In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and last year, we added four more states. This past winter, we expanded to 19 states.

Now, we are going to 40 states. This is still a one-man operation for the most part.

Since it all started in Southern California and I know the Student Section very very well in SoCal, we will have Regional coverage in five different Southern California Regions starting with the Los Angeles Region.

I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December.

If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion.

So far we have previewed the Tennessee and Alabama Top 40 Football Student Section Preseason Rankings and the Hawaii Football Student Section Watch List. Now we focus on the city of Angels, the Los Angeles Region.

The LA area is always full of top talent. There’s stars in Hollywood, stars on the football field and stars in the stands with these fantastic Student Sections.

The best student sections are the ones that travel, which is tough with the brutal Los Angeles traffic on a Friday evening, but if you travel like the La Serna Kingdom of Whittier did last season in the playoffs, you’re forever a legend!

In each state (or in this case, Region), we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Los Angeles, it’s the Redondo Union Flock of Redondo Beach. The Flock is a middle of the road student section as far as our rankings are concerned, but the Flock has a new student section advisor, Lisa Hudspeth, formerly the advisor at Villa Park with the Black Pack and the Blue Crew. She knows how to market a student section on social media and she can turn this around for the Flock. Expect the Flock to join the powerhouse party in the Los Angeles area.

Will the Flock be the top dawg in Los Angeles? Let’s find out where everyone starts this season.

  1. St. John Bosco Tribe of Bellflower (2021 Final Rank: 1)

The Tribe is insane and the Braves are going to need them as they may look like the stronger team in the Trinity League, which means the same thing for a National Title. The Braves have a tough home schedule and the Tribe will be ready. The Tribe also has at least four solid student sections right behind them for the Top Spot in LA. I have the Tribe going for the repeat. Let’s see if it does happen.
