You guys are the Arizona Student Section of the Week. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Arizona?

Stampede: I think that we stood out this week because the energy has improved so much in our student section this year. Increasing our social media presence definitely also got us to the point we are at.

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the Stampede?

Stampede: The most memorable games are always the first home game of the season. People are excited for the start of football season and the atmosphere is amazing.

Favorite theme?

Stampede: Beach night is a favorite. People really get dressed up and the stands look great! I especially loved doing the “splash zone” at kick off this year.

Favorite chant?

Stampede: Any chant is a good chant when everyone is loud! I’m not sure if it qualifies as a “chant” but I love when our whole student section barks at the opponents.

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Stampede: I have a lot of respect for the other chandler unified school district student sections.

This is not a one-person operation. We know a lot of people took a part in this. Who would you like to thank for making the Stampede the best this week?

Stampede: I’d like to thank everyone who has followed the student section Instagram and shows up to the games, we wouldn’t be the best without them. I’d also like to thank Porter Thomas, Dylan Parise, and Hudson Burris as the boys that lead our student section. And of course the band, cheer, pom, and football teams for working hard on the field.

Other Nominees: Agua Fria of Avondale, Corona del Sol of Tempe, Pinnacle Crazies of Phoenix

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION OF THE WEEK: Villa Park Black Pack

The Villa Park Black Pack celebrates after the Spartans put away El Modena on Friday.

You guys are the SoCal Student Section of the Week. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in California?

Black Pack: Our Black Pack has a heart and soul like no other student section. The spirit leaders and our ASB work for hours on end every week. From making lots of creative/supportive posters for our team as well as getting fun handouts for our students. We do everything we can possibly think of to get students involved. We are one of the best student sections in California because of the pride our student body has and how loud we can get to support our school. Every school has students that support their team, but the Black Pack has passion and endless spirit.

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the Black Pack?

Black Pack: As a member of the Black Pack, one of the most memorable games was our first game back in person after two long years. Our theme for this game was a Blue Out, and everyone was speechless when they saw what a great turn out it was. It’s also a plus when your amazing football team pulls off a win for the first game of the season.

Favorite theme?

Black Pack: Our favorite theme so far in our season has been our Pink Out game against El Modena, where our black pack was covered in full pink from head to toe. Everyone was into the game, they all had smiles on their faces, and were cheering so loud. It was also an honor to dress for a great cause, Breast Cancer Awareness.

Favorite chant?

Black Pack: Our favorite chant of the Black Pack’s would have to be our SpongeBob kickoff chant. The spirit leaders ask the crowd “Are ya ready kids?” and they reply back “I can’t hear you!” and so on, just like the beginning of every SpongeBob episode. This chant is a fun tradition we have as we use it when the Villa Park Spartans are kicking off.

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Black Pack: Dana Hills Pod Squad always shows up and has a lot of fun in their student section!

This is not a one-person operation. We know a lot of people took part in this. Who would you like to thank for making the Black Pack the best this week?

Black Pack: The students who come out to all of the games to cheer on our amazing football team! We cannot thank the Villa Park Spartans enough for their constant support. We also would like to thank our Activities Director Ms. H for giving us the opportunity and trusting us with leading such a great student section.

Other Nominees: Downey Viking Nation, Temescal Canyon Blue Hole of Lake Elsinore, Cathedral Catholic Los Locos of San Diego

You guys are the Oregon Student Section of the Week. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Oregon?

Super Fans: In order to stand out, we knew we had to do something that student sections in the area haven’t done. We decided to throw baby powder around for the white out theme we had, and we threw shirts into our student section and the general audience for more interaction.

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the Sprague Student Section?

Super Fans: The most memorable game in my time of being a member of the student fan association had to of been the playoff run that our volleyball team made in 2019. The playoffs were hosted in Portland which was about an hour away from Sprague, but we still had more students at the game then I have ever experienced.

Favorite theme?

Super Fans: My favorite theme is definitely orange out because of the interaction it has with our school colors.

Favorite chant?

Super Fans: my favorite chant and probably our best chant is when someone yells “hey we want some touchdowns” and the rest of the students respond “hey we want some touchdowns”.

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Super Fans: Except for our rivals of South Salem High School, we focus on trying to see the entirety of student sections in our area, so we can learn our own strengths and weaknesses. There are a lot of Portland schools that I believe have similar motives to us.

This is not a one-person operation. We know alot of people took a part in this. Who would you like to thank for making Sprague the best this week?

Super Fans: I would like to thank all the students that continue to come out to every game. Our participation has been larger than ever before and It’s fun when you see that a lot of people share the same interests about caring for the athletics at our school.

Other Nominees: David Douglas of Portland, Clackamas, Tualatin

You guys are the Washington Student Section of the Week. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Washington?

Bellevue: We think a big contributor was having kingco at the game to film- the whole school worked together to make that happen and get them there!

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the Bellevue Student Section?

Bellevue: Bellevue always goes hard for football games but the best one was definitely the first game this year. It was the first whole-school event in a year and a half because of COVID so the energy was insane!

Favorite theme?

Bellevue: One of the most popular themes for games is pink out- we have one every October in honor of breast cancer awareness month. You can also never go wrong with blue and gold (our school colors)!

Favorite chant?

Bellevue: Hands down the most popular chant is trucking. Everyone in the stadium links arms and jumps side to side chanting “T-R-U-C-K, keep on trucking all the way.”

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Bellevue: Bellevue is the best 😉 but we’ve got to give it to our rivals, Mercer Island. They know how to show up!

This is not a one-person operation. We know alot of people took a part in this. Who would you like to thank for making Bellevue the best this week?

Bellevue: Last week was our homecoming game so all of our students really showed spirit, I would say the community as a whole is responsible for the turnout!

Other Nominees: Inglemoor of Kenmore, Woodinville, Sumner

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA STUDENT SECTION OF THE WEEK: Buchanan Red Riot

Instagram: @buchanan_activities

You guys are the Northern California Student Section of the Week. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in NorCal?

Red Riot: We’re so honored to be voted best student section! It takes a great student body with awesome school spirit and a love for their school. Our students love to support one another and show their school pride!

What is the most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the Red Riot?

Red Riot: There are so many memorable games but this season’s game vs Los Alamitos was awesome! We had an amazing turnout and even though we lost, it was a really close game, the boys played great, and we were all so proud of them.

Favorite theme?

Red Riot: Can’t decide on our favorite theme – the red out for homecoming was great cause the student section was PACKED – and our neon night was also super fun!

Favorite chant?

Red Riot: Our favorite chant would either be GO BIG RED – everyone knows that’s a Buchanan staple – or “Everywhere we go…” Both get the student section fired up!

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”

Red Riot: Clovis High, also in Clovis Unified, always has a great student section.

This is not a one-person operation. We know alot of people took a part in this. Who would you like to thank for making the Red RIot the best this week?

Red Riot: So many people have to work together to make it great – this year’s ASB of Athletics, London Hyatt, came up with some amazing theme nights and shirt designs to get our crowd excited! Our Leadership students who plan and decorate for each game. And of course, our students who love to get involved, have fun, and make Bear Nation an amazing place to be!
