You guys are the Arizona Student Section of the Week. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Arizona?

Viper Pit: We have a motto of “One Verrado” which was truly exemplified in our student section this week. Seeing all the students come together to support our team with hype and school spirit was extraordinary and showcased that “One Verrado” unity we strive for.

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the Viper Pit?

Viper Pit: The Homecoming game has to be the most memorable game yet, as it was our first game being back in person after Covid. We had the biggest turnout we have seen in years, and our school spirit was through the roof at this game.

Favorite theme?

Viper Pit: We really enjoyed the black and bling theme that went with both our school colors and homecoming theme. Although simplistic, our school colors include black and gold and it was fun incorporating these elements for our first home game of the year which also happened to be the Homecoming game!

Favorite chant?

Viper Pit: V-e-double r-a-d-o that’s what we are, Verrado, yeah yeah, Verrado ! V-E-DOUBLE R-A-D-O lets go Verrado *clap clap*

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Viper Pit: We have heard wonderful things about the student section at Millennium High School!

This is not a one-person operation. We know alot of people took a part in this. Who would you like to thank for making the Viper Pit the best this week?

Viper Pit: Our student government sets up, runs, and cleans up the Pit. Without them, we would not be able to successfully have both a fun and hype Viper Pit!

Other Nominees: Chaparral Birdcage of Scottsdale, Horizon Dawgpound of Scottsdale, Pinnacle Crazies of Phoenix

You guys are the Northern California Student Section of the Week. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in NorCal?

Black-Out Crew: Pioneer isn’t a big school, but this was the first time we went to our Rival School for a football game so we were all excited to show up and our student section did just that. It was a great night, great atmosphere, and a great win which all helped keep us hyped throughout the game.

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the Black Out Crew?

Black-Out Crew: Every year our biggest game of the season is against our cross town rivals. That’s the one game where we are guaranteed an opposing student section so the rivalry always makes the games super entertaining and memorable for those who attend.

Favorite theme?

Black-Out Crew: Our student section name is the Black-Out Crew so that’s got to be it. We start off the season with a Black-Out Game and we’ll have it again for our Rival Game. Our school colors are black and gold so it’s very easy for students to participate in the theme and feel a part of the crew.

There is a lot to fear when it comes to Pioneer football and the Black-Out Crew as they are 5-0 so far this season. Photo Credit/Bryan Fernandez

Favorite chant?

Black-Out Crew: The one that usually gets our whole section hyped is the “I Believe” Chant. It’s easy to follow and it gets the energy up. One of our newest is the “P-Town” chant in which the section leader yells “P-What?” and the section responds with “P-Town”. It’s also a very simple chant, but it’s a niche to our school.

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Black-Out Crew: There isn’t one in specific but over the past few weeks, we’ve had many people send over TikToks of super big student sections that seem super fun. Like we said, we aren’t a super big school, but we still try to recreate that energetic atmosphere during our own games.

This is not a one-person operation. We know a lot of people took part in this. Who would you like to thank for making the Black Out Crew the best this week?

Black-Out Crew: Our ASB class was key in making this game happen. From advertising, handing out Patriot gear at school to making the posters for the game, they were key to making it happen. An even bigger thanks, however, to all the students who showed up on Friday ready to get loud and cheer our team to victory.

Other Nominees: Clovis East Wolfpack, Nevada Union, Buchanan Red Riot of Clovis.

We also have some incredible “super fans” and cheer squads that keep us hype.

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the Sherwood Student Section?

Sherwood: The most memorable game I have ever attended as a member of Sherwood High School was our game last Friday, which was a Rainbow Out against Newberg. Our students showed incredible support for the LGBTQ+ community in both Sherwood and Newberg.
