Week 10 SoCal Student Section of the Week: Rancho Cucamonga Rooters

When your football team defeats their bitter league rivals, your student section is going to turn it up a few notches.

Even more so when it is a powerhouse student section.

Another student section that is well known saw their team complete their perfect season, while another one took a league title and another football team took a perfect season, which was a boost for an improved student section.

Let’s see our SoCal Student Section of the week nominees and name out Week 10 SoCal Student Section of the week.

The Torrey Pines Chaos has been just that to their opposing student sections and their teams, chaos.

The Chaos enjoyed the Falcons huge 38-0 victory over La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad to keep the surfboard, a rivalry trophy given to the winner.

The victory gave Torrey Pines of San Diego the Avocado League title and an undefeated season.

The Chaos will look to take the San Diego Student Section title in next week Football Student Section Top 20 Rankings.

The St. John Bosco Tribe has enjoyed another big season with the Braves 56-0 victory over Servite of Anaheim as St. John Bosco of Bellflower took the Trinity League title and an undefeated season.

The Tribe has grown and improved thanks to a brand new stadium on their school location. The Tribe should be a massive powerhouse by next year.

We’ll see where The Tribe will be ranked in the Los Angeles Football Student Section Rankings next week.

The Los Alamitos Los Locos went wild thanks to their 17-10 victory over Edison of Huntington Beach to take a share of the Sunset League title.

As some already know, I am also a writer for OCVarsity, where I cover high school sports and their student sections. Los Locos know about it because they made cardboard cutouts of myself and a few other key writers of the newspaper.

It was an honor, but I wasn’t surprised, this is one of the best student sections in Southern California.

Where will the Los Locos be ranked at in our Orange County Football Student Section Rankings next week? We’ll find out.

In the end, The Rancho Cucamonga Rooters went wild in their Cougars big 34-20 upset victory over Upland.

The Rooters rocked the stands, but they have been consistently going crazy for several years.

With close to 2,000 votes, the Rancho Cucamonga Rooters ended on top, like their football team, as the Week 10 SoCal Student Section of the Week.

We spoke with Rancho Rooter members Nathan Moretti and Felicia Banahene on what it took to take the SoCal Student Section of the Week title.

You guys are the Week 10 So Cal Student Section of the week, beating out the Los Alamitos Los Locos, St. John Bosco Tribe and the Torrey Pines Chaos. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Southern California?

Moretti: I honestly think that there is no school like Rancho Cucamonga.  At no other school will you see such a level of diversity, kindness, and academic achievement where everyone comes together in school spirit.  Everyone buys in to school pride, from the principal, to the teachers, and to the students. We put everything we have into making our section stand out because we don’t want any student to forget these games.

Banahene: I don’t believe it took much, when you have such a strong cougar family and they know our student section is the best, we come together to show that.

What is your most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the student section?

Moretti: My most memorable game was an away game against our rival Los Osos High School on October 19.  It was our pink out game and even though we were away, hundreds of kids filled the stands in a wave of pink.  We had powder and confetti and tortillas to throw and it was amazing. We introduced new chants as well and the crowd loved them.  It also didn’t hurt that we beat our rivals.

Banahene: As a member or the section I would have to say the best game there has been was the Los Osos pink out game. Our rivals is always a good game.

Favorite theme?

Moretti: My favorite theme is our blackout.  Looking at the stands from the front, it’s crazy to see a wave of black shirts and bandanas.  It really makes our section look unified and intimidating.

Banahene: Pink out or the blackout game. Because not only are we call coming in back but so is our football boys. So when they feel ready we’re also ready & gives them confidence that they got support.

Favorite chant?

Moretti: My favorite chant is our “I Believe” chant at the end of a winning game where we chant “I Believe That We Just Won!” over and over and over.  Everyone goes crazy and louder than ever. Plus the football players come up in front of us and chant it with us. It was especially awesome when we beat Upland for the League Championship last week.

Banahene: Ain’t No Party Like a Rancho Party ! Best chant out there, always gets the crowd hype.

What’s your least favorite chant that you hear from the other side of the stadium/gym?

Moretti: My least favorite chant to hear from the other side is “We Can’t Hear You!” because I know for a fact that they hear us loud and clear, but they can’t think of a chant so they try to make us feel bad.  It honestly does not bother me that much because we just yell it back louder than they can ever be.

Banahene: I would have to say “We Can’t Hear You” knowing we always bring the heat. So that’s when we have to up them 10x!!

Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section!”

Moretti: One insane student section I’ve seen was at Great Oak High School.  They usually have packed stands and are very loud and have a lot of props like powder.  They would definitely be a section I would want to see first-hand.

Banahene: I believe Calabasas has a great student section!
