Will the Los Alamitos Locos defending their SoCal Student Section Football title or will one of SoCal other best take them down?

Welcome to the only website in the entire world that has a student section preseason rankings.

I’ve been covering student sections since 2015 when I used to write for OC Sidelines, but a year later we became SoCal Sidelines and that is when I was introduced to the Southern California Student Section scene.

Now, while we are now covering Student Sections in Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Nevada and Northern California, SoCal is still our main hub!

With a bunch of fantastic Student Sections ranging from Santa Barbara to Calexico, we have to have some honorable mentions. Here are the ten that are outside the Top 25.

Poway Titan Terror

JSerra Pride of San Juan Capistrano

San Clemente Loud Crowd

Murrieta Valley Red Zone

Etiwanda Red Zone

Centennial Dawgpound of Corona

El Camino Growl Crowd of Oceanside

Rancho Bernardo Stampede of San Diego

Palm Desert Aztec Army

Chaparral Green Fanatics of Temecula

Mission Viejo Diablo Inferno

West Covina Bulldog Nation

Again, these are preseason rankings, so if anyone disagrees, you have three months to prove us wrong when we bust out the final rankings in late November.

Now, what gets you noticed to get that respect your Student Section wants? Easy question and an easy answer.

You have to work social media and market your Student Section. A photo and a video of your Student Section is really all that is required. Pretty simple.

Does a tree make a sound with no one is around? In this case, no it doesn’t. With no social media, you’re Student Section won’t get recognized.

Also, take your Student Section to the road. Go to those away games. Yes, I’m aware the traffic all over SoCal can be a pain in the neck on a Friday, but it isn’t that bad. Your football team needs you, cheer them on in the away stands.

Of course if you’re Student Section made this list, you probably know all of the above by now.

Finally, be smart! Don’t chant anything that is remotely offensive, stay away from anything that can be offensive as far as your themes, what you wear and what you chant! We have already banned a Student Section after what they did in June and I’d hate to do the same thing again. Be Smart!

Enough talk, lets break out the preseason Student Section Rankings for Southern California!

1. Vista Murrieta Bronco Bleacher Creatures (2019 Ranking: 2nd)

One of the most respected student sections in the country. The Bronco Bleacher Creatures puts on a crazy show and it is something you really need to see in person. It’s an attraction. Social media is on point as well. While they do lose great leaders from graduation, they can rebound with new leaders. I love this student section.

2. Los Alamitos Locos  (2019 Rank: 1st)

The Locos took the 2019 SoCal Football Student Section title. This time around the Griffins are loaded with talent on the field that it will become an attraction to attend the games. That means more Locos in the student section. We’ll definitely see it since the Locos run a fantastic social media game!

3. St. John Bosco Tribe of Bellflower (2019 Rank: 12th)

I’m sure having one of the best football programs in the country helps, but the Tribe can make some noise of their own. They are a crazy bunch and show up in large numbers. I hope to see a lot of the Tribe on social media. This school eats wins.

4. Villa Park Black Pack (2019 Rank: 15th)

The Black Pack is back in their home stadium. This group is going to fill up the stands like the old days and they love to travel. The social media game is on point and I expect the Black Pack to make a run for number one.

5. Servite Asylum of Anaheim (2019 Rank: 10th)

The Asylum is always at the top. One of the most respected student section and a dynasty. Great social media and better student sections with the crazy themes and insane chants! Credo!

6. Carlsbad Loud Crowd (2019 Rank: 3rd)

Until someone takes them down, they remain number one! They’ve taken the San Diego Football Student Section of the Year title for the last three seasons, but something tells me five student sections underneath will take them down. As long as Carlsbad shows off the school spirit on social media and makes it crazy as usual, then the champs stay on top.

7. San Marcos Blue Crew (2019 Rank: 7th)

Now that we have our student section of the week voting on our website, I expect The Blue Crew to take the weekly title. They are very strong on Instagram. If they do what they do, we will have a new champ in San Diego as far as Football Student Sections!

8. St. Augustine Saints Pit of San Diego (2019 Rank: 19th)

I don’t play favorites, but if I did, I’d be a bit Saints Pit fan in San Diego! Great group of kids and crazy in the stands. If they can work the social media game and show off that crazy, they also can take the top spot! Bonus points if they bring in that purple curtain.

