Week 6 SoCal Student Section Preview

I’m just glad Week 5, otherwise known as the bye week for many teams is over.

Week 5 is normally the week teams take the week off, which means it gets tougher to find some quality student sections.

Don’t get me wrong, they’re were some good student sections, but they just never post a video or a photo of their student section and therefore will never get the recognition from me.

Also, posting videos of just the Homecoming festivities at halftime, isn’t showing off the student section. Just for future reference.

Hopefully we get some student sections showing off their school spirit and if they do, it won’t be so hidden. I’d like to get some sleep. Last week took hours for me to find a student section from all four SoCal Regions.

Really it took forever to find a student section from the Inland Empire and Los Angeles.

I knew I should have kept Vista Bronco Bleacher Creatures in my back pocket for moments like these.

Luckily, I found a student section in the Inland Empire and they won the Week 5 SoCal Student Section of the Week.

Let’s take a quick look at last week, very quick look.

WEEK 5 RECAP

So in the Los Angeles Region, we had a hard time looking for a student section, but I did notice the Golden Valley Den of Santa Clarita make some noise when their Grizzlies defeated Newbury Park 55-27.

I almost went with the Den, but like the Vista Murrieta Bronco Bleacher Creatures, I had the Sacred Heart Comet Crazies of Los Angeles in my back pocket.

The all-girls school has been going wild all year for their Comets and finally had the opportunity to go wild. Comet Crazies deserved this one last week.

In Orange County, it was easy to get a student section, it was just hard to pick just one.

Student sections like the Newport Harbor Tarpit of Newport Beach, Villa Park Black Pack or the St. Margaret’s Kitchen of San Juan Capistrano brought their A game, but we went with the Mission Viejo Diablo Inferno, which went with an all yellow to support fellow student Hudson as Mission Viejo defeated Upland 38-3.

The Diablo Inferno and the Diablos have been spitting hot fire all season and it’s going to turn up a notch during South Coast League play underway on Friday.

In San Diego, we noticed the Poway Titan Terrors showed up big in the battle of the Titans when Tesoro of Rancho Santa Margarita showed up to town.

Titan Terror knew their Titans needed a boost and they showed Poway their love and support despite the 44-3 lost to Tesoro.

Titan Terror will look to pick up their team as they battle in a tough Palomar League.

While Titan Terror went wild, we went with the San Marcos Blue Crew, which made a big impression on me as they watched the Knights shutout Mt. Carmel of San Diego 35-0.

Blue Crew made sure The Red Sea didn’t take control of their home.

Blue Crew is looking to make more noise as the season rolls by.

In the end, it was the Inland Empire, which only had one student section at battle and it was the Cathedral City Black Hole.

Yeah, I said Cathedral City.

Don’t get fooled, the desert has some great student sections.

The Black Hole is enjoying the return of Lions football after some tough few years.

The Lions took on Desert Hot Springs and got pumped up thanks to the hype in the stands as Cathedral City defeated DHS 33-19 to get their third win of the season.

The Black Hole did part one of their job. Part two was voting.

After close to 1300 votes, the Black Hole took the Week 5 SoCal Student Section of the week honors.

Now, many teams return to the field and the stands will be packed, so hopefully my picks won’t take forever this Friday night.

Let’s take a look at some potentially big student section battle across the Southland.

SOCAL STUDENT SECTION WEEK 6 PREVIEW

INLAND EMPIRE

Murrieta Mesa (MESA BEAST) at Vista Murrieta (Bronco Bleacher Creatures), Thursday, 7:00pm

I covered this game at Vista Murrieta two years ago for SoCal Sidelines and the press box was shaking the whole time.

The Bronco Bleacher Creatures turned it to a 15 and kept it that way until the last snap. It was insane!

I expect nothing more when I take the trip down the 15 freeway on Thursday in another student section. The same one I saw two years ago.

While the Vista BBC can’t won another SoCal Student Section of the Week title, they still have to battle for the top spot in the Inland Empire at the end of the season.

