Week 1 Student Section Preview (08/29/19)

What an amazing start to the Student Section Football season. A lot of student section missed the final four cut like the Bishop Amat Dawgpound, The Rancho Cucamonga Rancho Rooters, South Hills Dawgpound, Capo Valley Cage, the Carlsbad Loud Crowd and Los Osos Grizzly Nation.

We saw some great student sections and we expect a lot of student section show off their school spirit on Twitter.

What helps is adding us to all your tweets.

We have some great student sections that we feel will make some noise and some of these student sections will look to get to the final four and join Los Alamitos Los Locos as the SoCal Student Section of the Week.

Once you win the SoCal Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, so while Los Locos can’t win it again, they still have to make a great showing to get the top ranking in the Orange County and SoCal Top 20 Football Student Section Rankings.

Here are the Student Section that I feel will make noise.

INLAND EMPIRE

Calabasas (The Pack) at Rancho Cucamonga (Rancho Rooters), Thursday, 7pm

This might be a long drive for the Calabasas Pack, so expect the Rancho Rooters to take full control. The Cougars will need all the help to rattle Calabasas with all the top talent they have. Rancho Rooters felt they were wronged last week when they didn’t make the Final Four Voting Poll, with the Etiwanda Red Zone representing the Inland Empire last week. I expect the Rancho Rooters to prove a point all while showing their school spirit. Hopefully, they work a strong Twitter game on Friday and show off their school spirit.

Dorsey of Los Angeles at Los Osos of Rancho Cucamonga (Grizzly Nation), Thursday, 7pm

Dorsey doesn’t have a student section, so this will be a one sided affair. The Grizzly Nation always jumps to a roaring start and they did so last week in the Grizzlies victory over Logan of Union City, Utah. Los Osos faces a football program that has been a CIF-Los Angeles City Section powerhouse in the past in Dorsey. This isn’t an easy task and Grizzly Nation is going to have to turn it up a notch. Hopefully they end up on top and battle for the SoCal Student Section of the Week title.

Orange Lutheran (Code Red) at Centennial of Corona (Dawgpound), Friday, 7pm

It’s unsure if Code Red will make the drive to Corona, if they did that would be a big task to get by the 91 and 15 freeway connecter on a Friday. Ugh! Anyway, the Dawgpound knows that they need to play a big factor in rebooting the Huskies following a tough loss last week to Mater Dei of Santa Ana. This student section will look to rattle the Lancers as Centennial looks for their first win of the season. Hopefully, they can share their school spirit to us on Twitter.

Rancho Verde of Moreno Valley (Red Zone) at Santiago of Corona (Black Sea), Friday, 7pm

Both these student section lack any social media game. They have a student section and a good one too, but do they want to be recognized? Perhaps if I call them out, they will work a strong social media game. Doubtful that they’ll read this. Regardless, the Black Sea will take control of their own home as this might be too long of a drive for the Red Zone. Santiago will need some help getting pumped up as they face a very good Rancho Verde squad.

Murrieta Valley (Red Zone) at Paloma Valley of Menifee (Platoon Maroon), Friday, 7pm

Menifee is not too far away from Murrieta, so perhaps the Red Zone can come in and take control of Paloma Valley High. We know they have a strong social media game. Platoon Maroon on the other hand, doesn’t show off on Twitter. Perhaps they should start now because this is a good student section and will need to step up with a strong program like the Nighthawks coming into town. Hopefully, we have a big student section battle.

LOS ANGELES

Paraclete of Lancaster at Chaminade of West Hills (The Cage), Friday, 7pm

The Cage will look to help their Eagles get in the win column after a close loss to Oaks Christian of Westlake Village. The Cage has a pretty good social media game, but I hope to see more of them this football season on Twitter. The Cage should have full control in the stands and that should help their Eagles.

St. Bernard of Playa del Rey at Loyola of Los Angeles (Loyola Pride), Friday, 7pm

Loyola is looking to get back to their winning ways, a tough task in a tough league like the Mission League. The Loyola Pride will look to show their continuous support. If they can show that off on Twitter. This is a game where both the Loyola student section and the Cubs should enjoy a big night.

Thousand Oaks (The Green Hole) at Newbury Park (Panther Pit), Friday, 7pm

This could very well be a student section battle if the Thousand Oaks Green Hole makes the seven mile drive to Newbury Park to meet the Panther Pit. The Green Hole will be needed to give the Lancers the edge. It will be a hard task with the Panthers being well prepared by being in the Marmonte League. Hopefully, both student sections share their school spirit on Twitter because this has the making of a student section battle, if both student sections show up.

