CIF State Finals Picks: (12/09/19)

MANNY’S CIF STATE FINALS PICKS

Last Week Record: 8-4

2019 Record: 223-95-2

The plan this year was to get fans involved and have them pick winners every week. Tough task and a goal for the 2020 season. I’m sure they would have done better than me. All i’m hoping is to avoid 100 losses. That would be my State Title. Hopefully another four loss week is in store. Let’s finish strong.

OPEN DIVISION

De La Salle of Concord (12-1) vs. No. 1 St. John Bosco of Bellflower (12-1) at Cerritos College of Norwalk, Saturday, 8pm

Manny’s Pick: St. John Bosco

After pulling off a huge comeback victory to take the CIF-SS Division I Title, QB DJ Uiagalelei will look to finish the job! Bosco takes the State Title!

DIVISION 1–AA

Central of Fresno (14-0) vs. No. 6 Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth (14-1) at Cerritos College of Norwalk, Friday, 8pm

Manny’s Pick: Sierra Canyon

The Trailblazers beat a shorthanded Helix of La Mesa last week after taking a CIF-SS Division II to a team that advanced by way of forfeit, so a victory here will prove the Trailblazers belong here. LB Drue Watts will keep the Central offense off the scoreboard. Sierra Canyon takes the State Title!

DIVISION 1–A

Serra of San Mateo (13-1) vs. No. 5 Corona del Mar (15-0) at Cerritos College of Norwalk, Saturday, 4pm

Manny’s Pick: Corona del Mar

No one seems to know how to stop the Sea Kings even if they have stars out with injuries. QB Ethan Garbers will lead Corona del Mar to the State Title and complete the perfect season!

DIVISION 2–AA

Clayton Valley of Concord (9-5) vs. No. 15 Aquinas of San Bernardino (13-2) at Cerritos College, Friday, 4pm

Manny’s Pick: Aquinas

Aquinas defense will look to stop another offense and with DT Sione Lolohea leading the way, the Falcons will take the State Title back to San Bernardino.

DIVISION 2–A

McClymonds of Oakland (11-0) vs. No. 14 Pacifica of Oxnard (14-1) at Cerritos College of Norwalk, Saturday, 12pm

Manny’s Pick: McClymonds

Pacifica is coming off an easy win, but run into a program that has been in this stage before. McClymonds takes the victory and the State Title.

DIVISION 3–AA

El Camino of Oceanside (9-6) at Cardinal Newman of Santa Rosa (13-1),  Saturday, 6pm

Manny’s Pick: Cardinal Newman

El Camino has been on a roll, but so has Cardinal Newman. LB Mitch Russell will end the Wildcats winning ways as Cardinal Newman takes State.

DIVISION 3–A

Bakersfield Christian (11-3) at Rancho Cotate of Rohnert Park (11-1), Saturday, 6 pm

Manny’s Pick: Rancho Cotate

RB Rasheed Rankin will lead Rancho Cotate to the State Title.

DIVISION 4–AA

Highland of Palmdale (12-3) at Ripon (13-1), Saturday, 6pm

Manny’s Pick: Ripon

QB Nico Ilardi will look to have one more big game for Ripon. If he can have that type of game, then Ripon will take the State Title.

DIVISION 4–A

La Jolla (10-4) at Escalon (13-1), Saturday, 6pm

Manny’s Pick: Escalon

Escalon has faced some tough teams and their defense is pretty lethal. DE Jacob Walden will lead the Escalon defense as they take the State Title.

DIVISION 5–AA

El Monte (14-0) at Del Norte of Crescent City (13-2), Saturday, 6pm

Manny’s Pick: El Monte

The Lions earned this victory to advance to State after taking a win by way of forfeit in the CIF-SS Division XII. The running game of RB Davon Booth and Abel Cueva will finish off the perfect season and send off El Monte as State Champs!

DIVISION 5–A

Reseda (11-3) at Milpitas (8-6), Saturday, 6pm

Manny’s Pick: Reseda

It is tough to figure out which team is better here. Both have equal schedules, but the Regents handled Esperanza of Anaheim easily last week, so I have to go with WR Dranel Rhodes and the Reseda offense. Reseda takes the State Title.

DIVISION 6–AA

South, Torrance (11-4) vs. St. Bernard’s, of Eureka (11-3) at Humboldt State University, Saturday, 6pm

Manny’s Pick: St. Bernard’s

I expect this to be a big passing frenzy of a game, but in the end St. Bernard’s passing game will be ready to go with WR Lane Thrap. St. Bernard’s takes the State Title.

DIVISION 6–A

Bishop Union (12-2) at Salesian of Richmond (11-3), Saturday, 12pm

Manny’s Pick: Salesian

Salesian schedule will prepare them for this matchup. The State Title stays in Richmond with a Salesian victory.

DIVISION 7–AA

Gardena (11-4) vs. Lincoln, San Francisco (11-1) at City College of San Francisco, Saturday, 12pm

Manny’s Pick: Gardena

Both teams are very equal here. Defense wins championships and in this case, LB Kwanta Pugh will lead Gardena to a State Title!
