The latest news for the North East Region Student Section Report

  2024 NEW YORK FOOTBALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGSSeptember 15, 2024

  In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and in 2021, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states two years ago.

  We went to all 50 states in winter of 2023. No one has ever done that before…until now!

  This is still a one-man operation for the most part, but we have some help with some partners on Instagram like OC Student Sections, Stadium Geeks, Maryland Student Section Rater, NorCal Student Sections and many more.

  I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

  We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December. 

  If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

  Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion. 

  We continue with the 2024 Football Student Section Season with a preview of New York.

  This is one of the more difficult states when it comes to discovering Student Sections. We hope this is the year we find some solid Student Sections in this state. New York has a lot of potential.

  Last Football season, we had the Shaker Barnyard as the top Football Student Section in New York. The Barnyard has proven that not only are they a solid Student Section, but that they want the top spot and are willing to let us know about it. If they can keep showing off their school spirit on Instagram, we will see a repeat champion.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for New York, we have to go with Guilderland Red Sea. This is a Student Section that is can hang with the best of them and if they show off on Instagram and prove to us that they can hang with the best or perhaps be the best, they’ll finish where they want to be at.

  

  Will the Red Sea take the top spot in the state or will the Barnyard take another one in the Empire State? Let’s find out.

  2024 NEW YORK FOOTBALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGS

  1. Shaker Barnyard

  The Barnyard is looking to repeat and all signs point to a repeat. You just don’t see a lot of Student Sections in New York that show it off as much as them with such a good showing in the stands. Unless someone shows off a solid Student Section as much as the Barnyard, this will be a no competition type of fall. Barnyard will end up on top.

  For awhile, we had a hard time figuring out this state, but we have discovered some solid Student Sections. This fall is going to be very interesting as we see several Student Sections battle for the top spot.

  Last Football season, we had the Nashua North as the top Football Student Section in New Hampshire. It is going to be super tough to repeat with a couple of equally solid Student Sections behind them. They better prove on Instagram that they have what it take to repeat in 2024.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for New Hampshire, we have to go with Pinkerton Academy Astro Machine . The Astro Machine can hang with the very best in the state, but they have to show us that they are consistently the best by posting photos and videos of their Student Section on Instagram. If they can do that, they may take the top spot in the state by the end of fall.

  

  Will the Astro Machine take the top spot in the state or will Nashua North take another one in the Granite State? Let’s find out.

  It is going to be a challenge to repeat with some of the challengers looking to dethrone Nashua North, but if they show off their Student Section on Instagram every week, basically do what they did last year, we will see a repeat champion in 2024.

  The Northeastern State we have had a hard time figuring out and discovering Student Sections, but we’ve shockingly found some Student Sections in Massachusetts and we hope to find some more this fall.

  Last Football season, we had the Malden Catholic Pit as the top Football Student Section in Massachusetts. The Pit got by the top spot last season and they hope to repeat, but some Student Sections in this state are going to battle and dethrone the Pit. It can be done, so the Pit has to be ready this fall.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Massachusetts, we have to go with Durfee. This is a Student Section that is small, but I feel in time with some more promoting of their Student Section on social media, they can end at the top part of the rankings as one of the best in the state.

  

  Will Durfee take the top spot in the state or will the Pit take another one in the Old Colony State? Let’s find out.

  2024 MASSACHUSETTS FOOTBALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGS

  The Pit is looking to repeat as State Football Student Section Champions. They’re off to a good start and they’ll need to keep promoting their school spirit and showing us their Student Section on Instagram on a consistent basis.

  Last Football season, we had the Oxford Hills as the top Football Student Section in Maine. I would say they will most likely repeat as state champs, but there’s some contenders that will look to take them down the rankings. Game on.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Maine, we have to go with York Cat Pack. This is a Student Section that almost took the 2022-2023 National Basketball Student Section title in what would’ve been an upset special. York is something special and we hope we can get some reasons to put them at the top of the Maine rankings. To do that, they need to post their Student Section on Instagram on a consistent basis.

  

  Will the Cat Pack take the top spot in the state or will Oxford Hills take another one in the Pine Tree State? Let’s find out.

  Vermont is still tough to figure out, but we are slowly discovering Student Sections here. This state is starting to look like an interesting one to follow.