Mesa Beast on the other hand, will look to join Vista BBC as one of the weekly champs and this might be a big opportunity for them to take it.

I can’t wait to see this battle on Thursday!

Temecula Valley (The Gold Zone) at Great Oak (The Red Wave), Thursday, 7pm

I’m starting to notice the Red Wave. It took awhile, but I’m slowly noticing them.

The Red Wave will have to show off just a bit to get the top weekly honor in the IE.

The Wolfpack runs into Temecula Valley and after a much better showing in non-league, they plan to keep it going against the Golden Bears.

Meanwhile, the Gold Zone will look to invade Great Oak and make some noise. I’ve seen their school spirit on Twitter and they can rock the stands.

This should be a great game and a fantastic battle in the stands. Hopefully, both student sections show off on social media.

Shadow Hills of Indio (The Dungeon) at Palm Desert (Aztec Army), Friday, 7pm

I’m starting to notice the Aztec Army and they might be the best student section in the desert, but the Black Hole did just win the SoCal title, so the Aztec Army will look to take the title so they can prove they’re the best.

The Dungeon won the SoCal weekly title a couple of years ago, but have somewhat disappeared.

The Dungeon will look to not only invade Palm Desert, but jump into the SoCal window.

Not a real window, but you get the point.

Get your popcorn ready for this one. It’s going to be a fun event all around.

Elsinore of Wildomar (Tigers Den) at Heritage of Menifee (Patriot Pit), Friday, 7pm

This used to be a big league matchup, but with Heritage in the Ivy League, both teams will use up one of there non-league slots. The Tigers Den will have to step up as their Tigers run into Heritage.

We know the Patriot Pit will look to protect their house and cheer on the Patriots. The Pit is a fantastic student section and hopefully can show that off in social media.

Los Osos of Rancho Cucamonga (Grizzly Nation) at Etiwanda (Red Zone), Friday, 7pm

Grizzly Nation is looking to be one of SoCal best. We know they’re a fantastic student section, but is road warriors on the plate for them?

We’ll find out if they invade Etiwanda in a big Baseline League matchup. The Red Zone will be ready for Los Osos as they look to protect their home.

This game might be for a playoff spot, so this should be big all around.

LOS ANGELS

Bishop Amat of La Puente (Dawgpound) at Alemany of Mission Hills (Warzone), Friday, 7pm

While it might be tough for the Dawgpound to make the journey to Mission Hills, the Warzone will be ready to cheer on the Warriors and make sure they stay undefeated in a big Mission League matchup.

Hopefully, we can see the Warzone from afar. That’s where social media work comes into play.

Long Beach Poly at Wilson of Long Beach, Friday, 7pm

I kind of wish I knew the names of these student sections, but finally, Long Beach Poly has some serious competition.

With this game possibly being a close one, expect a lot of noise in Long Beach with both student sections going wild.

Will we have a new king of the Moore League or will the Jackrabbits keep control.

In order to be the man, you got to beat the man! WOO! This is going to be a great game.

Mayfair of Lakewood (The Storm) at St. Francis of La Canada (The Dungeon), Friday, 7pm

The Storm doesn’t travel often and I should know, I saw Mayfair play on a road game, but maybe La Canada is closer than Mission Viejo. I guess we shall see.

I’ve seen The Dungeon before and they can pack the stands pretty well. We shall see if they can still do that and if they do, share it with us!

Sierra Canyon of Chatsworth at Crespi of Encino (Crespi Cabana), Friday, 7pm

I’m giving Crespi Cabana another chance. I wonder if they know this website exist?

The Cabana will have to turn it up a notch when the Celts host powerhouse Sierra Canyon.

I know they bring their A game, but word of mouth doesn’t work. Showing off on social media does.

Show off the craziness Cabana!

Notre Dame of Sherman Oaks (The Castle) at Chaminade of West Hills (The Cage), Friday, 7pm

I wonder if The Castle still exist?

