- 2024 WASHINGTON FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
The time has come to start ranking 50 states that we covered this football season.
To say I’m overwhelmed with the work that comes along with this is a huge huge understatement.
We had 10 Student Section of the Week winners in Washington and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.
Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want it and marketing is key.
You will see top-notch Student Sections miss out at the top spot, but we kept saying it over and over and over again, in order to be considered number one, you have to win the Student Section of the Week title. Otherwise, what is the point of having that contest?!
I know Student Sections complain but remember it’s thousands of Student Sections and only me. Social media is your friend if used correctly.
A Student Section that doesn’t post videos or photos of there Student Section on a consistent basis is like a tree falling with no one around. It doesn’t make any noise.
This is our fourth year covering Football Student Sections in Washington. We had Bothell Blue Train win it in 2021, Eastlake Red Sea in 2022 and Mount Si Red Sea in 2023.
This is a state is packed with insane Student Sections! You’ll see in this years rankings that it has changed. Perhaps we have some new social media powers in Washington. You market your Student Section and show it off on Instagram, you will get rewarded.
We will have 4 Student Sections in Washington that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.
So, let’s see who made the list and who is the best in the Evergreen State.
2024 WASHINGTON FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
RED = PLAYOFF BOUND
- Kamiakin (2023 Rank: 7)
Kamiakin didn’t post much in the past, but they doubled up on the marketing this year and it paid off as they rocked the stands this fall. One of bigger Student Sections in Washington. We’ll see if Run Kano can make some noise when they vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs, but for now, they’re the 2024 Washington Football Student Section of the Year!
- Inglemoor Viking Ship (2023 Rank: 5)
The Viking Ship has been consistent on Instagram, but I felt like I saw more of them this season. They have a a fantastic Student Section that deserved another Top 5 finish. We’ll see if the Viking Ship can make some noise when they vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs
- Glacier Peak (2023 Rank: 4)
Nobody can pack the house like Glacier Peak. They have been very consistent in showing off their Student Section over the years! We’ll see if Glacier Peak can make some noise when they vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs
- Eastlake Pack (2023 Rank: 2)
The Pack looks like it can be intense. It explains why they’re a Top 5 Student Section every year. We’ll see if the Pack can make some noise when they vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs
- Woodinville Falcons Nest (2023 Rank: NR)
The Falcons Nest had quite a fantastic year. They showed consistency when it came to showing off their Student Section on Instagram and it got them a Top 5 finish this year!

When we started covering Student Sections in 2015, it began with only Orange County, California. We expanded in 2017 to Southern California and it was the leaders of the 2020 Turlock Dogpound that asked us when we will extend out coverage, we went to six states and then 20 states, then 40 states and now all 50 states. We appreciate the Dogpound for the encouragement.

2024 NORTHERN CALIFORNIA FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
RED = PLAYOFF BOUND
- De La Salle 12th Man (2023 Rank: 13)
De La Salle is always known for its football. Everyone knows it, but it might be time to give the 12th Man some credit because they crushed it this fall! They packed the stands and were savages in the stands! Social media marketing was on point. They loved showing off their Student Section on Instagram. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start in a few days, but for now, they’re the 2024 Northern California Football Student Section Champions!
- Folsom Dog Pack (2023 Rank: 3)
The Dog Pack is always a Top 3 in NorCal. Always one of the best. They always packed the stands and are one of the louder Student Section in NorCal. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start in a few days.
- Del Oro Blackhole (2023 Rank: 4)
Blackhole comes up with another Top 5 finish. I don’t know what it is with the Blackhole and the powder toss, but it works! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start in a few days.
- Turlock Dogpound (2023 Rank: 29)
The Dogpound was quiet the last couple of year, but they’re back! Solid social media this fall and they showed off a solid Student Section! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start in a few days.
- Laguna Creek Cardinal Crew (2023 Rank: 2)
Cardinal Crew crashed the party last fall and now they’re just doing what they do as they get another Top 5 finish. They pack the stands and go nuts for their football team! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start in a few days.

