  2024 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FOOTBALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGSNovember 19, 2024

  We continue our Final Rankings in all of the 50 states we covered this football season. 

  To say I’m overwhelmed with the work that comes along with this is an understatement.

  We had Student Section of the Week for over 10 weeks and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which one wanted it more.

  Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want and marketing is key. 

  You will see top-notch Student Sections miss out at the top spot, but we kept saying it over and over and over again, in order to be considered number one, you have to win the Student Section of the Week title. Otherwise, what is the point of having that contest?!

  I know Student Sections complain, but remember it’s thousands of Student Sections and only me. Social media is your friend if used correctly.

  When we started covering Student Sections in 2015, it began with only Orange County, California. We expanded in 2016 to Southern California before expanding to other states last year.

  We had Murrieta Mesa Beast taking the SoCal title in 2016, Vista Murrieta Bronco Bleacher Creatures in 2017, Rancho Cucamonga Rooters in 2018, Los Alamitos Locos in 2019, Murrieta Valley Red Zone in 2021, Carlsbad Loud Crowd in 2022 and Chapparral Puma Pit in 2023.

  Southern California is the headquarters of the Student Section Report and this regions means the world to me.

  This group is so deep that we have honorable mentions that would battle for a state title elsewhere. A very deep region!

  We will have 5 Student Sections in Southern California that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.

  2024 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FOOTBALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGS

  RED = PLAYOFF BOUND

  1. Great Oak Red Wave (2023 Rank: 3)

  Red Wave knows the assignment. In fact, I’m pretty sure they invented the assignment. The Red Wave packs the stands every home game and goes insane! They enjoy the music at the most appropriate times, something that some Student Sections struggle to do, they go nuts when it’s time to rattle their opponent and lost their minds when the Wolfpack score! The Red Wave knows how to work social media and always love to show off their school spirit. We’ll see how they will do when they get ready to vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs with the top seed in the Southwest Regio, but one thing is for sure, the Great Oak Red Wave are the Inland Empire Football Student Section Champions!

  2. Aliso Niguel Den (2023 Rank: NR)

  The Den turn it up a bunch of notches! I didn’t think they would get this crazy, but they did and had control of the OC all year! They were one of two SoCal Student Sections to win the National Student Section of the Week! Great group of kids and they wanted this and got it! We’ll see how they will do when they get ready to vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs, but this was a no brainer, the Aliso Niguel Den are the Orange County Football Student Section Champions!

  3. Carlsbad Loud Crowd (2023 Rank: 2)

  This was a close one, but the Loud Crowd held on for another San Diego Football Student Section title! Pack house and loud and insane! The pregame stuff they do is amazing and that continues with the fog machine, powder toss, flares and confetti. We’ll see how they will do when they get ready to vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs, but for the fifth time in six years, the Carlsbad Loud Crowd are the San Diego Football Student Section Champions!

  4. Millikan Mob (2023 Rank: 13)

  The Mob went wild in the stands and they had every reason to with their Rams beating Long Beach Poly for the first time in 15 years and watching them win their first Moore League title in 51 years! It was a historic season on the field and now in the stands. We’ll see how they will do when they get ready to vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs, but for now, the Millikan Mob are the Los Angeles Football Student Section Champions!

  5. Bakersfield Drill Crew (2023 Rank: 38)

  The Drill Crew worked social media way better than anyone else in this region. When you have as much fun as this Student Section, you can’t blame them for showing off their school spirit! We’ll see how they will do when they get ready to vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs, but one thing is for sure, the Bakersfield Drill Crew are the Kern/San Luis Obispo Football Student Section Champions!

  Let’s take a quick timeout from the Final State Rankings and go back to the Student Section Report roots!

  When this Student Section Rankings started with OC Sidelines in 2015, I didn’t expect an overwhelming reaction. We remember naming La Habra Clan (Now the La Habra Highlander Huddle) was our first Football Student Section Champion.

  We extend the Student Section Rankings to Southern California when OCSidelines became SoCal Sidelines with Murrieta Mesa being the 2016 SoCal Student Section Champions. When SoCalSidelines went out of business, we began SoCal Student Sections, which later became the Student Section Report.

  While we are the first and only ones to ever rank Student Sections all 50 states, it all started in Southern California, so I have still have knowledge of the Student Section scene in SoCal despite focusing in all 50 states.

  The winners in each of the five SoCal Regions will battle in the National Student Section playoffs!

