SoCal Student Section Week 2 Preview
It should have been tough to top last week performances from the top student sections in Week Zero, but Week 1 matched the performances.
Loud cheers and chants, powder, fog machine, powder and lights, oh and the DJs rocked with the student sections, especially the big games where their team needed the boost to get a win.
We had some student sections put on a good showing, but fell short of the Final SoCal 4 for last week. In Orange County, the San Juan Hills Stampede, Foothill Dungeon and the Santa Margarita Eagles Nest all rocked it in the OC, but the Mission Viejo Diablo Inferno repped the OC in the Final 4.
In San Diego, Helix Dawgpound and Central Crazies made a great showing, including the San Marcos Blue Crew, which came close to getting to the Final 4, but it was the La Costa Canyon Stampede that repped San Diego.
Los Angeles Region, the Newbury Park Panther Pit, Oaks Christian Lions Den and the Loyola Pride made a run for the Final SoCal 4, but it was St. John Bosco Tribe that repped LA.
Inland Empire, we had the Los Osos Grizzly Nation, Etiwanda Red Zone (A finalist last week) and the Temecula Valley Gold Zone. It was the Rancho Cucamonga Rancho Rooters that repped the IE and took the Week 1 award.
Like the Rancho Rooters, the Los Alamitos Los Locos, which took the Week Zero SoCal Student Section award, will be looking from the outside for the rest of the season.
One of the rules at SoCal Student Section is that once you win the weekly award, you can’t win it again. Share the wealth, but we do have the Top 25 Regional Student Section Rankings and the Top 25 SoCal Student Section Rankings, so the winners still have to put on a show.
Who will take Week 2, we have a preview of the possible best this week.
INLAND EMPIRE
Rancho Cucamonga (Rancho Rooters) at Norco (Cougar Den), Friday, 7pm
While the Rancho Rooters will just have to make a good showing in order to repeat as the Inland Empire Football Student Section Champion, but if they head to the road, they will run into Norco and their Cougar Den. This is going to be a great game and a loud one too! Two of the best teams in SoCal and two of the best Student Sections in SoCal. You’d have to be insane to miss this.

Shadow Hills of Indio (The Dungeon) at Great Oak of Temecula (Red Wave), Friday, 7pm
It is doubtful that the Dungeon will make the road trip, but i’m sure it would be helpful for Shadow Hills as they face a team that gets a boost from their student section. Great Oak has one of the best student sections in SoCal in the Red Wave. What is great about the Red Wave is that they stand strong with their team as they try to bounce back up. I expect the Red Wave to make the Weekly Final 4.
Cajon of San Bernardino (Cowboy Nation) at Heritage of Menifee (Patriot Pit), Friday, 7pm
I’ve seen the Patriot Pit before and they rock the stands and this should be no different against a very good Cajon squad. If Dem Boys show up, i’m guessing that is their student section name, not sure. Anyway, if they show up, this will be very loud, but I expect the Patriot Pit to go wild and control the game.
Upland (The Dawgpound) at Rancho Verde of Moreno Valley (Red Zone), Friday, 7pm
The Red Zone has a big one. They know that the Mustangs have a huge one on their hands with Upland coming to town. The Dawgpound might show up on the road, so not only will the Red Zone have to control the stands, but they will look to rattle the Scots. This is going to be a great game and fun event in the stands.
Murrieta Valley (Red Zone) at Santiago of Corona (Black Sea), Friday, 7pm
The Red Zone probably won’t travel to Corona, but the Black Sea will need to keep the uptempo up for their Sharks as any non-league win is helpful before the Big VIII League kicks off. Black Sea should deliver.
LOS ANGELES
Monrovia at Los Altos of Hacienda Heights (The Conqueror Crazies), Friday, 7pm
The Crazies will go, well, crazy! The Crazies know how to put on a show at every home game. The Conquerors will face a much tougher opponent this week, so the Crazies will have to be ready to keep the momentum on Los Altos side.
Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth at Oaks Christian of Westlake Village (Lions Den), Friday, 7pm
The Lions Den rocks every home game and they’ll be needed when the Lions face Sierra Canyon. In order to get back in the win column, Oaks Christian will need their student section to get them going. Lions Den shall come in and do their work.
Rowland of Rowland Heights at Walnut (The Stable), Friday, 7pm
Walnut has shown off on social media and I expect them to be helpful as the Mustangs will need all the help they can get against Rowland. This is a student section that has potential to be a good one in a few years. A good student section sometimes gives a boost to the team. This should be an evenly matched game where hopefully the Mustangs get an edge thanks to their student section.
Corona del Mar of Newport Beach (Kings Krew) at Palos Verdes of Palos Verdes Estates, Friday, 3pm
Sea King on Sea King violence as both teams play an afternoon game. While the CdM Kings Krew may not make the drive as school will have just got out by 3 pm, the Palos Verdes student section may make it to the game just in time after school. I’ve seen this student section before on the road. It’s a small student section, but a loud and crazy one. I expect nothing different on a Friday afternoon. If only I can remember Palos Verdes student section name.
Serra of Gardena at Calabasas (Coyote Pack), Friday, 7pm
This is going to be a great game and even better if the Coyote Pack shows up. The Pack is always hit and miss, but if they show up, we shall see and fantastic game and a game where the Coyotes can get a slight edge. Hopefully, the Pack shows.
ORANGE COUNTY
Foothill of Santa Ana (Foothill Dungeon) vs. Beckman of Irvine (Patriot Pit) at Tustin, Friday, 7pm
After a great showing last week against Tustin and the Tustin Barn, the Foothill Dungeon will look to top another local student section. The Dungeon battled the Barn last week, 45 minutes before kickoff. The battle was on from start to finish and both student sections felt it. In the end, the Knights beat Tustin to take the Crosstown Rivalry Trophy. This week, I expect the Dungeon to battle with the Beckman Patriot Pit. The Patriot Pit is a young student section, but they should battle and try to give the Patriots an edge. This should be a fun one on the field and in the stands.