- Lake Oswego Laker Army (2023 Rank: 26)
The Laker Army social media game went nuts this fall and it definitely caught my attention. They pack and I mean packed the stands and had themselves a party while also cheering on their team. If they get a chance to rub it in your face when your team makes a mistake, Laker Army will do it. What a year! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start in a few days, but one thing is certain, Lake Oswego Laker Army is your 2024 Oregon Football Student Section of the Year!
- West Linn (2023 Rank: 1)
I got the chance to see West Linn in person and I wasn’t disappointed. They are a fun one to watch and are very loud! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start in a few days.
- Ida B. Wells (2023 Rank: 6)
This Student Section is lit despite how odd it is for me to say that word, but it’s true. One of the larger Student Sections in the state, but they also bring the noise and love to rattle anyone in their way! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start in a few days.
- Sherwood (2023 Rank: 2)
Every time I ask someone about Student Sections in Oregon, Sherwood is mentioned and for good reason. They can bring the crowd and the hype! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start in a few days.
- Summit (2023 Rank: 7)
Summit has shown consistency since we started covering this state. They have let us know it in the past, they want to be considered the best and they have proved that this fall. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start in a few days.

This is a state that isn’t crazy deep with Student Sections, but you will see some fantastic Student Sections here. Idaho has the potential to be one of the best states for school spirit.

2024 IDAHO FINAL TOP 30 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
RED = PLAYOFF BOUND
- Rocky Mountain Grizz Nation (2023 Rank: 19)
Social Media is your friend if done right and Grizz Nation worked the marketing to a T! This may not be a super large Student Section, but they promoted their school spirit on a weekly basis. Thet wanted to show off the Student Section and that’s what this Student Section competition is all about. Who ever is in charge of their social media account, you did this! On top of that, this is a fantastic Student Section! We’ll see how far they will go when they vote in the National Student Section playoffs on Monday, but for now, they’re the 2024 Idaho Football Student Section of the Year!
- Meridan Tribe (2023 Rank: 14)
The Tribe got better with the social media promotion and it got them a Top 5 finish. The Tribe had an all-around improvement and now they’ll be ready to vote in the National Student Section playoffs on Monday!
- Borah Rowdies (2023 Rank: 5)
The Rowdies is such a fitting name for this Student Section. Like many Student Sections across the country, they went bananas. We’ll see how they fare in the National Student Section playoffs on Monday!
- Owyhee Storm (2023 Rank: 9)
The Storm has been one of the consistent Student Section that we’ve seen over the past three years. They can pack the stands and it looks like they enjoyed the red, white and blue theme as did some of the football players.
- Rigby Maroon Militia (2023 Rank: 4)
Maroon Militia can pack the stands at a high school game or a high school game being played at a college game. Wherever it is, Maroon Militia will be there.

This is a state that isn’t as deep as other states in the Student Section scene, but it definitely grew this fall. We hope it continues to grow in 2025.

2024 MONTANA FINAL TOP 20 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

- Hamilton (2023 Rank: 1)
When it comes to working social media, no one does it better in Montana than Hamilton. They love to promote their school spirit and for good reason. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs, but for now, they are the back-to-back Montana Football Student Section Champions!
- Gallatin (2023 Rank: 17)
Rain or shine, snow or sun, Gallatin Student Section shows up no matter what! We’ll see how they fare in the National Student Section playoffs.
- Hellgate (2023 Rank: NR)
This looks like a fun Student Section. They can pack the stands and go wild! Definitely a boost for their football team!
- Fergus (2023 Rank: 18)
That sign is amazing! It’s giving awesome, which is convenient because so is this Student Section.
- East Helena (2023 Rank: NR)
Probably one of the more fuller Student Section in the state. Definitely worthy of a Top 5 finish.

