MARCHING BAND/COLOR GUARD Q&A: WHITE KNOLL OF SOUTH CAROLINA

With the Student Section in off-season mode, we look to put our focus on the Marching Bands and Color Guards!

This website obviously put the focus on the Student Sections as it is the only reason we stay active, but many of these Student Sections have some solid bands that give them the energy or at the least share that insane energy. They play the right music to keep the hype up, the interact with the Student Section and the work they put week after week to prep for the game is impressive and that deserves some recognition.

We did do a Marching Band/Color Guard Q&A called “I’m with the Band Q&A” (not my greatest title, I know!) with some Bands in Southern California in 2019 when we only covered Student Sections in SoCal, but with a much much bigger followed, we figured we bring this idea back to life!

Plus it helps to get the assistance from South Carolina Bands (@southcarolina_bands on Instagram), Alabama Bands (@bama_bands on Instagram) and Bands of the US (@bands_of_the_us on Instagram) helping us out to find the best Bands that want you to get to know them!

We continue our series with, yep, another South Carolina Marching Band and Color Guard. South Carolina wants you to know they have the best Band and Color Guard out there!

Today, we take a look at the White Knoll Timberwolves Marching Band and Color Guard. Some of these school names we are familiar with as we cover some of their Student Sections, but like Liberty and Ashley Ridge, we haven’t been familiar with White Knool. Perhaps, like those previously mentioned programs, this will help and perhaps they give the band credit if we do. Again, if you have a solid band, you most likely have a crazy Student Section. One must go with the other.

We spoke with three members of the White Knool Marching Band and Color Guard on how they prepare for Friday Nights and other events while also having some fun!

MARCHING BAND/COLOR GUARD Q&A: WHITE KNOLL OF SOUTH CAROLINA

What is the weekly routine to prepare for a football game and the halftime show? Are there adjustments made every week?

White Knoll: Our weekly routine is to practice usually a day or two days before the football games and to practice the section of the show we are preforming, sometimes we will also practice the day of. I feel as that what we can do differently is practice more beforehand on the field instead of only strictly music. People may get confused with the amount of information they get from just two or a day away from the football games and get very overwhelmed and mess up.

Do you enjoy the game or follow it as it goes along or are you focused with your job?

White Knoll: I focus on the game but I’m big on football because I use to play.

Do you play any pop culture songs and if so, which is your favorite?

White Knoll: When we are wining big we like to Rick Roll the other team. One pop culture song we like to play is Narco.

Make Sure to follow us in Instagram (@studentsectrep). The more followers, the better chance we can travel to visit your Student Section.

What kind of appreciation do you get from people at the games?

White Knoll: Appreciation will probably be people actually singing along to the songs that we play or do the movements that we do or any games that we do they play along. A lot of parents love us

Do you guys interact with the Student Section?

White Knoll: Yes, we interact with the Student Section quite frequently to help assist them and make them more comfortable in our band.

Do you perform at other White Knoll sports functions like basketball and how has the reception been?

White Knoll: Unfortunately, our band does not play any specific other sports. We do still play at Pep Rallies and we get a really big section wherever we play our stands tunes and it really hyped up the school to begin another day at school.

What is the funniest or most embarrassing moment as a member of the band/color guard?

White Knoll: One of the most funniest and most memorable moments I’ve had is during leadership camp and me my friends were lining the field and one of them was very certain about doing a line on the field and doing so we let them and we all come back seeing the line very wobbly and it was really funny…I fell off the gator on the way back from the field

Any other band that you enjoy hearing from the other side of the stadium?

White Knoll: One thing I really love to hear from the other side is River Bluff. Mostly because they’re one of the only ones that we’ve battled, but our drum line and their drum line get along very well.