  Last Football season, we had the Essex Hornet Hype as the top Football Student Section in Vermont. The Hornet Hype snuck by for the top spot this past fall and they plan to do it again, but it will not be easy. We’ll see if the Hornets get shaken up or not.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Vermont, we have to go with the Colchester Laker Nation. Laker Nation showed off a solid Student Section last winter and we expect them to battle this fall.

  

  Will Laker Nation take the top spot in the state or will the Hornet Hype take another one in the Green Mountain State? Let’s find out.

  2023 NEW YORK FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGSDecember 16, 2023

  The time has come to start ranking 50 states that we covered this football season. 

  To say I’m overwhelmed with the work that comes along with this is an understatement.

  We had 10 Student Section of the Week winners in New York and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

  Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want it and marketing is key. 

  You will see top-notch Student Sections miss out at the top spot, but we kept saying it over and over and over again, in order to be considered number one, you have to win the Student Section of the Week title. Otherwise, what is the point of having that contest?!

  I know Student Sections complain, but remember it’s thousands of Student Sections and only me. Social media is your friend if used correctly.

  This is our second year covering Football Student Sections in New York.

  I feel like we haven’t gotten a solid grasp of New York Student Sections yet, but we have noticed more Student Sections in this state, so we hope to be more accurate.

  The New York Football Student Section Champion will move on to Regionals in hopes to get the National Championship banner as voting will now get involved!

  2023 NEW YORK FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Shaker Barnyard

  The Barnyard looks like a crazy and fun group to be around with every Friday Night. They can be a bit savage, but whatever it takes to be the 12th Man. The Barnyard social media was solid this season and much more than last year. We’ll see how they’ll fare in Regionals and Nationals, but for now, the Shaker Barnyard is your 2024 New York Football Student Section of the Year!

  

  2. Clarkstown Southside Rumble

  Southside Rumble has a fitting name. They look like a crazy and an intense Student Section. I’m sure it matches they intensity that comes from the football players. It is definitely a disadvantage for opposing teams!

  

  3. Baldwinsville

  Baldwinsville was regarded as one of the best this fall and you can tell why. They can pack the stands and their leaders are energetic. Solid Student Section!

  

  4. Guilderland Red Sea

  As you can see, things can get messy when you’re in the Red Sea. As you can also see, you will have a fun time in the Red Sea!

  We had 11 Student Section of the Week winners in New Jersey and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

  Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want it and marketing is key. 

  You will see top-notch Student Sections miss out at the top spot, but we kept saying it over and over and over again, in order to be considered number one, you have to win the Student Section of the Week title. Otherwise, what is the point of having that contest?!

  I know Student Sections complain, but remember it’s thousands of Student Sections and only me. Social media is your friend if used correctly.

  This is our second year covering Football Student Sections in New Jersey.

  I feel like we haven’t gotten a solid grasp of New Jersey Student Sections yet, but we have noticed more Student Sections in this state, so we hope to be more accurate.

  The New Jersey Football Student Section Champion will move on to Regionals in hopes to get the National Championship banner as voting will now get involved!

  2023 NEW JERSEY FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. St. Thomas Aquinas Trojan Army

  The Trojan Army social media game was solid this season. They love to show off their school spirit more than others and you can’t blame them. We’ll see how they will do in Regionals and maybe Nationals, but for now they’re the 2023 New Jersey Football Student Section of the Year!

  

  2. St. Joseph’s Regional Knight Pit

  Based on the photos we see on Instagram, The Knights Pit is a crazy and rowdy Student Section.

  

  3. Bergen Catholic Crusaders Crazies

  When you have one of the well respected football teams in the Eastern US, you have no excuse to not show up. State Champs on the field has one of the best in the stands!

  

  4. Somerville Pioneer Pack

  The Pioneer Pack is surrounded by private schools in the Top 5. You have to be pretty darn good to be in that group. The Pack is one of the best!

  

  5. Don Bosco Prep

  I expected Don Bosco Prep here. I was hoping to move them up some spots, but Top 5 is super solid. In the end, they do have a quarterback leading the way in the NFL and one of my Fanasty Football teams, so there’s that!

  2023 VERMONT FINAL TOP 15 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Essex Hornet Hype

  Just like their football team, Hornet Hype battled in the stands and this wasn’t an easy choice to make. Hornet Hype made a strong last impression to prove they had the best Student Section in Vermont. We’ll see how they’ll do in Regionals and Nationals, but one thing is for sure, they’re the 2023 Vermont Football Student Section of the Year!