This is our third year covering Student Sections in Alaska, so we hope we were accurate.
We did see a small improvement in the Student Section scene this fall in Alaska and we hope to see more improvements in 2025.
The Alaska Football Student Section Champion will move on to Regionals Student Section Playoffs in hopes to get the National Student Section Playoffs and hopefully obtain the National Student Section Championship banner as voting will get involved in November!

2024 ALASKA FINAL TOP 15 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
- Service
It is very rare to find a Student Section showing off their school spirit in Alaska and I mean very rare, but Service has school spirit and they weren’t afraid to show it in September. They may have a low seed in the Northwest Regional Student Section playoffs, but they are in the playoffs as Service is your 2024 Alaska Football Student Section Champions!
- Palmer
Palmer goes to battle and so does its Student Section, but it is all love and friendship after the game with Wasilla.
- Wasilla
Despite losing to Palmer, I do appreciate the sportsmanship…and a nice beverage from Elwoods!
- Soldotna
One of the big dawgs in football in this state is Soldotna and this year the Student Section celebrated their coach 160th win this past month, the most in Alaska! Plus their social media is pretty active in reminders and themes for the Student Section.
- Dimond
One of the better football programs in the state definitely has to come with a solid Student Section.

- 2024 WASHINGTON FOOTBALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGS
In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and in 2021, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states two years ago.
We went to all 50 states in winter of 2023. No one has ever done that before…until now!
This is still a one-man operation for the most part, but we have some help with some partners on Instagram like OC Student Sections, Stadium Geeks, Maryland Student Section Rater, NorCal Student Sections and many more.
I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.
We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December.
If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.
Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion.

This state has several fantastic Student Sections. One of the nations best kept secrets when it comes to Student Sections. This state is deep in school spirit.
Last Football season, we had the Mount Si Red Sea as the top Football Student Section in Washington. The Red Sea made the best of Eastlake Red Sea not being as active on social media and if they return, then Mount Si better double up on their social media game and not only that, but other Student Sections will be coming after them for the number one spot.
In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Washington, we have to go with Skyline. They’re off to a solid start this fall and if they keep showing off their school spirit, they will finish with the best of them this fall.
Will Skyline take the top spot in the state or will the Red Sea take another one in the Evergreen State? Let’s find out.

The Red Sea has stated in the past that they are the best Student Section in Washington and when they post photos and videos of their Student Section, it definitely shows, but they have to be consistent in promoting and showing off their Student Section on Instagram in order to prove that this is an all-year powerhouse kind of Student Section. The Red Sea should prove they’re the Kings of Washington.

We went to all 50 states in winter of 2023. No one has ever done that before…until now!

I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.
We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December.

We continue with the 2024 Football Student Section Season with a preview of Oregon.
Oregon is deep in the Student Sections scene. So many fantastic Student Sections in this state and some of them that are in the Top 25 could battle for a state title in a different state. We can’t wait to see how this state fares this fall.
Last Football season, we had the West Linn as the top Football Student Section in Oregon. It will be tough for West Linn to repeat with so many Student Sections battling for the top spot. This isn’t one of those state where it’s a one-man show. This state is up for grabs.
In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Oregon, we have to go with Beaverton. We always felt Beaverton was one of those solid Student Sections, but they don’t show it off on social media. If they show off their Student Section on Instagram this fall, they could battle for a State Student Section title.
Will Beaverton take the top spot in the state or will West Linn take another one in the Sooner State? Let’s find out.

We are still trying to figure out Montana, but we did discover some great Student Sections last season and we expect to see some more big ones in Montana.
Last Football season, we had the Hamilton as the top Football Student Section in Montana. Hamilton is starting to look a dynasty of a Student Section in Montana. Can anyone share their Student Sections as much as Hamilton? I guess we’ll find out.
In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Montana, we have to go with the Sentinel Party Zone. The Party Zone showed off their school spirit quite well last basketball season and I can see them battling with Hamilton this fall for the top spot.