  Let’s see who will battle for SoCal!

  The time has come to start ranking 50 states that we covered this football season. 

  To say I’m overwhelmed with the work that comes along with this is a huge huge understatement.

  We had 12 Student Section of the Week winners in Arizona and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

  Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want it and marketing is key.

  A Student Section that doesn’t post videos or photos of there Student Section on a consistent basis is like a tree falling with no one around. It doesn’t make any noise.

  This is our fourth year covering Football Student Sections in Arizona. We had the Highland Hawks Nest win it in 2021 & 2022 and Liberty Uproar in 2023.

  This is a state that is deep and loaded with insane and crazy Student Sections and we discovered several more this fall. This might be one of deeper states when it comes to Student Sections.

  We will have 4 Student Sections in Arizona that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.

  So, let’s see who made the list and who is the best in the Grand Canyon State.

  2024 ARIZONA FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  RED = PLAYOFF BOUND

  1. Highland Nest (2023 Rank: 2)

  The Nest is back on top! After battling last year and falling to the 2 spot, the Nest reloaded and handled business this fall. They pack the stands and get crazy weird. We’ll see how they will do when they get ready to vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs, but for the third time in four years, the Highland Hawks Nest are the Arizona Football Student Section Champions!

  2. Brophy Prep Stampede (2023 Rank: 3)

  I felt like I was watching a behind the scenes episode of the Stampede this fall. The Student Section may not be the largest, but they make up for it with the hype they bring in the stands. The Hype is definitely real here. Social media is your friend if done right and the Stampede worked the marketing this fall. I have a feeling the Stampede will pull some upsets when they get ready to vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs!

  3. Pinnacle Crazies (2023 Rank: 6)

  The Crazies were never afraid of showing off their Student Section. They were consistent and did amazing work on social media and for that, they will be ready to vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs!

  The time has come to start ranking 50 states that we covered this football season. 

  To say I’m overwhelmed with the work that comes along with this is a huge huge understatement.

  We had 11 Student Section of the Week winners in New Mexico and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

  Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want it and marketing is key. 

  You will see top-notch Student Sections miss out at the top spot, but we kept saying it over and over and over again, in order to be considered number one, you have to win the Student Section of the Week title. Otherwise, what is the point of having that contest?!

  I know Student Sections complain but remember it’s thousands of Student Sections and only me. Social media is your friend if used correctly.

  A Student Section that doesn’t post videos or photos of there Student Section on a consistent basis is like a tree falling with no one around. It doesn’t make any noise.

  This is our third year covering Football Student Sections in Nevada. We had the Farmington Rowdy Crowd in 2022 and St. Michael’s Blue Crew in 2023.

  This is a state has we still have a tough time discovering when it comes to Student Sections. We see them, but it’s not as consistent. Our number one choice however, was an easy choice, super easy.

  We will have 2 Student Sections in New Mexico that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.

  So, let’s see who made the list and who is the best in the Land of Enchantment.

  2024 NEW MEXICO FINAL TOP 25 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  RED = PLAYOFF BOUND

  1. Rio Rancho Mob Squad (2023 Rank: 3)

  Whoever is running the @rio_rancho_rams Instagram page, you did this! The consistency of promoting the Mob Squad and showing off the Student Section is the reason why Rio Rancho is the top dawg this year! @actionportsphotographer505 on Instagram did their part as well. This was a team victory! I suggest other Student Sections take notes! They may not have the biggest Student Section, but they make up for it with their marketing. Bonus points for the Alien in the stands “Roswell”. We’ll see how they will fare when they vote in the Student Section playoffs, but one this is for sure, the Rio Rancho Mob Squad is your 2024 New Mexico Football Student Section of the Year!

  

  2. La Cueva (2023 Rank: 2)

  La Cueva posted here and there, but it was this photo that snuck them past Hobbs for the 2 spot. A good number of Students in the stands that like to have fun! We’ll see how they will do when they vote in the Student Section playoffs soon!

  Hobbs in the Top 5 of the New Mexico Student Section Rankings is becoming a common thing. They have displayed consistency year after year. They can bring it in the stands in much larger numbers than the majority in this state and show it off on social media as well!

  Cleveland Student Section can pack the stands and are pretty good at distracting their opponent based on the wacky hats they wear. They definitely like to party in the stands and go nuts for their team!

  We will have 3 Student Sections in Nevada that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.