  

  2. Brattleboro Union

  Brattleboro Union looked like a contender for Vermont Football Student Section of the Year the entire year. They were solid all season and I’m we’ll see them at the top of this list every time!

  

  3. Rice Memorial Green Knights Castle

  The Green Knight Castle can pack the stands and handle business. They look like the group that loves to rattle opposing players.

  

  4. Colchester

  Colchester looks like a rowdy and crazy bunch. They look like they’re always ready to rock!

  

  5. Burlington

  The Superfans mean business. It is the reason why they got a Top 5 finish in Vermont this fall.

  1. Malden Catholic Pit

  The Pit was one of those Student Section that let us know that they were the best and while it was close with the Top 3, they were right! The Pit has to be insane to make a Mosh Pit and you can tell by their social media. We’ll see how they’ll fare in Regionals and Nationals, but for now, the Malden Catholic Pit is the 2023 Massachusetts Football Student Section of the Year!

  

  2. Natick Hawks Nest

  The Hawks Nest social media was pretty good and they let us know to not forget them. How can I forget the Hawks Nest? One of the best in the state this fall.

  

  3. Minnechaug Falcons Nest

  The Falcons Nest looks like that type of Student Section you just don’t want to mess with. They can pack the stands and go insane!

  

  4. Feehan Fanatics

  Fanatics love showing off their school spirit and can pack the stands.

  The Superfans look pretty insane. Keep the energy drinks away from this energetic Student Section.

  2023 CONNECTICUT FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Newtown Hawks Nest

  This was a close one. The Student Section at number two was right there. Both are large Student Sections that show off their school spirit, but in the end the Hawks Nest had the last push. The themes were amazing and so is this Student Section. We’ll see how they’ll fare in Regionals and Nationals, but for now the Newtown Hawks Nest is the 2023 Connecticut Football Student Section of the Year!

  

  2. Notre Dame Green Machine

  It is so tough to keep the Green Machine off of the top spot. This is a fantastic Student Section. Large and crazy group of kids that will be the front runner for the Winter Student Section Rankings!

  

  3. North Haven Tribe

  The Tribe has been huge this season in size and in volume. Clutch Student Section that seems to love Hawaii despite being on the opposite side of the country.

  

  4. Masuk Red Army

  The Red Army came in clutch in 2023 with amazing themes this football season, including a Neon Theme which was apparently done in the dark? Good thing those reflectors were there.

  

  5. East Haven Hive

  The Hive from what I saw on social media, is a colorful and loud Student Section. You don’t want to shake this Hive up!

  2023 RHODE ISLAND FINAL TOP 20 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Bishop Hendricken

  Bishop Hendricken never takes a day off. They are savages in the stands. What until you get a load of their Winter Student Section. That’s their bread and butter! They could take that Winter title, they could take Regionals and perhaps Nationals, but for now, Bishop Hendricken is the 2023 Rhode Island Football Student Section of the Year!

  

  2. East Providence Herd

  One of those few Student Section that let us know that a change needs to be made. Sometimes I have to explain the deadline unless they have a case and the Herd has a case. This is a worthy Student Section to be at the top of the Rankings and a Student Section that will be ranked in the National Top 250 at the end of the year.

  

  3. Cranston West Red Storm

  The Red Storm loves wearing red from what I see on Instagram. Amazing Student Section that deserves a Top 5 finish.

  

  4. Smithfield Sentinel Army

  The Sentinel Army knows it has to make up for the small Student Section, but they make up for it with loud energy and rowdiness.

  I felt like the small states in the Northeast would be tough to cover, but that top half of this years rankings proved that wrong. Amazing school spirit in this state and it was tough to pick the top Student Section.

  2023 NEW HAMPSHIRE FINAL TOP 20 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Nashua North

  Nashua North looks like a fun group and they can rock any theme very well. Camo or Neon or whatever it may be, but the Neon Theme is always a favorite to me. An amazing group that will battle for the Regional and National title, but for now they’re the 2023 New Hampshire Football Student Section of the Year!

  

  2. Trinity Red Nation

  Red Nation is one of my favorite Student Sections. A small, but insane Student Section that can rock the Red or go USA on us! Such a fun Student Section based on the photos and videos!

  

  3. Bishop Guertin Nest

  The Nest can pack the stands and shake up a stadium. The Nest rocked the Neon Theme very well. One of the best Student Section in the state and I don’t think that will change for sometime.

