SoCal Student Section Week 3 Preview

We had some student sections that missed the cut for the SoCal Student Section of the week voting poll.

This Friday shook be a spooky night in the stands…ok there, that’s my one Friday the 13th pun, moving on.

In the Inland Empire, the Chaparral Fanatics of Temecula made a fantastic home debut and they came very close to get the Inland Empire of the week title, but we went with the Los Osos Grizzly Nation of Rancho Cucamonga to rep the IE.

We did something unique in Los Angeles, which seems to be the weakest of the four SoCal regions. We could have gone with the West Covina Bulldog Nation and maybe even the Comet Crazies of Sacred Heart of Los Angeles that rocked the stands for a girls volleyball game, yes, girls volleyball! In the end, we stayed in the volleyball lane and went with the Redondo Union Flock of Redondo Beach, which killed it as their Seahawks defeated Mater Dei of Santa Ana in a big Girls Volleyball match!

In Orange County, several OC student sections battled to rep the OC. El Modena Rowdy Rooters of Orange and Capistrano Valley Cage of Mission Viejo both battled for the top spot, but it was the Villa Park Black Pack that took it on the road to represent Orange County.

I almost went with the San Marcos Blue Crew. It was very close, but I went with the Mission Hills Growl Crowd at the last second and it seemed to workout as the Growl Crowd took the Week 2 SoCal Student Section of the week title.

Will we see a volleyball student section on here? Will Los Osos Grizzly Nation and Villa Park Black Pack make a return and take the SoCal weekly title? All this can be answered on Saturday afternoon in the next voting poll, but let’s see which student section might stand out.

INLAND EMPIRE

Redlands at Los Osos of Rancho Cucamonga (Grizzly Nation), Friday, 7pm

Grizzly Nation rocked it on the road and rocked the green to raise awareness for mental health. Mad props to the Grizzly Nation and I expect them to roar at home as they are the favorite to repeat as Inland Empire Student Section of the Week.

Redlands East Valley (Litterbox) at Heritage of Menifee (Patriot Pit), Friday, 7pm

I remember when the Patriot Pit worked a great social media, but now, I might just be talking about a ghost. I assume they’re still out there. They will be needed as the Patriots look to get back to .500 against a Redlands East Valley team that is still searching for their first win. You never know if the Litterbox shows up and makes a mess of your home. Be prepared!

Vista Murrieta (Bronco Bleacher Creatures) at Norco (Cougar Den), Friday, 7pm

Norco has a student section, they just don’t enjoy showing off to everyone on Twitter. They should take note from their student section opponent and you never know, Bronco Bleacher Creatures might make a visit and you have to be ready for Vista BBC. Hopefully the Cougar Den will go on Twitter and show off the goods. And everyone, Vista Murrieta has their first home game next week, everyone hide!

Glendora (Dogpound) vs. Los Altos of Hacienda Heights (Conqueror Crazies) at Citrus College of Glendora, Friday, 7pm

I know the Dogpund has a decent student section and we hope they will show up big as their Tartans look to stay undefeated. Plus, you never know if the Conqueror Crazies will make the road trip. I wouldn’t bet on it, but might as well be ready!

Grace Brethren of Simi Valley (Lancer Nation) at Oak Hills of Hesperia (Dogpound), Friday, 7pm

Oak Hills took one of the SoCal Studnet Section of the week title last season and it won’t be easy to take another one, so a good showing is needed, especially against the Lancers. Bring it Dogpound!

LOS ANGELES

Chino Hills (Dawgpound) at Bishop Amat of La Puente (Dawgpound), Friday, 7pm

With Bishop Amat at home, the Los Angeles region won’t be represented by a volleyball student section. The Dawgpound will go wild and that’s of course Bishop Amat. I doubt Chino Hills Dawgpound will make the drive, but Amat Dawgpound is a crazy bunch. They’re the favorites in LA this weekend.

Covina vs. West Covina (Bulldog Nation) at Covina District Field, Friday, 7:00pm

Bulldog Nation blew the door down in Week Zero and almost took the SoCal Student Section of the Week title. Perhaps they can make another strong showing against a rival student section. Bulldog Nation will get the win over a student section that isn’t familiar with Twitter yet. Hopefully, Bulldog Nation will give their Bulldogs a push for their first win.

Our Lady of Good Counsel of Olney, Maryland at St. John Bosco of Bellflower (The Tribe), Friday, 7pm

The Tribe has been working a very strong social media game and has showed off their school spirit! Against one of the best in the East Coast, I expect The Tribe to step it up and show off the student section. I’ve been very impressed with The Tribe this season.

Oaks Christian of Westlake Village (Lions Den) at Alemany of Mission Hills (Warzone), Friday, 7:30pm

While it is questionable if the Lions Den will make the drive to Mission Hills, the Warzone will be ready for Alemany in a big game for the Warriors. They’ll be ready and will also be prepared if their opponents show up, that being the Lions Den. It would be an awesome student section battle though. Hopefully, Warzone shows off on Twitter.

Crespi of Encino (Crespi Cabana) at Chaminade of West Hills (The Cage), Friday, 7pm

Chaminade needs a win before heading to the Mission League while Crespi is looking to stay undefeated. With Crespi being 3-0, the Cabana, which has always been known to go insane, will need to make to drive to West Hills to go wild for the Celts. The Cage is one of the best in Los Angeles and won’t disappoint. They are hit and miss on social media and hopefully starts showing off on Twitter. This is going to be a great game and it also has the potential of being a fun student section battle.