El Modena of Orange (Rowdy Rooters) at Segerstrom of Santa Ana (The Jungle), Friday, 7pm
The 2019 road show continues for the Rowdy Rooters as they will borrow Segerstrom stadium and play…Segerstrom. The Segerstrom Jungle used to be a fantastic student section, but they have disappeared. Maybe with the Rowdy Rooters taking over their stadium, the Jungle will return. The Rowdy Rooters will also try to remind everyone that despite the road show, this student section isn’t dead. This has the potential to be a fun one in the stands. Plus, this looks like a good game.
hey @MAlvarez02 we were a little upset we weren’t mentioned in your latest article… but you still have time to reconsider which student section will deliver this week. we’ll give you a hint: The Rowdy Rooters @SoCalSections @ocvarsity @elmodenafb @SteveFryer @ocvarsityguy pic.twitter.com/ktHyak3npc

Pacifica of Garden Grove (Mariners Nation) at Capistrano Valley of Mission Viejo (The Cage), Friday, 7pm
The Cage will look to battle with everyone in the OC and get on top as the Cougars face Pacifica. The Cage will go with what is working and that is the powder and the loud noise. It is doubtful that the Mariners student section will make the drive down the 5 freeway, but you never know. Expect The Cage to go wild and make a dent this weekend in the student section weekly awards.

South Hills of West Covina (The Dawgpound) at San Juan Hills of San Juan Capistrano (The Stampede), Friday, 7pm
If the Dawgpound makes the drive deep down to South Orange County, then bravo! South Hills needs the help against a very good the Stallions. The Stampede will pack the stands once again with a new theme. If this student section travels, they might battle for the top spot in SoCal. Fantastic student section and I expect another big showing as San Juan Hills battled the defending CIF-Southern Section Champions.

Bishop Amat of La Puente (Dawgpound) at JSerra of San Juan Capistrano (Lions Den), Friday, 7pm
Although a small student section, The Lions Den is a loud and wild one. The Lions Den makes a lot of noise with any instrument they can find. Can you imagine if the Bishop Amat Dawgpound made the drive down to San Juan Capistrano? That would be insane and very loud. JSerra gets the advantage and more so if the Lions Den get crazy.
SAN DIEGO
Oceanside at San Marcos (Blue Crew), Friday, 7pm
The Avocado League kicks off and I expect the Blue Crew to turn it up a notch, which is hard because they always have at a high. The Blue Crew will battle with the Pirates Student Section, but it should be no battle for the Blue Crew. While they cheers for their team in an evenly matched team, the Blue Crew shall keep San Marcos pumped up all night.

Centennial of Corona (Dawgpound) at Cathedral Catholic of San Diego (Los Locos), Friday, 7pm
It is doubtful the Dawgpound makes the drive down the 15 freeway, so I expect Los Locos to have the edge in the stands. The Dons need all the help they can get against a very good Centennial squad. Los Locos will have to live up to the name and go wild to keep the momentum in the Dons side.
San Clemente (Loud Crowd) at La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad (Stampede), Friday, 7pm
The San Diego opponents tour continues for San Clemente as they face the Mavericks. The Loud Crowd isn’t to far away from home, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they make the drive to San Diego. Whatever gets them the attention they have been wanting will work and this will work. Plus, the Tritons run into last week San Diego finalist in the Stampede. LCC has a loud and rowdy student section that will rock the stands. This should be an evenly matched game and fun one in the stands.
Stampede brought the energy tonight! Great overtime win! @SSovacool55 @mavs_asb pic.twitter.com/PkJygVe7ZE

Olympian of Chula Vista (Eagles Nest) at Torrey Pines of San Diego (The Chaos), Friday, 7:15pm
The Falcons are back home and The Chaos will be waiting for them in the stands. It is doubtful The Chaos will have a student section battle, but nevertheless, they will go wild for their Falcons as usual.
St. Augustine of San Diego (Saints Pit) vs. Loyola of Los Angeles (Loyola Pride) at Mesa College of San Diego, Friday, 7pm
The Saints Pit is wild and crazy. Both are the same, but you get the idea. The Saints battle the Cubs in a Catholic Battle. This will be a tough drive for The Pride, but the Saints Pit will be ready for anything and go wild in the stands. If the Saints need the help, they have the Pit to rescue them and get them going.
