Well, the Student Sections got me very overwhelmed this past weekend.

In our coverage debut of the Student Sections in Northern California and Nevada, we got off to a good start in getting discovered, but we aren’t entirely known in Southern California. While I know of the Rancho Bernardo Stable, they weren’t fully aware of us. Well, they are now.

Along with the Rancho Bernardo Stable of San Diego taking the SoCal Student Section of the Week title, the Placer Goldmine took the NorCal Student Section of the Week title and the Liberty Patriot Pit of Henderson took the Nevada Student Section of the Week.

This is only the beginning as more Student Sections will be discovered by us and vice versa.

It seemed like we returned back to normal when it came to the baby powder, the streamers, chants paint, chants and loud noises! Man, I missed the Student Sections.

We have a little over 10 more weeks of Student Section of the Week voting, so if you’re Student Section didn’t make the Final 4, not to worry, you have plenty of time to make the cut!

Now, these three Student Sections didn’t just get picked, we had three other nominees in every region. Let’s recognize those nominees;

As always, the San Clemente Loud Crowd rocked it at home and as always, they enjoyed a Tritons 38-0 victory over Oceanside. Photo Credit/Instagram @schs.loud.crowd

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA: San Clemente Loud Crowd, Temescal Canyon Blue Hole of Lake Elsinore, Royal Kingdom of Simi Valley.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA: Rocklin Storm, Granite Bay Grizzly Den, Roseville Tiger Cage.

NEVADA: Centennial Dawgpound of Las Vegas, Desert Oasis Pit Crew of Las Vegas, Shadow Ridge of Las Vegas.

Now the Liberty Patriot Pit, Placer Goldmine and the Rancho Bernardo Stable can’t win another weekly title, but they still have to make a strong showing to end at number one in their region and battle for the West Coast Student Section Title!

Anyway, we asked our three Student Section of the Week winners what it took to take the Weekly title in their region!

You guys are the So Cal Student Section of the Week,  beating out the San Clemente Loud Crowd, Temescal Canyon Blue Hole and Royal Kingdom. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Southern California?

Rancho Bernardo Stable: Coming off of two years of COVID, the student section really came together as a family to make our first year back the best it can possibly be.

What is your most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the student section?

Rancho Bernardo Stable: Definitely the most recent game against San Marcos. This was our first game with our newly formed Hype Team, and even at an away game we really showed out and set the precedent for the rest of the year.

Favorite theme?

Rancho Bernardo Stable: Blue-Out #webleedblue

Favorite chant?

Rancho Bernardo Stable: Our chant for kickoff is our favorite. We chant the beginning of the opening theme of Spongebob and the student sections gets really into it.

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Rancho Bernardo Stable: San Marcos was pretty impressive last week for sure. They showed a whole lot of spirit and had really good energy.

This is not a one-person operation. We know alot of people took a part in this. Who would you like to thank for making Rancho Bernardo Stable the best this week?

Rancho Bernardo Stable: We wanna give a shout-out to our new ASB affiliates Hype Team and our advisors Mich and Jamal.

You guys are the Nor Cal Student Section of the Week, beating out the Rocklin Storm, Granite Bay Grizzly Den and Roseville Tiger Cage. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Southern California?

Placer Goldmine: Commitment and unity. Since Covid put a hold on our school spirit for two years, we’ve all been craving the opportunity to come together and support our school! Part of the culture at Placer is supporting our fellow students.

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the student section?

Placer Goldmine:  Each year in October we have Pink Out games to support Breast Cancer Awareness!

Favorite theme?

Placer Goldmine: Our favorite dress up theme is Gold Out! We wear anything gold and students always come up with creative outfits!

Favorite chant?

Placer Goldmine: The Placer spell out chant, “P, P – L – A, P – L – A -C – E – R, placer yeah that’s who we are!”

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Placer Goldmine: No one outdoes the gold mine! But, Granite Bay has been rumored to have an awesome student section!

This is not a one-person operation. We know a lot of people took a part in this. Who would you like to thank for making Placer Goldmine the best this week?

Placer Goldmine: Zach Jenkins, JP Suter and Kaden Baroni who are our Goldmine leaders! Additionally, everyone who drove all the way out to Casa really impressed us!

You guys are the Nevada Student Section of the Week, beating out the Centennial Dawgpound, Desert Oasis Pit Crew and Shadow Ridge. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Southern California?

Patriot Pit: It takes having an extremely supportive student body that is willing to show school spirit and excitement to be the best student section in Nevada. The student participation in our games is what makes our student body feel a sense of unity. We want Liberty to be the place that represents an extremely inclusive and positive environment for everyone.

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the student section?

Patriot Pit: One of the most memorable games that Liberty has had was the 2019 Homecoming Game. This game included many different traditional aspects like floats on the field, convertibles to represent our homecoming court, and an amazing flour toss. The game was overall extremely lively and everyone in the stands showed so much spirit.

Favorite theme?

Patriot Pit: A favorite theme of ours was a white out themed game where students are decked out in all white clothing and are excited to do our traditional flour toss in the bleachers.

This spirit day is not only very simple so every student is able to be involved and feel included, but it is also very fun to see how creative every student can get with their outfits.

Favorite chant?

Patriot Pit: Additionally, one of our favorite chants here at Liberty High School is “I believe that we will win” or “Red, white, blue” during the games in order to hype up the entire student body along with the team. These chants are very easy to remember and create a supportive feel for the entire school.

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Patriot Pit: Another student section that is known for their amazing student section is Bishop Gorman High School. They always have such a lively and exciting student section due to the amount of student participation. We love that they include posters and flags along with many great decorations!

This is not a one-person operation. We know a lot of people took part in this. Who would you like to thank for making Liberty Patriot Pit the best this week?

Patriot Pit: We would like to thank Ashlee Vaness, the Student Council Advisor, who has been very supportive of our extravagant ideas and always having hope in accomplishing a goal. Mrs. Vaness has helped Patriot Pit come to life by giving us many ideas and supplying us with great materials like posters, a spirit stick, and pom poms!
