It feels like yesterday when I was wondering how I could cover student sections in a state I didn’t know much about when it came to the rowdy sections.

I may not even know much about it still, but I have gotten to know some great student sections this season. Some student sections I knew from their great football programs and some I got to know as time passed on thanks to their solid social media marketing.

That’s been the biggest thing in the student section game. Social media. Showing off your student section on a consistent basis is the key to getting the best recognition this season. It is the only way we can make the student section game competitive and to give it its own platform.

Before this idea came to me in 2015, the most these student sections got was kudos and a pat on the back. While Varsity Brands had a National contest, they only could take a handful of Student Sections. We wanted to include as many as possible.

Some of these student sections we didn’t see for a while after they won the Washington Student Section of the Week. Those student sections could have won multiple Student Section of the Week awards, but we wanted to share the wealth.

By the way, here are the Washington Student Section of the Week winners in Washington this football season;

(Click on the red ones for the link to read the Student Section of the Week article…trust me I didn’t make the red and black look fancy, it just came out like that.)

Sept. 3- Glacier Peak

Sept. 10- Camas

Sept. 17- Gig Harbor

Sept. 24- Lake Stevens Viking Castle

Oct. 1- Bothell Blue Train

Oct. 8- O’Dea

Oct. 15- Bellevue

Oct. 22- Kamiakin

Perhaps we ranked some student sections higher than they should be or we ranked them lower than they should be. Maybe we are missing a student section in our Top 40. We hope to discover more student sections in Washington and perhaps have a Student Section representative for this state to help us be as accurate as possible.

If you feel you can be of service and help us out in the great state of Washington, message Student Section Report on Instagram (@studentsectrep) or on Twitter (@StudentSectRep). Be part of this revolutionary game. Perhaps you can help us with the Volleyball Student Sections as well or the Basketball or Soccer Student Sections, as well as the school year continues.

And now, it is time to introduce to you, the 2021 Washington Football Student Section Top 40 Rankings. Enjoy!

2021 WASHINGTON FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION TOP 40 RANKINGS

  1. Bothell Blue Train
The Blue Train cheers on their Cougars.

The Blue Train chugged along the entire season. It was a sea of blue all season. The props and loud noises were endless, especially at the home games. When you have one of the best football teams in the state, you’re going to go wild.

For their consistency and craziness, the Bothell Blue Train is your 2021 Washington Football Student Section of the Year!

“Bothell student section is the best because we always make it a good time during the games win or lose,” the Blue Train said in a statement. “We are all like one big family who supports each other, we have each other’s backs and we are just happy to be there with all the hype in the world! We show up and we show them how it’s done and we keep on truckin all the way. Build belong become Bothell! (They hate us cause they ain’t us)”

Well i’m not sure if their student section is called “Run.Kano” or not, but they have this savage vibe coming off of them. This student section does whatever they want to do. They are loud and take control of the game. This is a solid student section.

  1. Glacier Peak of Snohomish
Glacier Peak was the first-ever Washington Student Section of the Week champion this season.

This is a crazy group of kids with amazing school spirit. Wintertime is sweater weather, but I saw a lot of sleeveless shirts in the stands. That’s part commitment, part crazy! Well Done!

“We are so proud of our amazing student section.” Glacier Peak said in a statement. “Who continue to uphold our school values of being loud, being proud, and being positive. We are GP!”

  1. Chiawana Hawk Squad of Pasco

Hawk Squad was solid with a fantastic showing on social media. With a UCLA commit on your team, you can bet the Hawk Squad had plenty to cheer about.

“Hawk Squad came strong this season,” the Hawk Squad said. “We are gonna continue to grow as the winter season starts!”

  1. Lake Stevens Vikings Castle

The Vikings Castle rocked it at home and kept guard of their home with their rowdiness and loud noise. It’s no surprise that this team is undefeated.

  1. Bellevue

This crazy student section gets everyone involved, including their Principal. Everyone wants to get involved when your team is undefeated.

  1. Inglemoor of Kenmore

The Vikings were a loud and large student section. They can be savages when need be. The type of student section you don’t want to mess with.

“Win or lose, we show up and show out in black and gold,” The Inglemoor student section said in a statement. “We know how much our team appreciates the support. Our band goes crazy at the games and we are proud to be the Vikings!”

  1. Kennewick

Fantastic student section that stepped it up in key games like their rivalry matchup against Kamiakin. Great student section.

  1. O’Dea of Seattle

O’Dea packed the stands this season and was solid throughtout the whole year. Top ten football program and a top ten student section.

  1. Mount Si of Snoqualmie

Not as crazy as the student section during basketball season, but the football one is still pretty good.

  1. Cascade of Everett
Cascade royalty takes a moment to pose for a photo with their student section.

While the football was middle of the road record-wise, this student section was at top-notch the entire year!

  1. Gig Harbor
Gig Harbor gets ready to go to show their support for their football team.

From the looks of it, this is a small, but mighty student section. I could be wrong about the attendance, but I’m accurate on the school spirit.

  1. Eastlake of Sammamish

Undefeated means students came to see a fantastic team on the field.

  1. Marysville-Pilchuck

This student section was very informative on social media as far as what to wear and where to go to cheer on the Tomahawks.

  1. Camas

Camas popped in every now and then with some great showing in the stands. This student section delivered one of the Washington Student Sections of the Week.

  1. Mercer Island

Bellevue did say that Mercer Island was a great student section. Turns out, they were right!

  1. Richland
Richland fills up the stands before a game.

This student section always packed the stands in green and gold every week. Great student section.

  1. Sedro-Woolley
Sedro-Woolley prepares to get rowdy…y’all.

Not only could this student section pack the stands, but they have the photos to prove it. That is a good selling point when it comes to great school spirit.

  1. Northcreek

If it weren’t for Bothell mentioning them, we wouldn’t have noticed Northcreek. This is another great student section.

This student section was a finalist a few times this season for the Washington Student Section of the Week.
