Manny’s Week 10 Picks: (10/29/19)

MANNY’S GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week Record: 14-6

2019 Record: 149-53-1

After going 18-2 in Week 8, I dropped to 14-6 last week.

Well, let me make my amends.

Grace Brethren of Simi Valley and Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth were very evenly matched and the score showed it. I picked Grace Brethren, but it was the Trailblazers took the 13-7 victory. I took Sierra Canyon just a tad lightly. I won’t do that again.

The Pacific League title game and I have been impressed with Muir of Pasadena and thought this was their year, but Crescenta Valley of La Crescenta was the top dawg in their 28-14 victory.

I am impressed with Inglewood turn around season, but apparently not that impressed since I picked North Torrance to win and I was wrong with a 28-0 victory for Inglewood. That’s impressive.

While Marina of Huntington Beach is playing at their level of competition, I thought Segerstrom of Santa Ana was ready for games like these, but it sounds like Marina is seasoned from their Sunset League days with their 25-14 victory.

I may have picked Magnolia of Anaheim due to the fact that I was a fan of them after they lost their equipment, including their uniforms. The Sentinels have turned their season around, but it seems like Santa Ana Valley was too much in their 36-7 victory.

The only thing I really know about the Manzanita League is that Vincent Memorial of Calexico was a CIF State Finalists. They may have lost some of those stars from a couple seasons ago after losing to Holtville 23-16.

Hopefully I can improve in the regular season finale. Here goes nothing.

MANNY’S INLAND EMPIRE GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week IE Record: 5-0

Overall IE Record: 38-12

Rancho Cucamonga (6-3) at No. 18 Upland (5-4), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Upland

Once again, the Baseline League Championship game runs through these two teams. LB Justin Flowe will look to lead Upland to another Baseline League title!

Heritage of Menifee (7-2) at No. 20 Rancho Verde of Moreno Valley (8-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Rancho Verde

The Ivy League is down to these two teams as expected. The Patriots will try to find a way to stop RB Jordan Jefferson. It could be a tough task. Rancho Verde takes the Ivy League title!

Adelanto (7-2) at Silverado of Victorville (4-5), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Adelanto

This one is for the Desert Sky League title. Silverado has won four games in a row after starting the season 0-5, but they once again run into a legit program. WR Jakim Allah will end that streak and lead the Saints to victory.

Moreno Valley (8-1) at Vista del Lago of Moreno Valley (8-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Moreno Valley

The Mountain Valley League comes down to these two teams. The Vikings has faced a tougher schedule than Vista del Lago. RB Elijah Kelsey will lead Moreno Valley to victory.

Eisenhower of Rialto (8-1) at Jurupa Hills of Fontana (6-3), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Eisenhower

Jurupa Hills is looking to shake up things in the San Andreas League. They want the 3-way tie for first, but QB Ceasar Ayala will throw that option out the window. Eisenhower takes the league title!

MANNY’S LOS ANGELES GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week LA Record: 2-3

Overall LA Record: 33-18-1

No. 13 Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth (8-1) vs Paraclete of Lancaster (6-3) at Antelope Valley College of Lancaster, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Sierra Canyon

This Gold Coast League game is apparently for the league title although this is their first league game. Regardless, WR DJ Harvey should lead Sierra Canyon to a league victory.

No. 14 Grace Brethren of Simi Valley (8-1) vs Camarillo (9-0) at Moorpark College, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Grace Brethren

The last time I picked the Lancers to win was last week and they lost to Sierra Canyon. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me…I’m going with Julien Stokes as Grace Brethren takes the Camino League title.

Garfield of Los Angeles (7-2) vs Roosevelt of Los Angeles (7-2) at East Los Angeles College of Monterey Park, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Garfield

The Eastern League title runs through these two teams, but RB Peter Jason Garcia and the Bulldogs have been ready for this one. Garfield takes league.

Granada Hills (5-3) at Birmingham of Van Nuys (4-4), Friday, 7:15pm

Manny’s Pick: Birmingham

The West Valley League is up for grabs and Birmingham is looking to get the league title after dealing with the SoCal fires. DB Jeremiah Cox will lead the Patriots to the league title!

West Ranch of Valencia (8-1) at Valencia (6-3), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Valencia

I would have gone with West Ranch, but Hart of Newhall made me change my mind. Hart beat West Ranch, Hart lost to Valencia. That should settle it. QB Ryan Morrison leads the Vikings to the Foothill League title.

MANNY’S ORANGE COUNTY GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week OC Record: 3-2

Overall OC Record: 43-8

Santiago of Garden Grove (7-2) vs. Loara of Anaheim (6-3) at Glover Stadium of Anaheim, Thursday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Loara

Loara is looking to share the Garden Grove League title and if QB Alex Islas can match the Santiago passing game, we will have a tri-league champion. Saxons for the win.

Foothill of Santa Ana (9-0) at Brea Olinda (6-3), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Foothill

Foothill will not take Brea Olinda lightly and that is probably why RB Roman Pistone will return just in time for the North Hills League championship. Knights win!

Santa Ana (6-3) vs. Orange (8-1) at Chapman University of Orange, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Orange

This league is too easy for the Panthers, but they can beat themselves up, especially with the awful penalty bug. QB Daylen Pedroza will look to add on the score just in case. Orange takes the Orange Coast League title and celebrate with victory laps at the Old Towne Orange Plaza.

Katella of Anaheim (8-1) at Santa Ana Valley (8-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Katella

QB Hunter Johnson will look to avoid the Santa Ana Valley defense that had five interceptions last week. If he can dodge the Valley corners, Katella will another Orange League title!

St. Margaret’s of San Juan Capistrano (8-1) vs Capistrano Valley Christian of San Juan Capistrano (7-2) at San Clemente, Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: St. Margaret’s

The San Joaquin League title is runs through St. Margaret’s. The Eagles have to WR Will Kenner. Tough task which is why I’m going with St. Margaret’s in this one.

MANNY’S SAN DIEGO GAMES OF THE WEEK

Last Week SD Record: 4-1

Overall SD Record: 35-15

No. 6 Helix of La Mesa (8-1) at Steele Canyon of Spring Valley (9-0), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Helix

This one is for the Grossmont-Hills League title. Some feel Steele Canyon might be ranked to high as many have them at No. 5 in San Diego. This is their big test to prove everyone, but RB Elelyon Noa is too much to handle. Helix take the win!

Vista (7-2) at No. 17 Carlsbad (8-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Carlsbad

Both teams have already taken league titles and look for a final tune up before the playoffs. LB Kyle Vassau will help end the regular season on a high note for the Lancers. Carlsbad wins!

Brawley (7-2) at Central of El Centro (7-2), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Central

The Imperial Valley League title is on the line and both teams have been here before. Defense wins championships and LB Angel Nava-Esparza will lead Central to a league title.

Castle Park of Chula Vista (9-0) at Montgomery of San Diego (8-1), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: Montgomery

Castle Rock is looking to finish the regular season undefeated and to take the Metro-Pacific League, but RB Jaheem Williams might be too much for them. Montgomery takes league.

La Jolla Country Day (7-2) at Parker of San Diego (4-5), Friday, 7pm

Manny’s Pick: La Jolla Country Day

The Torreys can’t be stopped and if QB EJ Kreutzmann can keep throwing all over the air, La Jolla Country Day will handle Parker and take the Pacific League title.