  2024 NEVADA FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Las Vegas (2023 Rank: 9)

  I kept going back and forth with the Liberty Patriot Pit and Las Vegas, but what made me make this decision was Las Vegas social media work. They marketed themselves so well and showed off their school spirit almost every week. Their amazing promotion got them the top spot. We’ll see how far they will go when they vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs, but for now they’re the 2024 Nevada Football Student Section of the Year!

  2. Liberty Patriot Pit (2023 Rank: 1)

  This was a close one. The Patriot Pit is always at the top of the Football Student Section Rankings. Such an amazing Student Section that is consistent. Amazing Student Section leaders every year. I made the tip to Las Vegas to see the Patriot Pit and they did not disappoint. We’ll see if the hype goes into the Student Section playoffs when they begin to vote pretty soon!

  3. Arbor View Red Sea (2023 Rank: 13)

  I always wondered if the Red Sea would show up on social media on a regular basis. Well, they showed up in 2024 and this is not only a fantastic football team, but an amazing Student Section as they will vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs!

  4. Spanish Springs Cougar Den (2023 Rank: 3)

  The Cougar Den rinsed and repeat this fall. An amazing Student Section that showed off their school spirit on social media. The Cougar Den knows the playbook.

  

  5. Bishop Gorman G-Block (2023 Rank: 2)

  While this is an unusual spot for the G-Block to be at in the 5 spot, this Student Section didn’t promote themselves that much and thankfully we saw them in the background in a couple of posts. We went to the Liberty/Bishop Gorman game this year and the G-Block did not make the trip. Dropping a few spots this year might be a boost to market themselves in 2025. This is a fantastic Student Section.

  2024 UTAH FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Syracuse Curse (2023 Rank: 6)

  The Curse packed the stands and went above and beyond in said stands! They were on fire and close from it at one of their games! The marketing on Instagram was on point and they showed off their Student Section very well. We’ll see how far they will go when they vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs, but for now they’re the 2024 Utah Football Student Section of the Year!

  

  2. Orem Ambush (2023 Rank: 21)

  The Ambush may not have the largest Student Section, but they’re always going nuts in the stands! What also definitely helped was their fantastic social media marketing. They showed off their Student Section and it got them a high seed as well as one of the National Student Section of the Week titles this fall. We’ll see if they can market and promote the voting in the National Football Student Section playoffs!

  We had 9 Student Section of the Week winners in Hawaii and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

  We did see a small improvement in the Student Section scene this fall in Hawaii and we hope to see more improvements in 2025.

  The Hawaii Football Student Section Champion will move on to Regionals Student Section Playoffs in hopes to get the National Student Section Playoffs and hopefully obtain the National Student Section Championship banner as voting will get involved in November!

  2024 HAWAII FINAL TOP 15 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Kahuku Code Red

  While we noticed more Student Sections in Hawaii, this was still Code Red territory in 2024. It may change next year, but with a respected football program comes with a Student Section you want to become and chase after. Code Red will head to the Student Section playoffs, but for now they can celebrate as the back-to-back Hawaii Football Student Section of the Year!

  

  2. Wai’anae

  This Student Section looks like they can prevent a threepeat in 2025 for Kahuku Code Red. This Student Section interacts with the band, which is a rarity, and I love it.

  In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and in 2021, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states two years ago.

  We went to all 50 states in winter of 2023. No one has ever done that before…until now!

  We have discovered a lot of Student Sections here thanks to several past resources close to us, including my older brother. I’m sure well discover more Student Sections this fall, but it will be tough to break in the Top 40 with a state stacked with amazing Student Sections.

  Last Football season, we had the Liberty Uproar as the top Football Student Section in Arizona. The Uproar snuck by here. It takes a lot to take out Highland Nest, but they did. It will take more than what they did last season to do the same. More social media work and show off that amazing Student Section.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Arizona, we have to go with the Pinnacle Crazies. The Crazies can hang with the best of them, that’s a given. The problem is, can they be the Student Section that can end up on top? It will take a lot to do that, but the Crazies are just crazy enough to think it can be done.

  

  Will the Crazies take the top spot in the state or will the Uproar take another one in the Grand Canyon State? Let’s find out.

  2024 ARIZONA FOOTBALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGS

  1. Highland Nest

  The Nest is one of the best in the state, year in and year out, so it must of been a surprise to finish number two in last season Football Student Section Rankings. The Nest didn’t show off their Student Section on Instagram as much last year and word of mouth can only go so far. The Nest has to prove that they are still the top dawg in Arizona. I think they’ll prove that this fall.

