Manny’s World: Week 6 SoCal Picks

These picks aren’t bad considering that i’m picking these games all the way here in Europe.

Here are my American Football picks for the week.

Last Week Overall Record: 17-3

Current Overall Record: 92-28

MANNY’S INLAND EMPIRE GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week IE Record: 4-1

Overall IE Record: 22-8

Redlands East Valley (3-2) at No. 11 Cajon of San Bernardino (4-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Cajon

The Cowboys are looking to bounce back after Heritage pulled off the upset last week. Redlands East Valley however, defeated Heritage, so this should answer our question as to who is going to win this right? Wrong. QB Jayden Daniels and WR Dante Jones will look to get Cajon back on the right against QB Myles Herrera and the Wildcats in what most likely will be the decisive game for the Citrus Belt League title game.

Murrieta Valley (2-3) at Chaparral of Temecula (5-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Murrieta Valley

After a tough non-league schedule, the Nighthawks are ready to defend their Southwestern League title. Boise State-commit QB Hank Bachmeier will connected to WR Jordan Murry and make LB Daniel Sanchez Jr. and the Pumas human with their first loss of the year. Murrieta Valley gets to .500 with the win.

Palm Desert (5-0) at Shadow Hills of Indio (5-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Palm Desert

These two teams are undefeated and the winner might be the champion in the Desert Empire League. RB Jordan Garcia and LB Jack McQeenen should move Palm Desert to 6-0 over RB Kevin Johnson and the Knights.

Notre Dame of Riverside (4-1) at Paloma Valley of Menifee (3-2), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Paloma Valley

QB Mason Carvalho is basically a running back. The Wildcats passing game is somewhat non-existent, but MLB Jacob Torres and the Paloma Valley defense should outperform LB Adam Goergen and the Titans.

Hillcrest of Riverside (2-3) at Norte Vista of Riverside (4-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Hillcrest

Notre Vista has improved a lot this season and may have a shot in taking the River Valley League title. The Rams will play spoiler with RB Dominique Clay and LB Josh Ford should be making tackles on Braves RB Chris Melesio. Hillcrest takes the victory.

MANNY’S LOS ANGELES GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week LA Record: 4-1

Overall LA Record: 24-6

No. 4 JSerra of San Juan Capistrano (5-0) at No. 2 St. John Bosco of Bellflower (5-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: St. John Bosco

This is the best JSerra team in school history and they’re hoping to pull off a big upset, but QB DJ Uiagalelei isn’t looking to drop this game for the Braves and neither will LB/DE Cole Aubrey. RB Chris Street should have a big game, but the Lions will fall just short. Bosco gets the close victory.

No. 13 Bishop Amat of La Puente (4-1) at No. 15 Chaminade of West Hills (2-3), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Bishop Amat

The Lancers are on a roll, but it’s Mission League time and this league is unpredictable. Anyone can beat anyone. QB Blake Archuleta will look to avoid Chaminade LB Blake Antzoulatos and give Bishop Amat an important league win.

No. 14 Calabasas (4-1) at Westlake of Westlake Village (5-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Calabasas

Dropping a game against Grace Brethren of Simi Valley may not help morale against a tougher Calabasas squad in the Marmonte League opener for the Warriors. The ball will be flying with QB Jaden Casey going to WR Mycah Pittman and his core of receivers. It will be a tough task for LB De’Gabriel Floyd and the Westlake defense. Coyotes howl to victory.

Saugus (4-1) vs. Hart of Newhall (3-2) at College of Canyons of Santa Clarita, Friday, 7:30pm

Manny’s Pick: Saugus

Three teams will be battling for second place and two of them meet in this Foothill League opener. Hart has always been at or around the top of the standings, but it seems like times might be changing. The Indians want to keep tradition going, but I have to go with Saugus.

Carson (2-4) at San Pedro (3-2), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Carson

With Narbonne of Harbor City, in the way, this game will be for second place in the Marine League. Carson is battle tested and should take care of the Pirates and perhaps, they might give Narbonne a challenge.

