  2024 MISSISSIPPI FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGSDecember 8, 2024

  The time has come to start ranking 50 states that we covered this football season. 

  To say I’m overwhelmed with the work that comes along with this is a huge huge understatement.

  We had 11 Student Section of the Week winners in Mississippi and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

  Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want it and marketing is key. 

  You will see top-notch Student Sections miss out at the top spot, but we kept saying it over and over and over again, in order to be considered number one, you have to win the Student Section of the Week title. Otherwise, what is the point of having that contest?!

  I know Student Sections complain but remember it’s thousands of Student Sections and only me. Social media is your friend if used correctly.

  A Student Section that doesn’t post videos or photos of there Student Section on a consistent basis is like a tree falling with no one around. It doesn’t make any noise.

  This is our third year covering Football Student Sections in Georgia. We had Oxford O-Zone win it in 2022 and Starkville Nest in 2023.

  Mississippi has been a huge challenge for us when it comes to discovering Student Sections and 2024 was no different. Some Student Sections say they’re the best, but they never prove it on social media, which means the verdict is, inconclusive.

  We will have 3 Student Sections in Mississippi that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.

  So, let’s see who made the list and who is the best in the Magnolia State.

  2024 MISSISSIPPI FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  RED = PLAYOFF BOUND

  1. Oxford O-Zone (2023 Rank: 8)

  After falling out of the Top 5, the Oxford O-Zone is back at the top! This Student Section can be a bit messy with all that powder, but it’s worth it! They have been consistent over the last couple of years and they did want us to know they’re the best in the state. We’re sold! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, they’re the 2024 Mississippi Football Student Section of the Year!

  2. Brookhaven Red Nation (2023 Rank: 19)

  When it comes to promoting your Student Section on Instagram or any other social media platform, this is by far the most consistent Student Section I have ever seen from Mississippi, hands down. They’re promotion of school spirit is why they’re at the top of the rankings this year. Other Student Sections will throw a fit, but I’ll just ask, Do you have the proof that Brookhaven had? Because they wanted it wayyy more than you! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.

  3. Ocean Springs Hound Pound (2023 Rank: 9)

  Hound Pound looked electric! They can pack the stands and cause a problem for any opponent that stands in their football teams way. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.

  4. Tupelo (2023 Rank: 3)

  Led by the Tupelo Boys, this Student Section can hang with the best of them and it is the reason why they once again return to the Top 5.

  You will see top-notch Student Sections miss out at the top spot, but we kept saying it over and over and over again, in order to be considered number one, you have to win the Student Section of the Week title. Otherwise, what is the point of having that contest?!

  I know Student Sections complain but remember it’s thousands of Student Sections and only me. Social media is your friend if used correctly.

  A Student Section that doesn’t post videos or photos of there Student Section on a consistent basis is like a tree falling with no one around. It doesn’t make any noise.

  This is our third year covering Football Student Sections in South Carolina. We had Dutch Fork win it in 2022 and Chapman Panther Patio in 2023.

  South Carolina is still a challenge when it comes to discovering Student Sections. We found some Student Section last year and we hope to continue the discovery in the winter.

  We will have 3 Student Sections in South Carolina that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.

  So, let’s see who made the list and who is the best in the Palmetto State.

  2024 SOUTH CAROLINA FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  RED = PLAYOFF BOUND

  1. Clover Crazies (2023 Rank: 4)

  The Crazies were not only crazy, but they packed the stands and got loud! They showed off their Student Section more than others this season and they get their reward! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, they’re the 2024 South Carolina Football Student Section of the Year!

  2. Chapin (2023 Rank: 35)

  One of the bigger Student Sections in the state, Chapin moves up big in the rankings and came close to taking the top spot. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.

  3. Byrnes (2023 Rank: 22)

  These kids are nuts, so it is fitting that their Instagram handle says it. One of the bigger Student Sections that we saw in South Carolina. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.

  Mauldin packed the stands in orange and black! Bright colors are noticeable as they break in the Top 5.

  Dawgpound always battles for the top spot in the Student Section Rankings in South Carolina! They always show up and go nuts in the stands!

  We discovered some more solid Student Sections in Georgia this year, but mother nature paused some things. Nevertheless, we have a group of solid Student Sections in this state. In fact, this is quietly one of the deeper states when it comes to Student Sections.

  We will have 4 Student Sections in Georgia that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.

  When we extended our Student Sections covering from only Southern California to 6 Western US states in 2020, the leaders of Catholic Bear Nation asked us if we would ever expand to the South. It gave us hope that we can do such a thing. Fast forward and now were in our third year coving the entire US and it is thanks to kids like the ones at Catholic High!

  We do want to give a shoutout to @318_sports_and_stuff on Instagram who did a great job recognizing some of the very best Student Sections in Louisiana!

  We will have 4 Student Sections in Louisiana that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.

