WEEK ZERO STUDENT SECTION BATTLES
We know the Mission Hills Growl Crowd of San Marocs can rock it at home, but can they do on the road against the Chaparral Green Fanatics of Temecula?
After close to two years, the football student section is back!
Football was briefly played in the spring of 2021 and while covering the sport for the Orange County Register, the student sections were definitely missed. The stadiums were quiet. It didn’t feel right.
It could be that the snack bar was closed, so you couldn’t smell the overpriced nachos that didn’t have enough cheese.
With the pandemic still around, this is as close to normal we will get, but student sections aren’t normal.
These student sections are going to be crazy tonight and it will potentially be back and forth. Student Section battles are amazing and insane!
Here are the Student Section battle to lookout for for Week Zero!
WEEK ZERO STUDENT SECTION BATTLES
STUDENT SECTION BATTLE OF THE WEEK
Chino Hills Dawgpound at Ayala Bone Zone of Chino Hills, 7pm
The Battle of the Bone. This is one of those games I really want to go and check out one day. The city practically shutdowns for this game. Expect this battle to return to its crazy form!
INLAND EMPIRE
Norco Cougar Den at Vista Murrieta Bronco Bleacher Creatures, 7pm
In 2019, this game was at Norco and the Bronco Bleacher Creatures made the drive to Norco and took over! Now, it’s at Vista Murrieta and while the BBC will be packed, the Cougar Den will need to do what the Broncos did on the road. Will this be another road warrior or will the Vista Murrieta BBC takeover Norco again?
Murrieta Mesa Beast at Temescal Canyon Blue Hole of Lake Elsinore, 7pm
The Beast can travel and the Blue Hole will be ready to defend their home. Blue Hole can put on a show, but so can the Beast!
Indio at Shadow Hills Dungeon of Indio, 7pm
While the Indio Student Section isn’t well known, this is a city rivalry game and we definitely know that the Shadow Hills Dungeon will be electric.
Mission Hills Growl Crowd of San Marcos at Chaparral Green Fanatics of Temecula, 7pm
Not sure if the Growl Crowd likes to travel. San Marcos isn’t that far from Temecula. Just a nice drive up the 15 freeway. If they do, they’ll be in for a treat with the Green Fanatics. The Fanatics are a great home student section.
Santiago Black Sea of Corona at Heritage Patriot Pit of Menifee, 7pm
I would love to see the Patriot Pit of old. They used to rock it. They do a great job at home and I can expect them to have control of their home turf because Black Sea doesn’t really travel, but if they did, then I’ll regret not putting Santiago in the IE Top 25 Student Section Preseason Rankings.
LOS ANGELES
Chaminade Cage of West Hills at Oaks Christian Lions Den of Westlake Village, 7pm
I’ve been at this game before. Both student sections are wild. The Cage can rock it and so can the Lions Den. I don’t expect anything different this season.
Los Altos Conqueror Crazies of Hacienda Heights at Wilson of Hacienda Heights, 7pm
This is another city rivalry and I am also expecting to hear a lot from Wilson as far as Student Sections are concerned. Los Altos has a great Student Section and I expect them to get their team going and to defend their city.
Central of Miami, FL at St. John Bosco Tribe of Bellflower, 7pm
Now, I didn’t have the Central Student Section in the 2020 Florida Student Section Watch List, so I highly doubt they will travel cross country. Central has a great team, so the Tribe will have to be on their A game.
La Serna Kingdom of Whittier vs. Bonita Den of La Verne at California High School of Whittier, 7pm
The Kingdom is a fantastic Student Section at home. Hoping to see that on social media. The Den is an amazing Student Section at home during basketball season, so I’m not sure how their football Student Section and on the road. We’ll have to wait and see.
Camarillo Scorpion Cyclone vs. Hart Tribe of Newhall at College of Canyons of Santa Clarita, 7pm
Camarillo isn’t that far from Santa Clarita, so the Scorpion Cyclone can travel. Not sure if they will, but we know the Hart Tribe will be ready!
ORANGE COUNTY
Servite Asylum of Anaheim vs. Edison MESS of Huntington Beach at Santa Ana Stadium, 7pm
The noise pollution is going to get awful on Friday in the city of Santa Ana. The Mighty Edison Student Section, otherwise known as the MESS will head to Santa Ana and battle with the Servite Asylum. A lot of shenanigans with back and forth chants will arise tonight. We’ll see that on social media as well. This is going to be a fun one.
Santa Margarita Eagles Nest of Rancho Santa Margarita vs. San Juan Hills Stampede of San Juan Capistrano at Saddleback College of Mission Viejo, 7pm
What a way to kickoff the return of the revamped Saddleback football stadium. The Eagles Nest will be rockin tonight and while it is not a home game, the Stampede will travel the short distance. The Stampede can throw a party and the Eagles Nest is insanely loud. It’s going to be an all-around show at Saddleback College.
Woodbridge Tribe of Irvine at Portola Dawgpound of Irvine, 7pm
The start for the 2021 Fence Post Trophy for the City Championship starts tonight and the Tribe will be needed to make the drive up Yale and rattle the Bulldogs. The Dawgpound will look to defend their home stadium and they should. Dawgpound is a fantastic Student Section.
Upland Dogpound (or Unit) at La Habra Clan, 7pm
This is a great football rivalry and I expect the Clan to go wild. This rivalry will be even better if the Dogpound (or the Unit) arrives. Both Student Sections are amazing, but I’ve seen the Upland Student Section and they are very loud!
Tustin Barn at Capistrano Valley Cage of Mission Viejo, 7pm
I’ll be at this game tonight. I can’t wait to see the Cage in action for a football game as I have only seen them during basketball season. The Cage is so amazing and I’m sure I’ll have baby powder on me tonight because they love throwing that around. As for the Tustin Barn, they are a great home Student Section, but I’m not sure they are down to take the 5 South all the way to Avery Parkway, but we shall see.
SAN DIEGO
St. Augustine Saints Pit of San Diego at El Camino Jungle of Oceanside, 7pm
The Jungle can rock it at home games, but I would like to see it on social media. This is a fantastic Student Section with great leaders. They’ll need to show up because the Saints Pit can travel and if they show up, expect a nutty show from them. Bonus points if they bring the purple curtain. Cover your eyes!
Rancho Bernardo Stable of San Diego at San Marcos Blue Crew, 7pm
I have this feeling that the Stable is going to be huge this season. If they travel to San Marcos, that would be crazy because we know the Blue Crew is insane. One of the best. To have those two Student Sections to go back and forth, I need to see that!
Cathedral Catholic Los Locos of San Diego at Torrey Pines Cardinal Chaos of San Diego, 7:15pm
Hoping Los Locos travels to Torrey Pines, but they better be prepared for the Cardinal Chaos because they’re a savage Student Section. Los Locos is electric and it would be awesome to see them go back and forth!
Tesoro Titan Army of Rancho Santa Margarita at La Costa Canyon Stampede of Carlsbad, 7pm
Tesoro is just down the 5 to La Costa Canyon. While traffic is a pain, no excuses! The Titan Army is a phenomenal Student Section and it would be nice to see them battle with the LCC Stampede. The Stampede has been great over the years and hopefully they return to form tonight!
Steele Canyon Cougar Den of Spring Valley at Eastlake Titan Army of Chula Vista, 6:30pm
The Titan Army has been quiet over the years, so I’m hoping they return in 2021. Not sure if the Cougar Den will travel, but if the Titan Army stays quiet, then this would be a great time for the Den to take over a visiting stadium.