  

  4. Pinkerton Academy Astro Machine 

  Astro Machine had plenty to cheer for. While other Student Sections go wild with there themes, the Astro Machine made it classy. I like the suits and black attire.

  

  5. Bedford Dawg Section

  This has to be a solid Student Section. I mean they have one of the best teams in the state. Plenty of reason to go nuts!

  2023 MAINE FINAL TOP 20 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Oxford Hills

  Oxford Hills consistently showed off their school spirit more so than the rest on this list and when you can fill the stands like they can, can you blame them? A solid Student Section and that is why Oxford Hills is the 2023 Maine Football Student Section of the Year. On to the National Regional Round!

  

  2. Bonny Eagle

  Bonny Eagle can not only pack the stands, but they like to rattle their opponents cage. Social media savages, but they also show off their school spirit on Instagram.

  

  3. York Catpack

  The Catpack stayed at the top of the state this season and while it wasn’t the top spot like they had in the winter, they remain one of the best in the state. The Catpack isn’t a one season show.

  

  4. Marshwood Hawks Nation

  Marshwood popped in here last second, but I saw a rowdy group of kids that makes me believe this Student Section can hang with the best of them!

  

  5. Bangor

  Bangor showed up big at the beginning of the season and stayed in the pack. This Student Section has a good group of kids.

  

  6. Scarborough

  2023 RHODE ISLAND FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION TOP 20 PRESEASON RANKINGSOctober 5, 2023

  In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and two years ago, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states last fall.

  This last winter, we went to all 50 states. No one has ever done that before…until now!

  This is still a one-man operation for the most part.

  I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

  We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December. 

  If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

  Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion. 

  We continue with the 2023 Football Student Section Season with a preview of Rhode Island.

  This state is still a mystery to me when it comes to Student Sections, but we have noticed a couple of solid Student Sections in this state. We hope to see more from this state this fall.

  Last winter, the Bishop Hendricken Mangate took the title as the best Student Section in the state. As we discover more solid Student Sections in Vermont, we will see more strong Student Sections, but it will be tough to get past Bishop Hendricken.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Rhode Island, it’s South Kingstown Rowdy Rebels. We haven’t seen much from this state, but we feel the Rowdy Rebels might be the best contender for the top spot outside of Bishop Hendricken. Let the battle begin.

  Last winter, Lawrence took the title as the best Student Section in the state. More will be revealed if this Student Section can hold onto that as we get to know more and more of the Massachusetts Student Sections.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Massachusetts, it’s Newton North. While we are still learning about this state school spirit, we are aware of how much pride these kids have for their football team. It’s good enough for a battle for number one in the nation.

  From what we have seen on Instagram, the Pit can hang with the best of them in the country. We shall see what transpires by seasons end, but we believe the Malden Catholic Pit is the best in the state.

  2023 CONNECTICUT FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION TOP 40 PRESEASON RANKINGSOctober 5, 2023

  In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and two years ago, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states last fall.

  This last winter, we went to all 50 states. No one has ever done that before…until now!

  This is still a one-man operation for the most part.

  I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

  We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December. 

  If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

  Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion. 

  We continue with the 2023 Football Student Section Season with a preview of Connecticut.

  For a state that is new to our website, we are noticing more and more solid Student Section that it is looking like this state is going to be one of our better states when it comes to school spirit.

  Last winter, Notre Dame Green Machine took the title as the best Student Section in Connecticut. There’s a strong chance the Green Machine will be the best this football season. A solid and crazy Student Section that never takes a break.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Connecticut, it’s the Ellington Kingdom. This is a small Student Section, but they can hang with the best of them. They can battle for the top spot.

  Green Machine is an insane Student Section that goes over the top. While we may not know a whole lot about the Student Sections in this state and we will find some of the best in this state as we get into the football season, but we feel that this is the best of the best in Connecticut.

  Last winter, the Essex took the title as the best Student Section in the state. As we discover more solid Student Sections in Vermont, it may be tough for Essex to repeat at the end of the fall.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Vermont, it’s Hartford. We haven’t seen much from this state, but if you have the best football in the state, then you better show up and go crazy for your team. Hartford better show that off.

  Solid Student Section. I can’t see anyone really battling Brattleboro Union for the top Student Section ranking in Vermont, but it is anyone’s game and we have several weeks left to see if someone will show off a better Student Section.