  2024 LOUISIANA FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  RED = PLAYOFF BOUND

  1. Catholic Bear Naish (2023 Rank: 4)

  Bear Naish is back at it on top! One of the best Student Sections in the state and one of my favorite! I had the pleasure to fly to Baton Rouge to checkout this Student Section and they were electric! This seems like business as usual for Bear Naish! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, they’re the 2024 Louisiana Football Student Section of the Year!

  

  2. Byrd Hive (2023 Rank: 39)

  The Hive was electric! They showed up and showed out every week! Considered one of the best by local media, the Hive crushed it in 2024! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.

  We had 11 Student Section of the Week winners in Alabama and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

  A lot of fantastic Student Sections in this state. This year was a tough one with mother nature in the way, but we still saw some Student Sections. They talked the talk and walked the walk.

  We will have 4 Student Sections in Alabama that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.

  2024 ALABAMA FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Hoover Boneyard (2023 Rank: 2)

  When we posted out mid-season Student Section Report, we didn’t give the Boneyard much praise and they let us know. We simply told them that they haven’t promoted their Student Section videos or photos. They took responsibility and began showing off their school spirit. It paid off because they sold me on how fantastic their Student Section was this season! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, they’re the 2024 Alabama Football Student Section of the Year!

  

  2. Auburn Unit (2023 Rank: 1)

  It is a tough task to attempt to go for a threepeat, but nevertheless, the Unit packed the stands and went nuts per usual. Auburn has been so consistent with showing off their Student Section on Instagram. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.

  3. Hewitt-Trussville Dogpound (2023 Rank: 4)

  The War Zone is a crazy group of kids that goes all out. Seems to be a tradition when you’re in the War Zone. Also helps when you have one of the best football programs in the state. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.

  This is one of the biggest Student Sections in Florida. From start to finish, this Student Section showed off how jammed packed the stands were. The themes were fantastic and they looked like they had a party in the stands! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, they’re the 2024 Florida Football Student Section of the Year!

  Baylor has been near the top of the Student Sections the last two years, but this time, it’s their turn to be the top dawg! This has always been a crazy Student Section that loves to rock red and rock the stands, and sometimes the field! Considered one of the more respected Student Sections in the nation, Baylor will look to battle by voting in the Student Section playoffs, but they can finally say it, Baylor is the 2024 Tennessee Football Student Section of the Year!

  2. Nolansville (2023 Rank: 4)

  Nolansville never took a day off this season. What an insane Student Section. It seemed like almost every week, this Student Section showed up ready to rock!   The Herd wanted to be considered one of the best in the state and they let us know about it. We saw the Herd showing off their Student Section on Instagram almost every week.   The Nest came in with a huge improvement.   In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and in 2021, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states two years ago.

  We went to all 50 states in winter of 2023. No one has ever done that before…until now!

  This is still a one-man operation for the most part, but we have some help with some partners on Instagram like OC Student Sections, Stadium Geeks, Maryland Student Section Rater, NorCal Student Sections and many more.

  I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

  We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December. 

  If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

  Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion. 

  We continue with the 2024 Football Student Section Season with a preview of Louisiana.

  I’m loving Louisiana so far and that of course has to do with us visiting Louisiana mainly to check out a Student Section. Other Student Sections showed up and we feel this state looks like a solid one for school spirit.

  Last Football season, we had the Brother Martin as the top Football Student Section in Louisiana. It is going to be super tough to repeat as I expect a lot of noise coming from social media on who has a better Student Section in 2024.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Louisiana, we have to go with the Dunham. I saw this Student Section in person and they have potential. If they can show consistency on social media, they will battle for one of the top spots in Louisiana.

  

  Will Dunham take the top spot in the state or will Brother Martin take another one in the Bayou State? Let’s find out.

  We know of some great Student Sections in Mississippi, but we still have a hard time connecting with them. Not as much consistency in this state and we hope we can change that this fall. This state has some great school spirit.

  Last Football season, we had the Starkville Nest as the top Football Student Section in Mississippi. The Nest packed the stands last year and were rowdy as heck, but it will be tough to repeat. Some of these Student Sections will battle, including one Student Section that felt robbed. The Nest will be up to the challenge.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Mississippi, we have to go with the East Central Hornet Hype. This is a small Student Section, but if this state doesn’t show off thier school spirit this fall, expect the Hornet Hype to sneak into the top ten again. It’s a small, but fantastic group of kids in the stands.

  

  Will Hornet Hype take the top spot in the state or will the Nest repeat as the best in the Bayou State? Let’s find out.

  2024 SOUTH CAROLINA FOOTBALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGSAugust 16, 2024

  In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and in 2021, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states two years ago.

  We went to all 50 states in winter of 2023. No one has ever done that before…until now!

  This is still a one-man operation for the most part, but we have some help with some partners on Instagram like OC Student Sections, Stadium Geeks, Maryland Student Section Rater, NorCal Student Sections and many more.