NorCal is the reason why we expanded outside of Southern California thanks to the Turlock Dogpound. There’s alot of great school spirit in upper California. There is also some schools that don’t get as much love as other NorCal Student Sections and our goal is to give them the love they deserve. We have definitely found some more NorCal schools, which makes this list tougher and tougher every year. So many schools with great school spirit up north!
What also helps is that we get the help from NorCal Student Sections. They do terrific work in highlighting the best of the best Student Section in NorCal. Give them a follow on Instagram (@NorCalStudentSections on Instagram).
Last Football season, we had Vista del Lago Blue Crew as the top Football Student Section in Northern California. The Blue Crew can pack the stands and showed us that they were ready to go on Instagram. Social media game was on point for the Blue Crew. It will be tough to repeat with several powerhouse Student Sections in this region, but the Blue Crew will be ready to battle!
In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Northern California, we have to go with the Edison Maroon Madhouse. We just discovered the Maroon Madhouse and had a conversation with them. The vibe I got was that they’re hungry and want to be one of the big dawgs in NorCal. We’ll have to see how they fare in 2024.

The Cardinal Crew made such a big impression on me and I feel this isn’t new to Cardinal Crew. This is one of the best Student Sections in NorCAL and I expect nothing less in 2024. The Cardinal Crew will battle for the top spot and battle for a National Title!

This state has some pretty good Student Sections. The rankings are top heavy, but we discovered a Student Section during basketball season that looked like one of the best in the nation, so we may have a powerhouse here come football season…or maybe not, I guess we’ll find out.
Last Football season, we had Sugar-Salem as the top Football Student Section in Idaho. This was a very close one and Sugar-Salem could’ve easily finished in 7th, but snuck by similiar Student Sections for the top spot. This could be another close battle this fall.
In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Idaho, we have to go with Lake City. There’s some Student Sections that will battle for the top spot and Lake City is one of them, but they don’t want to be overlooked. If they can consistently show off their school spirit, they will be on top of every big time Student Section in Idaho.
Can Lake City pull it off and be the new top dawg in the Gem State or will Sugar-Salem stay at the top? Let’s find out.

There is plenty of fantastic Student Sections in Utah and not one is a dynasty powerhouse that controls the state. The top spot can change every year and I expect the same thing this fall. So many Student Sections here that can topple over one another.
Last Football season, we had Davis Mob as the top Football Student Section in Utah. I was expecting the Mob to be the top Dawg during basketball season, but that could be because I’ve seen the basketball team play at the Desert Holiday Classic in the Coachella Valley. The photos I saw on social media of the Mob during football season.
In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Utah, it’s Syracuse Curse. The Curse finished at number 6 in the Football Rankings last season, which to the Curse is a rebuilding season. This is one of the best football Student Sections in Utah and I expect them to battle for the top spot all season. An improvement of consistent videos and photos of their Student Section this fall may put them at the top and far away from the rest of the Student Sections in Utah.

I’m buying in on the offseason hype the Ambush has put on Instagram! They want the top spot this fall and I can sense that they will show it off on social media. It takes a lot to take the top spot with a state that has 12 of the best Student Sections in the country. Orem is definitely going to Ambush its competition and take the top spot, but I’m sure the other Student Sections will prove me wrong on that!

This is the toughest state to figure out. Rarely do we see a photo of a Student Section in Alaska, but we do know they prepare for a Student Section with themes and promotions on Instagram. Maybe this is the year we see an Alaskan Student Section.
Last Football season, we had Soldotna as the top Football Student Section in Alaska. We didn’t see them in action during football season, but we did see them in action during basketball season and they promoted themes for football games more than anyone else. I’m sure it is tough to be outside in Alaska for a football game.
In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Alaska, it’s West Anchorage Nest. The Nest has been the best Basketball Student Section the last two seasons. Maybe they take control of the football side as well?