9. San Juan Hills Stampede of San Juan Capistrano (2019 Rank: 21st)

Nobody does it better at a home game than the Stampede. They work a great social media at first. If they can be consistent on social media and go on the road with the Stallions, then expect the Stampede to take the number one spot.

10. Cathedral Catholic Los Locos of San Diego (2019 Rank: 11th)

Los Locos is a bit identical to the Saints Pit. They put on a show and are nuts! Some social media work and they will prove that they deserve to be higher than the three spot! The safe pyrotechnic show helps with their rank as well!

11. Great Oak Red Wave of Temecula (2019 Rank: 22nd)

The Red Wave is all word of mouth. I need to find a way to see this student section in person. If social media improves for this student section, then Vista Murrieta is in trouble. Make it happen Red Wave. You guys have to show off your amazing skills.

12. Chaminade Cage of West Hills (2019 Rank: 14th)

A consistent student section and they have always been at the top of the LA Student Section game. Hoping that their social media improves because it would be a shame for all of us to miss out on that school spirit.

13. Bishop Amat Dawgpound of La Puente (2019 Rank: 6th)

The Dawgpound is a crazy group. No one does the powder game better than this student section. I’m hoping the Dawgpound shows off their antics on social media this season.

14. Santa Margarita Eagles Nest of Rancho Santa Margarita (2019 Rank: N/A)

This student section is insane. Great costumes and if they can work a great social media game like they used to, they’ll prove it to you how great they are. Something tells me they are going to improve in every aspect of the student section game. If the Eagles Nest can travel, then they’ll crash the student section party.

15. Mission Hills Growl Crowd of San Marcos (2019 Rank: 8th)

The Growl Crowd is another favorite of mine! They can work social media and pack the stands. They know what to do! This is a fun student section to watch and a good group of kids to chat with!

16. El Modena Rowdy Rooters of Orange (2019 Rank: N/A)

I need to make amends to the Rowdy Rooters. This student section should have been ranked higher in the past. Great social media game and will travel. 2019 Roadshow was huge for the Rowdy Rooters and I feel this is just the beginning. Now that they have their on-campus stadium back, even better. This student section is going to get the respect they deserve this season.

17. Rancho Cucamonga Rooters (2019 Rank: 5th)

The Rooters will have to keep things going with their principal now gone. He gave the Rooters the ok to go wild. I hope nothing changes in that regard. Maybe more social media from them, but it wasn’t much of a problem.

18. Edison MESS of Huntington Beach (2019 Rank: 18th)

The founder of the MESS has been gone for awhile, but he set up a system and passed the torch. This crew will look to have a solid social media game to show everyone how MESSy they are at Edison. It’s a crazy student section.

19. Valencia Viking Nation (2019 Rank: 4th)

Viking Nation was wild in 2019. Great themes and celebrity cameos helped Viking Nation to the Los Angeles Football Student Section title in 2019. Hoping that social media game returns as well because their marketing skill got them the win.

20. Torrey Pines Chaos of San Diego (2019 Rank: 23rd)

I’ve seen the Chaos once on the road and for a small road show, they can bring the noise! I can only imagine how it goes at home! Show it off on social media Chaos!

21. Murrieta Mesa Beast (2019 Rank: 17th)

The Beast is a wild student section. One of the best in SoCal and it shocks me that they aren’t that known nationally. All around a great student section.

22. Oceanside Ship (2019 Rank: N/A)

I noticed the Ship late in the 2019 football season. Fantastic student section. Hopefully, we can more of them on social media, but for the little that I saw of them, I was impressed!

23. Alemany War Zone of Mission Hills (2019 Rank: N/A)

The War Zone kind of disappeared in 2019. Well, they did on social media. If they can show off their school spirit on Twitter or Instagram, then they’ll be rewarded!

24. Damien Pit of La Verne (2019 Rank: N/A)

Damien football looks promising, more so than usual and I expect the Pit to go nuts. Social media will need work. The bigger test is how will this student section turn out without the football guys in the stands. The baseball guys will have to step it up this fall.

25. Crespi Cabana of Encino (2019 Rank: N/A)

This student section is mainly word of mouth. You rarely see them on social media. I feel if they work the social media part of the student section game, they’ll battle for the top spot in LA!