  I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

  We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December. 

  If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

  Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion. 

  We continue with the 2024 Football Student Section Season with a preview of South Carolina.

  Some of these Student Sections are pretty up even. A lot of great Student Sections that made it tough to figure out who was the best one, but I feel that may change this fall.

  Last Football season, we had Chapman Panther Patio as the top Football Student Section in South Carolina. Panther Patio was consistent in posting their Student Section, much more than anyone else and that was enough to take the top spot. It will be tough to repeat, but Panther Patio will be ready to defend.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for South Carolina, we have to go with the Gaffney Tribe. The Tribe will occasionally post their Student Section on Instagram and hang around in the Top 10, but it might be time to make the move closer to the top. This might be the season. This is a great Student Section.

  

  Will the Rowdies be the new top Student Section in the Palmetto State or will Bishop Chatard go back-to-back? Let’s find out.

  When it comes to Student Sections, this is the best and deepest state in the country. The Student Sections are insane in Tennessee and they love to show off their school spirit. More will be revealed and that will make this state a super power.

  Last Football season, we had Houston Mustang Mob as the top Football Student Section in Tennessee. The Mustang Mob looked like they were on their way to a National Championship Title and they came close to the final round. For most of last year, the Mustang Mob was one of the best Student Sections in the Nation. I’m sure the Mustang Mob goal is to finish the job, but it will be tough to get past everyone in Tennessee.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Tennessee we have to go with Nolansville. I get the sense this Student Section is going to give me that Houston Mustang Mob vibe where they will make a splash on social media and show off their school spirit week after week as they go and take the top spot. Like Mustang Mob, it will be tough to take the top spot in Tennessee.

  Baylor has battled for the top spot for years now and this might be the year they take number one. It won’t be easy, this state is deep in school spirit and so many Student Section will battle, but Baylor has been near the top for a few seasons now. If they can consistently show off their school spirit on Instagram, they’ll take the top spot!

  Alabama takes its football seriously and you can always bet that the Student Sections are no joke here. They know that the 12th Man is so important. There’s a solid list of Student Section here in Alabama!

  Last Football season, we had Auburn Unit as the top Football Student Section in Alabama. The Unit went back-to-back last season and are looking for a threepeat, but you better believe other Student Sections will battle for the top spot and take down Auburn. We have noticed more Student Sections and it will be tough for The Unit to go for number three, but they’ll be ready for the challenge.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Alabama we have to go with Huntsville. This is one of those Student Sections that we end up discovering a couple years after going coast to coast and not only do they definitely have a Student Section that will hang with the herd, this might be one of those Student Sections that will prevent a Auburn Unit threepeat happening. Just ask them, they’ll tell you and they aren’t solely focused on Alabama, they want the South title and the National Title. This is a hungry Student Section!

  

  Will Huntsville make promise of the hype as the new big dawgs in the Yellowhammer State or will the Nest for back-to-back-to-back? Let’s find out.

  Florida has some dawgs when it comes to Student Sections. I’d say a solid 10 of these Student Sections can hang with the best of them and I can expect a few more Student Sections emerging as we discover each other this Fall!

  Last Football season, we had Apopka Nest as the top Football Student Section in Florida. It is going to take a lot to take over the Nest. They have an amazing Student Section and they know how to market themselves. The Nest battled for the Football Student Section National Championship last season and I can see them taking a step back, but I’m sure some Florida Student Sections will battle and have a big say this fall.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Florida we have to go with Wolfson Pack . The Pack discovered us and we discovered them last fall and they were impressive. I think the Pack will make some noise and move up in the rankings this fall.

  The Nest has a lot to do to defend its state title as the Florida Football Student Section Champions. The Nest have a social media game that is hungry to prove that are the best and I don’t think it will skip a beat this fall. It will be tough with seven really solid Student Sections that have a shot at the top spot, but the Nest will be ready to make a say for number one.

  This is one of the deeper states when it comes to Student Sections. A good 15 solid Student Sections that can battle with the very best of them in the country. This state has fantastic school spirit.

  Last Football season, we had Buford Wolf Gang as the top Football Student Section in Georgia. This might have the makings of a dynasty when it comes to Football Student Sections in Georgia, but I expect someone to make a big run and dethrone the defending champs.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Georgia…well its tough because there’s some Student Sections here that don’t get enough love. Peachtree Ridge Tribe, Rome and Riverwood come to mind, but I have to go with Benedictine. They wil have the tough task of making the big impression and being at the top over some of the very best Student Sections in the state and the nation. I’m sure the challenge will be accepted.

  1. Buford Wolf Gang

  The Wolf Gang may be the top preseason pick for the best Football Student Section in Georgia, but we found some more Student Section this past season and the offseason that make me wonder if we will have a new number by seasons end. As long as the Wolf Gang shows off their school spirit on Instagram, they should have a repeat on their hands.
