don Bosco Prep of Ramsey, New Jersey 56-21 in the battle of the Boscos, which puts George Costanza on edge…I forgot, none of the kids know who George Costanza is, I’m old.

Anyway, The Tribe enjoyed a big victory and went wild and they went on top for LA, beating out Newbury Park Panther Pit, Oaks Christian Lions Den and Loyola Pride.

In the end, the Rancho Rooters handled the voting poll and won by a large margin and for that, the defending SoCal Football Student Section Champion, the Rancho Cucamonga Rancho Rooters are the SoCal Student Section of the Week for Week 1.

We spoke with Rancho Rooter leaders Julian Paez, Camille Singleton and Isaac Folorunso on what it took to  take the title and what it will take to repeat as SoCal best.

You guys are the Week One So Cal Student Section of the week, beating out the St. John Bosco Tribe, La Costa Canyon Stampede and Mission Viejo Diablo Inferno. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Southern California?

Singleton: It honestly doesn’t take too much to stand out as the best in SoCal when we have such an amazing football team and a school that wants to have the best rooter section in California.

You guys are the defending SoCal Football Student Section Champion. What is it going to take to repeat in 2019?

Folorunso: To repeat that title with be pretty hard this year to be honest, since we only have 4 home games this year. But our rooters just keep getting bigger and better every year. Our school is excited to see what we have in store this year.

What is your most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the student section?

Singleton: One of the most memorable games I have ever experienced is last year actually, there was actually a lighting storm so all the security was trying to pull rooters down and as they are pulling us down the song All I Want For Christmas plays and ton of rain comes pouring down. And it was just so memorable because we all so excited and our team was basically destroying the other team. So i was an amazing experience for all of us in the stands!

Favorite theme?

Singleton: One our favorite themes has to be the Pink Out! It is a tradition for our school to raise money and awareness about breast cancer. It’s a game against our rivals Los Osos and every year it just get better and better. Every single person on either is decked out in pink from head to toe and it’s honestly so amazing to see! It has the be one one of the best games and best themes of the entire year

Favorite chant?

Folorunso: Our favorite chant is definitely GIVE ME AN R! As we spell our Ranch our entire crowd gets involved and excited for what is to come next. It’s a great chant to do and a great chant to be apart of.

What’s your least favorite chant that you hear from the other side of the stadium/gym?

Paez: Least favorite chant would have to be This is our House. When it’s a home game and the other teams says that on our turf is just makes us so angry and frustrated especially when we aren’t at our best.

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Singleton: Well it’s hard to compare Rancho to any school, but lately Los Osos has been killing the game. Usually, they are pretty flat but I’ve seen a lot on them and their videos are also pretty rad!
