Co-SoCal Student Section of the Week: Bishop Amat Dawgpound (01/16/2020)
No, this student section isn’t just a football student section.
While it is not as insane as the football student section, the Dawgpound can still bring it indoors and they do that on Friday when the Bishop Amat of La Puente hosted St. Paul of Santa Fe Springs.
The Dawgpound got in their groove, but they got into savage mode and more so at the end of the first half.
The best savage move came with less than 10 seconds left in the first half when Bishop Amat hit four quick points to take the lead at the half.

The Dawgpound resumed the savagery in the third quarter and rowed their way into the fourth quarter.
Despite the tough loss to the Swordsman, the Dawgpound showed their love for the Lancers and their teachers as it was Teacher Appreciation Night.

The Dawgpound went into the SoCal Final 4 and started voting.
The Dawgpound battled and hung on to a tie with the Capo Valley Cage as they took the Co-SoCal Student Section of the Week.
It seems sharing is caring at Bishop Amat as they shared a Student Section of the Week title in the fall with Chino Cowboy Country. Co-Champs is still champs and taking a title in the fall and the winter is a rarity!
We spoke with the Dawgpound on what it took to take their second weekly title this school year.
You guys are the Co-So Cal Student Section of the Week with the Capo Valley Cage, beating out the Damien Pit and Sage Creek Bob Squad. What did it take to stand out as one of the best in Southern California?
The Dawgpound: Honestly, it did not take much to stand out. We have arguably the best student body and everyone has a lot of school spirit so it makes our job extremely easy.
We were at the St. Paul-Bishop Amat game and it was a close one, but you’re creativity was amazing! Do you prepare for games or just show up and be crazy?
The Dawgpound: This game was our first time ever having a Dawgpound at a basketball game! We did not prepare and we just went for it! The student body really ran the Dawgpound on Friday but are are just going to keep getting more hype from here!

What is your most memorable game you have ever attended as a member of the student section?
The Dawgpound: The most memorable basketball game was two years ago when we defeated a team in the semi-finals with a buzzer beater and all the students stormed the court!
Favorite theme?
The Dawgpound: Our favorite theme is always a Blue Out because we bleed blue!
Favorite chant?
The Dawgpound: We need to learn new basketball chants, but we love the “I believe” chant!

What’s your least favorite chant that you hear from the other side of the stadium/gym?
The Dawgpound: Our student section is so loud we don’t even hear the other side! We are always focused on our team and the game!
Outside of you guys, is there one student section that you have seen or heard about where you think, “Man, that is a good student section?”
The Dawgpound: We love to see the Capo Valley Cage cheer their team on and they do a great job!
