In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and last year, we added four more states. This past winter, we expanded to 19 states.

Now, we are going to 40 states. This is still a one-man operation for the most part.

I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December.

If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion.

So far we have previewed the Top 40 Preseason Football Student Section Rankings in Tennessee, Alabama, Alaska, North Carolina, the Los Angeles Region as well as the Watch List for Hawaii and Indiana.

Like Indiana, we to expand at the beginning of 2020, we did not plan chaos to push our plans back for two year. We briefly covered Texas during the fall of 2020, but COVID made that difficult. We know very little of Texas as far as Student Sections when we brought them back for the Winter Student Section season in January.

We still don’t know a whole much about the Student Section world in Texas, but we do know that high school football is borderline religious over there, so we know the Student Sections have to be intense and insane! Will our Top 40 Preseason Rankings be accurate? Probably not. Again, we know little of the Student Section scene in football country.

In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Texas, it’s the Stratford of Houston. Perhaps it’s the fact that they notified us that makes me wonder that they wants the top spot more than anyone else. Now, of course we will get discovered as the season progresses, but for now, Stratford has the head start!

Will Stratford be the top Student Section deep in the heart of Texas? Let’s find out!

  1. Katy Jungle

Not a lot of people know this, but I used to work for a television station in Orange County, California for six years and the last two years, we had to monitor a TV station from Houston (KUBE-TV). They did a solid job covering high school sports and I got to notice fantastic student sections in the Houston areas. One student section that was always mentioned or noticed was the Katy Jungle. Football is huge at Katy and the Jungle knows it and shows it. I always noticed that they take pride in cheering for Katy football!
