When doing three days of research for nominees for Student Section of the Week in 25 States, I kept wondering, is the lost freedom to do this worth it?

The answer, ab-solll-utely!

After an estimated 175,000 votes last week, the Student Section faithful kept the spirit alive with an estimated 85,000 votes this week, most of it being from the South in Georgia and Mississippi. We want to thank all of you for voting! This is a WE thing and to put Student Sections on the map, we have to do our part and you certainly did that.

To the ones that lost in a heartbreak, don’t worry, we have several more weeks of this and we potentially have a National Bracket for the best Fall Student Section of 2020!

Out of the 27 States that had Fall sports this past week, 5 of them only had one nominee, which meant they had a winner by default. Only one state didn’t have a nominee.

This week, we welcome Wisconsin and South Carolina to the madness. Let’s see if we can reach 200,000 votes!

Some Student Sections were at minimum capacity while others used alternatives like showing their support on social media or a watch party at the school. Whatever works to show off your rowdy school spirit!

Since this is our first year covering student sections all over the country, we are still not familiar with all the student sections, which hurt for states that don’t have a large number of high schools.

While we are growing Nationally, the big time reward is given at this time. We hope to give these winners bigger rewards than Nation bragging rights, but while some Student Sections may not see these awards as something significant, some Student Section use this as motivation or accept these awards as a massive honor!

“In Valdosta, everything is around football and I mean everything,” Valdosta Student Section memeber and basebll player Jordan Caraway said. “So, to be the biggest football town in Georgia and maybe even the nation, it means a lot to us as fans and students to know we’re the best student section in Georgia. Go Cats!”

That’s enough proof of how big this is to Student Sections. Here are the Student Section Report Student Section of the Week!