  This last winter, we went to all 50 states. No one has ever done that before…until now!

  SoCal is our bread and butter as we are located here in Orange County. The Student Section Report started as SoCal Student Sections in 2018 and before that we covered Orange County at OC Sidelines and later SoCal at SoCal Sidelines in 2015. While we have grown outside of SoCal, it is still one of the best to cover. Amazing school spirit down here!

  With Student Section Report going out of state for 3 games this fall and only being in Orange County for only 2 games, maybe 3 games, we leave it up to OC Student Sections (@OCStudentSections on Instagram). The work that they do is remarkable and they have a different system than us, but keep in mind, College Sports go off of two rankings and are trusted. Believe me when I say (or type) this, trust these guys, they have their business handled.

  Last Football season, we had Chaparral Puma Pit as the top Football Student Section in SoCal and in the Nation as they took the National Football Student Section Title. Just to take the top seed in Southern California is brutal enough being one of the four best Student Sections in the Nation. It’s already hard enough to be the best in the Inland Empire with the Great Oak Red Wave in the way as well. The Puma Pit has a tough task ahead of them. It will be worth it as they did it last year!

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for SoCal, it’s the Redondo Union Flock. The Flock has been the best in Los Angeles the last two seasons, but they need to aim higher. Take SoCal and take the National Title. It is possible for the Flock to take SoCal and compete for a National Title.

  

  
  Will the Flock get past the Puma Pit, Red Wave and the Carlsbad Loud Crowd? We’ll find out.

  2024 SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION TOP 40 PRESEASON RANKINGS (AND TOP 20 REGIONAL RANKINGS)

  1. Carlsbad Loud Crowd (San Diego Region)

  This is one of those very few Student Sections where anything less than a National Student Section Championship is unacceptable and everyone would understand. The Loud Crowd has set the standard these days as one of the powerhouses in the Nation when it comes to Student Sections and school spirit. I don’t know how many Student Sections across the country have mentioned what a powerful Student Section the Loud Crowd is. The Loud Crowd will take advantage of the new voting system that was adopted last winter. The Loud Crowd is WAYYY OVERDUE of a National Title!

  New Mexico has about one or two Student Sections that are potential powerhouses where a good nine can battle amongst each other, but at some point one of these Student Sections will have to be a powerhouse in the fall. If they can be like the Student Sections they are in the winter, this could be a fun battle!

  Last Football season, we had St. Michael’s Blue Crew as the top Football Student Section in New Mexico. The Blue Crew took this one easily, but this won’t be easy in 2024. New Mexico has some good Student Sections and with solid group of kids and a strong social media game, someone might take them down, but we’ll have to see.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for New Mexico, we have to go with the Centennial. They showed off some school spirit last season and they can hang. Can they hang with the very best of them? Perhaps. As long as they show it off on social media they should be fine.

  

  Will Centennial make a big splash in 2024 or will the Blue Crew repeat as the best in The Land of Enchantment? Let’s find out.

  This is a state that doesn’t have a solid powerhouse Student Section that has control of the top spot. This is a spot that anyone can take. Now granted it has been a back and forth with the Liberty Patriot Pit and the Bishop Gorman G-Block for the top spot, but it wasn’t a landslide 1-2 battle. This is anyone’s game.

  As mentioned, the Liberty Patriot Pit as the top Football Student Section in Nevada. Somebody in Nevada will look to take down the Patriot Pit and maybe it won’t be Bishop Gorman. Patriot Pit will look to end the cycle and try to repeat. Other Student Sections in Nevada will look to give the Patriot Pit a break from the top spot.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Nevada, we have to go with Elko. Elko has one of the best basketball Student Sections in the state and I feel that they can make the same amount of noise this fall.

  

  Will Elko have what it takes to take control in the Silver State or will this be another Patriot Pit/G-Block battle? Let’s find out.

  We begin with the 2024 Football Student Section Season with a preview of Hawaii.

  This so far seems to be a two Student Section show in Hawaii, mainly with last season Football and Basketball Student Section Champions, Kahuku Code Red. Hopefully we’ll see more than two Student Sections on the battle

  As mentioned, last Football season, we had Kahuku Code Red as the top Football Student Section in Hawaii. It just seens that this will once again be Code Red season, but will someone push them past the tide and prevent the repeat?

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Hawaii, it’s Punahou. This might be the only Student Section that I think can dethrone Kahuku.