Grace Brethren of Simi Valley (Lancer Nation) at Oaks Christian of Westlake Village (Lions Den), Friday, 7pm

After showing up to battle with the Chaminade Cage in the Lions victory over the Eagles, the Lions Den will have to pump up their team when they face

Mira Costa of Manhattan Beach at St. Francis of La Canada (The Dungeon), Friday, 7pm

I’ve seen the Dungeon before and they are a rowdy group and a large one too. The Dungeon always makes a good showing at every home game and I expect nothing different.

ORANGE COUNTY

Mission Viejo (Diablo Inferno) vs. Santa Margarita of Rancho Santa Margarita (Eagles Nest) at Trabuco Hills of Mission Viejo, Friday, 7pm

This rivalry game is going to be more intense than usual. Transfers galore and the student sections should be just as wild with the Diablo Inferno drive very near to meet with the Eagles Nest. Eagles Nest is one of the best home student sections. They packed the stands and chant the entire time. Rikki Tikki Tumba is one of my favorite chants and I expect them to turn it up a notch with Diablo Inferno going wild as usual. This is going to be a fun game to watch and a fun student section battle to watch as well.

Capistrano Valley of Mission Viejo (The Cage) at San Juan Hills of San Juan Capistrano (The Stampede), Friday, 7pm

The Cage travels well and going near to San Juan Hills to meet their rivals will be a fun one when they meet The Stampede, a student section that brings it at every home game. Bring your ear muffs and beware of powder and streamers because both student sections are going to go nuts in an evenly matched game.

Foothill of Santa Ana (The Dungeon) at Tustin (Tustin Barn), Friday, 7pm

The Crosstown Rivalry Trophy is up for grabs and Foothill looks to take the trophy back, but will have to overcome the loud noise from the Tustin Barn. I will be at this game once again as I was at last years game. It was a fun game last year where the Barn made the best impressions. I expect the Dungeon to turn it up a notch this year. This should be another fun one. Hopefully, both student sections won’t rely on me and work their student section. You know, the one they kind of don’t have. Just calling you out in hopes that they turn it up!

Torrey Pines of San Diego (TP Chaos) at San Clemente (Loud Crowd), Friday, 7pm

Not sure if The Chaos will travel to Orange County, so I expect Loud Crowd to go wild…and hopefully they have someone to work their Twitter page during the game. If they don’t post anything, no one will notice their school spirit, so show off the Loud Crowd this Friday on Twitter, please!

Mater Dei of Santa Ana (The Den) vs. Villa Park (The Black Pack) at Santa Ana Stadium, Saturday, 6:30pm

The Den shows up every now and then, but they might show on Saturday and I hope they do because the Black Pack travels all the time and since they have to travel for all their games, they will show up. The Spartans are going to need all the help they can get, so the Black Pack will turn it up a notch.

SAN DIEGO

Mira Mesa of San Diego at San Marcos (The Blue Crew), Friday, 7pm

The Blue Crew is a fantastic student section and nothing should be different in 2019. Hopefully they can show that off on Twitter. San Marcos lost a tough one to start the season, so a boost from The Blue Crew is needed and that boost shall be received.

Herriman of West Herriman, Utah at Helix of La Mesa (The Dawgpound), Friday, 7pm

The Dawgpound is always a fantastic student section, not as good as a few years ago, but still fantastic. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for their Twitter game. They never really show off their school spirit. Hopefully, that changes in 2019.

Mater Dei of Chula Vista at Grossmont of El Cajon, Friday, 7pm

Grossmont has a fantastic student section at every home game and they will rock it against Mater Dei. If they have a Twitter game (I’m guessing they don’t), then they will get the credit they deserve.

Vista (Panther Pit) at La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad (The Stampede), Friday, 7pm

This game features two local teams should have a nice little student section battle with the Panther Pit and the LCC Stampede. It seems like a lot of San Diego student section lack a strong social media game. I’m hoping these two student section can post their school spirit and be recognized with the best in San Diego.

St. Augustine of San Diego (Saints Pit) at Eastlake of Chula Vista (Titan Army), Friday, 7pm

If the Saints Pit travels, then they should be on top in San Diego for this week. This is a fantastic student section that works the social media game very well. The Titan Army is a great student section and if they match the social media game that The Saints Pit has, then they shall get rewarded.
