2023 SOUTH DAKOTA FINAL TOP 20 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGSNovember 16, 2023
The time has come to start ranking 50 states that we covered this football season.

To say I’m overwhelmed with the work that comes along with this is an understatement.

We had 10 Student Section of the Week winners in South Dakota and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want it and marketing is key.

You will see top-notch Student Sections miss out at the top spot, but we kept saying it over and over and over again, in order to be considered number one, you have to win the Student Section of the Week title. Otherwise, what is the point of having that contest?!

I know Student Sections complain, but remember it’s thousands of Student Sections and only me. Social media is your friend if used correctly.

This is our second year covering Football Student Sections in South Dakota, so we hope we were accurate.

I feel like we haven’t gotten a solid grasp of South Dakota Student Sections yet, but we have noticed more Student Sections in this state, so we hope to be more accurate.

The South Dakota Football Student Section Champion will move on to Regionals in hopes to get the National Championship banner as voting will now get involved!

So, let’s see who made the list and who is the best in the Mount Rushmore State.

2023 SOUTH DAKOTA FINAL TOP 20 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
1. O’Gorman
O’Gorman came away with a last second effort in the stands to show everyone just how amazing their Student Section is. I’ll excuse Christmas in November since football ends before the end of November. O’Gorman can celebrate early as they’re the 2023 South Dakota Football Student Section of the Year!
1. Dakota Valley Pit Crew
The Pit Crew is always an amazing Student Section, not just in South Dakota, but in the nation. You can never get enough of Purple and Black.
1. Washington
Washington has a loud and colorful Student Section. They can handle any theme it seems and can bring a good number to the stands.
1. Harrisburg Jungle
This has always been a solid Student Section. This photo is amazing. The white out theme and the white powder. It’s tough to see just how deep this Student Section is with all that powder in the way.

I feel like we haven’t gotten a solid grasp of North Dakota Student Sections yet, but we have noticed more Student Sections in this state, so we hope to be more accurate.

The North Dakota Football Student Section Champion will move on to Regionals in hopes to get the National Championship banner as voting will now get involved!

So, let’s see who made the list and who is the best in the Peace Garden State.

2023 NORTH DAKOTA FINAL TOP 20 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
1. Red River
This Student Section really loves using the selfie stick, but you would too if you had a solid Student Section like Red River. It seemed like every week they had one selfie followed by amazing photos of the Student Section. Well marketed and from the looks of it, a fun Student Section. Red River heads to Regionals, but for now they are the 2023 North Dakota Football Student Section of the Year!
1. Bismarck
Bismarck impressed me and they were close when it came to the top spot. Doesn’t matter what sport it is, this Student Section will show up and go nuts!
1. Minot
Minot can pack the stands and are into the game based off the photos. Opposing teams will have a tough time when they sea of Maroon in the stands.
1. Central Cass
Central Cass got off to a great start and stayed the course as they battled with the best in the state when it came to school spirit.
1. Legacy
Legacy social media game was on point and they love to show off their Student Section when they are inside a gym or outside in a stadium!

To say I’m overwhelmed with the work that comes along with this is an understatement.

We had 8 Student Section of the Week winners in Wyoming and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

1. Natrona County Stampede
The Stampede is never scared to show off their Student Section and the Stampede loves to rock the stands! We’ll see how they do in Regionals and perhaps Nationals, but one thing is certain, the Natrona County Stampede is your 2023 Wyoming Football Student Section of the Year!
1. East
East social media was amazing and they showed off their amazing Student Section. Orange and black are my two favorite colors and they can rock it.
1. Star Valley
This is a wild and loud Student Section that loves showing off on social media.
1. Big Horn
Big Horn has a big Student Section. Loud one as well that has them with a Top 5 finish.
1. Cody
Year after year, Cody has one of the best football programs in the state. The team has definitely made it an attraction for the Student Section to show up.

We are slowly getting to know more and more of this state when it comes to Student Sections. We have found some solid ones this season and we hope to continue to see more fantastic Student Sections in this state in the future. We know we have this state attention after one of their Student Sections took the Basketball Student Section National title last year.

The Colorado Football Student Section Champion will move on to Regionals in hopes to get the National Championship banner as voting will now get involved!

2023 COLORADO FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
1. Cherry Creek
Cherry Creek had to work for this one in order to repeat, especially with two Student Sections that were going to battle with them for the top spot, but Cherry Creek stayed the course by going crazy and getting loud in the stands. Cherry Creek just went back-to-back, Colorado Football Student Section Champions. Up next, Regionals!
1. Regis Jesuit Red Sea
The Red Sea is full of savages. You don’t want to mess with the 2022-23 Nation Basketball Student Section Champions. One of the best in the state and the country.
1. Denver East Hype
This Student Section can contend and battle with the best of them. A lot of fire in the stands here, which is ironic since this is Halo Nation!
1. Palmer Ridge Rage
Based off the photos, this looks like a odd and fun bunch to be around with in the stands. The weirder the better. It’s definitely a rage in the stands at Palmer Ridge.