ORANGE COUNTY

Santa Margarita of Rancho Santa Margarita (Eagles Nest) vs. Mayfair of Lakewood (The Storm) at Trabuco Hills of Mission Viejo, Thursday, 7:00pm

The Eagles Nest knows how to rock it at every home game and they should be rocking on Thursday in a much needed win for the Eagles. The Eagles Nest hasn’t got the respect they have felt they deserved this season and this week should be the moment where they show off and get that respect. It might be a long drive for the Storm, but the Eagles Nest will be ready just in case. Plus, the Eagles Nest rocks Twitter very well.

Villa Park (Black Pack) at Mission Viejo (Diablo Inferno), Friday, 7pm

This is going to get WILD! The Black Pack travels anywhere and they know that the Diablo Inferno will rock it, so they’ll definitely be ready! Diablo Inferno has improved their social media game and it’s true what they say, the Diablo Inferno is a loud and crazy bunch. They spit hot fire, but the Black Pack rocks social media better than anyone and will be ready for their drive to Mission Viejo, again! Bring your ear muffs, it’s going to get loud.

San Juan Hills of San Juan Capistrano (The Stampede) vs. Edison of Huntington Beach (The MESS) at Huntington Beach (CA), Friday, 7pm

Normally after a stampede, you get a mess. If the Stampede shows up to Huntington Beach, this will indeed get messy with the Edison MESS, otherwise known as the Mighty Edison Student Section. With one of their leaders leading the offense, the MESS will go a little extra in rooting for one of their own. I’ve seen this student section on the hardwood and it’s an amazing student section. If they are as crazy as The Stampede, then it’s going to be a fun one, more so if the Stampede shows up!

El Dorado of Placentia (Hawks Nest) at Valencia of Placentia (Tigers Den), Friday, 7pm

I covered this game last year. The Bell Game is a big game in the city of Placentia. Bragging rights of course. Both student section packed the stands and this years game should be nothing different. Both teams are equal and so are the student sections. Whoever cheers the loudest will probably push their team to victory. Of course, whoever posts the most on Twitter will get the most recognition. Hopefully, both student sections show off their school spirit on Twitter.

El Toro of Lake Forest (Freak Show) at Trabuco Hills of Mission Viejo (Trabuco Stampede), Friday, 7pm

While the Freak Show has disappeared, the Trabuco Stampede have come out of the basketball stands and are rocking the football stands. This will be a great game of two equally talented teams. The Stampede made a great showing last week against Villa Park and their Black Pack and I expect nothing different this Friday. Hopefully, they don’t skip a beat on Twitter.

SAN DIEGO

Mission Hills of San Marcos (Growl Crowd) at Carlsbad (Loud Crowd), Friday, 7pm

This is going to get nuts! Hide your kids because this will be one of the best student section battles if the Growl Crowd makes the journey to Carlsbad. Loud Crowd throws a party in the student section. One of the best in the country and it doesn’t sound like they plan to quiet down. If the Loud Crowd works the social media game like they always have, then we could have back-to-back SoCal Student Section champs in San Diego after the Growl Crowd won it last week. Once you win the SoCal Student Section of the week title, you can’t win it again, but we do have a Top 25 San Diego and SoCal Football Student Section Rankings, so they still have to put a good showing this football season. I hope they show up just to see the madness in the stands.

Cathedral of San Diego (Los Locos) at Helix of La Mesa (Dawghouse), Friday, 7pm

Remember when the Dawghouse ruled the student section game in San Diego. Not the case anymore, but it is still a fantastic student section and more so if they can rock the social media game like they used to. The Dawghouse will be needed in full with one of the best teams in the state invading Helix. Los Locos might not make the drive, but the Dawghouse should be ready. When the Dawghouse brings their A game, no one can mess with them!

La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad (The Stampede) at El Camino of Oceanside (Growl Crowd), Friday, 7:15pm

Last week, a fan said I missed on the Growl Crowd of El Camino for SoCal Student Section of the week and they maybe I just never heard of them. Two problems, I have seen them before in 2017 and El Camino didn’t play last week…so 0 for 2! Ironically, I saw the Growl Crowd when they hosted La Costa Canyon in 2017 and guess who they play on Friday. It was a good crowd, hoping for much more and maybe this years squad is a little more nutty. I know the Stampede didn’t show up and maybe, like the Growl Crowd, it’s different in 2019. One thing is for sure, social media is going to play a huge factor in this. Show off the school spirit on Twitter, it will catch my eye and you will be rewarded. I know, pretty simple! Let’s see if both student sections can follow through!

Olympian of Chula Vista (Eagles Nest) at Grossmont of El Cajon, Friday, 7pm

Grossmont has a great student section and should rock the stands at home this Friday. Nothing out of the ordinary, but if they can do something that seems to be out of the ordinary with some student section is this, work the social media game! Hopefully, they do that.

Mater Dei of Chula Vista at University City of San Diego (Roman Legion), Friday, 7pm

Roman Legion will look to keep it 100 for their Centurions and cheer on their team as they look for another win. Maybe if they’re crazy enough in the stands, they can be on social media. Also, working social media has worked for them, landing them on ESPN. See what happens when you work a strong social media game? It works!