MANNY’S ORANGE COUNTY GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week OC Record: 4-1

Overall OC Record: 23-7

Santa Margarita of Rancho Santa Margarita (2-3) vs. No. 9 Orange Lutheran (3-2) at Orange Coast College of Costa Mesa, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Orange Lutheran

The Eagles are looking to make a splash in the Trinity League opener. Anything is possible in this league and RB Jake Thomas will look to get Santa Margarita on the right track, but South Carolina-commit QB Ryan Hilinski has the OLu offense going. With LB Jackson Cloyd running the Lancers defense, Orange Lutheran should get the league win.

Fountain Valley (4-1) vs. No. 20 Los Alamitos (4-1) at Huntington Beach, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Los Alamitos

Los Al starts Sunset League play after a great showing in non-league play. RB Keanu Norman and the Griffins will be ready for QB Josh Stupin and Fountain Valley, which is also coming off a strong non-league showing themselves. Los Alamitos gets the win.

Edison of Huntington Beach (2-3) vs. Corona del Mar of Newport Beach (4-1) at Huntington Beach, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Corona del Mar

Edison is looking to bounce back to .500, but a tough Corona del Mar team is in front of them. WR Cole Koffler will look to get the Chargers ahead, but QB Ethan Garbers and WR John Humphreys are on a roll for CdM. I have to go with the Sea Kings here.

San Clemente (2-4) at Tesoro of Rancho Santa Margarita (4-2), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: San Clemente

Now that the Tritons have that ugly losing four game streak behind them, WR Jaydel Jenkins and RB RJ Donaldson will look to get a winning streak going for San Clemente. Tesoro QB Kyle Looft will look to keep his squad set for a possible league title game with Mission Viejo later in the season. I’m not sure that will happen. One Town, One Team, Another victory for San Clemente.

St. Margaret’s of San Juan Capistrano (5-1) at Santa Fe Christian of Solana Beach (3-2), Friday, 3pm

Manny’s Pick: St. Margaret’s

The Tartans are enjoying an improved season thanks to QB James Mott and LB Koa Todd. Santa Fe Christian will look to stop Mott with DE Carson Drake getting in his way. St. Margaret’s will get the Friday afternoon win.

MANNY’S SAN DIEGO GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week San Diego Record: 5-0

Overall San Diego Record: 23-7

No. 7 Torrey Pines of San Diego (5-0, 1-0) at Carlsbad (3-2, 1-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Torrey Pines

Every year, the Avocado League is anyone game. Carlsbad has the advantage with their student section “Loud Crowd” and a fantastic wide receiver Asa Turner, but the Falcons will be too much with QB Jason Heine taking his time to find an open man thanks to OT Brian Driscoll. Torrey Pines stays undefeated.

No. 8 La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad (5-0, 2-0) at San Marcos (4-1, 1-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: La Costa Canyon

Mavs OL Luka Trifunovic is owed a gift from RB Karson Lippert because he’s providing open holes for him. San Marcos QB Miles Hastings will look to catch up with La Costa Canyon, but I have LCC winning this.

Madison of San Diego (4-1) at No. 12 Cathedral  Catholic of San Diego (4-1), Friday, 6:30pm

Manny’s Pick: Cathedral Catholic

This is going to be a battle on the ground with Dons RB Shawn Poma and Madison RB Kenan Christon. Cathedral Catholic will look for DL Miles McCormick to stop Christon. The Dons will take the win.

Lincoln of San Diego (5-0) vs. St. Augustine of San Diego (4-1) at Mesa College of San Diego, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: St. Augustine

The Saints defense will be marching on with DE Michael Ambagsheer and DB Tyson McWilliams. I’m going with them over WR Ke’shun Ford and the Lincoln offense.

Vista (4-1) at Poway (4-2), Friday 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Vista

Vista is on roll and they’ll carry the momentum in Palomar League play with RB Desmond Taua leading the offense. I’m going with the Panthers over Poway.