Hard to miss Fossil Ridge with those brought Neon colors they rocked this season. It is also hard to not hear them because they are a loud bunch!

2023 NEBRASKA FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
1. Millard West Crazies
The Crazies have built a solid reputation in Nebraska as one of the best in the state. The Crazies have busted out many amazing themes like the Neon Out, which looked amazing in the photos. The CATS flags seem to always show up in photos. Rinse and repeat, the Millard West Crazies are back-to-back Nebraska Football Student Section Champions. Now, let’s see how they do in Regionals and potentially Nationals.
1. Westside Red Shield
The Red Shield always battles for the top spot. Like Millard West, the Red Shield has been consistant at being on of the best. I like the Black Out, but more importantly, I like how the Red Shield went savage on the signs.
1. Kearney Rowdies
We discovered the Rowdies this season and they can contend with some of the best in the state and in the nation. The Tropical theme looked amazing. Made them feel more rowdy!
1. Creighton Prep Bird Cage
The Bird Cage is always up in the Top 5 of the Student Section Rankings. Amazing Student Section that can hang with the best of the best in the state. The USA theme looks insane from the photos.
1. Papillion-LaVista South Black Hole
The Black Hole might look small, but it is mighty Student Section that earned a Top 5 finish.

In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and two years ago, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states last fall.

This last winter, we went to all 50 states. No one has ever done that before…until now!

This is still a one-man operation for the most part.

I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December.

If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion.

We continue with the 2023 Football Student Section Season with a preview of Wyoming.

You’d think a state that doesn’t have many high schools in it wouldn’t have some solid Student Sections, but you’d be wrong. Some Student Sections have popped up this fall. We may have a battle for the top spot by the end of the fall.

Last season, Star Valley was named the top Student Section in Wyoming. They were solid last year, but we haven’t heard much from them this season. A high ranking for Star Valey for a sure thing, but the number one seed is in danger with other Student Sections popping up.

In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Wyoming, it’s East High. East High is showing up and showing off their amazing school spirit. East will battle for the top spot in the state.

We didn’t know much about this state, but we are noticing some great Student Sections and we may have a new state champ come November.

Last season, Maize Red Rage took the title as the best Student Section in Kansas. Red Rage has always stood out for us, but as we get to know more about the school spirit in this state, it might be tough for Red Rage to repeat.

In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Kansas, it’s the Olathe South Birdhouse. Hard to believe that the Birdhouse wasn’t ranked last season, but like we mentioned, we are learning more and more about the school spirit in this state and we know that the Birdhouse is a rocking Student Section in this state.

Can the Birdhouse be on top in the Sunflower State? Let’s find out.

There is a solid Student Section in here, in fact they have the potential to be the Nations best, but we never really get any interaction from them. Doesn’t help when there’s other top notch Student Sections in this state.

Last season, Millard West Crazies took the title as the best Student Section in Nebraska. One of the best Student Sections in the Nation. If we can get some interaction from them, then we will see a dynasty here in not just Nebraska, but the entire country!

In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Nebraska, it’s Roncalli Catholic Lions Den. We are starting to see more of the Lions Den this season compared to last season and we hope that this stays consistent as they battle for the top spot.

South Dakota is currently controlled by one Student Section, but we are expecting a change very soon. This may not be a one monster operation.

Last season, the Dakota Valley took the title as the best Student Section in South Dakota. This Student Section has a dynasty on their hands after being named the Football and Basketball Student Section Champions in South Dakota and they battled for the National Student Section title in both sports. This Student Section is a beast in not just the state, but the country.

In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for South Dakota, it’s O’Gorman. We rarely saw O’Gorman on social media, but we just saw them a couple times which leads me to believe that they may be one of the Student Sections to take down Dakota Valley.

In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and two years ago, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states last fall.

This last winter, we went to all 50 states. No one has ever done that before…until now!

This is still a one-man operation for the most part.

I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December.

If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion.

We continue with the 2023 Football Student Section Season with a preview of North Dakota.

We’ve covered North Dakota last season, but outside of three solid Student Sections, we didn’t get much from them. We hope to see and give them more exposure on here and on social media.

Last season, the Jamestown took the title as the best Student Section in North Dakota. There’s going to be more dawgs in this fight for number one, so it will take a lot more for them to repeat.

In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for North Dakota, it’s Legacy. One of the few Student Sections that we saw on social media from this state. We expect this group to battle for the top spot this fall.