The Cage definitely does and they will look to protect their house. Should be an easy task, The Castle isn’t a traveling student section, LA traffic can be a pain.

The Cage can work social media, but you have to wonder how tough it is for the leaders of The Cage to keep that student section in top shape despite the tough non-league schedule from the Eagles. We shall see on Friday.

ORANGE COUNTY

Villa Park (Black Pack) vs. Foothill of Santa Ana (The Dungeon) at Tustin, Friday, 7pm

We have a big one in Orange County on Thursday.

The Black Pack continues the tour and invades Tustin to do battle with The Dungeon.

This will be going back and forth, especially with a game that might be pretty close.

Both student sections work a great social media game, but the Black Pack is second to none in the social media game.

Regardless, this is how you do a student section battle. I’ll be watching from the land of Twitter!

Laguna Hills (Hawks Nest) at Dana Hills of Dana Point (Pod Squad), Friday, 7pm

The Pod Squad took the week off to prepare for this one. Hopefully the time out pays off.

The Pod Squad improved a lot in the last two years and with a Dolphins squad at 6-0 fir the first time ever, they have become an attraction.

Pod Squad will be ready for a big Sea View League game and plan to make sure the Hawks Nest has no chance to take control of Dana Hills High.

We know Pod Squad will battle on social media and hopefully so can the Hawks Nest.

St. John Bosco of Bellflower (The Tribe) vs. Servite of Anaheim (The Asylum) at Orange Coast College of Costa Mesa, Friday, 7pm

The Servite Asylum is the home team. God helps us all.

No one can be more weird for a home game than the Servite Asylum.

The last home game, the Asylum invaded Area 51. I can’t wait to see what the Asylum has in store.

Meanwhile, you never know if The Tribe makes the drive to OCC, so The Asylum will be ready.

Also, i’ll know if The Tribe makes the trip because they’ll let me know. They’re looking for that LA title this year!

Woodbridge of Irvine (The Tribe) vs. Irvine (The Frontier) at University of Irvine, Friday, 7pm

The Frontier has to make the drive on Culver to take control of Woodbridge home turf.

It’s not that far of a drive. Trust me, I lived down the street from Irvine High. Not that far, so the Frontier should be ready and they will control the Twitter game!

Meanwhile, the Tribe tends to hide from social media. We noticed them while digging through Instagram.

The Tribe will have to rock it in the Pacific Coast League as this is anyone’s game. Also, don’t let the Frontier take over the game.

Both teams need a win, so expect these two student sections to go wild with a battle on the field.

Tesoro of Rancho Santa Margarita (Titan Army) at San Clemente (Loud Crowd), Friday, 7:30pm

This South County battle is going to be insane!

I’d say lit, but i’m 33 and it just doesn’t sound right anymore for me.

Anyway, the Titan Army can’t win this title anymore, but they do have to make an impression for the Orange County title.

We know the Titan Army will rock social media. Just be you Tesoro!

Meanwhile, the Loud Crowd is going to try and rebound from a setback after a few students made a bad decision that affected the Loud Crowd.

Loud Crowd deserves a second chance and this will be there chance.

This is a fantastic student section that has improved their social media game.

Social media should not be an issue here.

SAN DIEGO

Carlsbad (Loud Crowd) at Torrey Pines of San Diego (The Chaos), Friday, 7:15pm

I always wondered what kind of student section the Loud Crowd was on the road.

Maybe we’ll find out when the Lancers head to Torrey Pines.

We know The Chaos can rock it, but will they turn it up a notch as the Falcons look to get back on track.

It would be helpful with a win over an undefeated Lancer squad.

If the Chaos can show off on social media, maybe they dethrone the Loud Crowd from the top spot?

It looks like a lot is on the line for Torrey Pines on the field and in the stands.

San Marcos (Blue Crew) at La Costa Canyon of Carlsbad (The Stampede), Friday, 7pm

The Blue Crew has showed off their school spirit this season and are looking to keep the Carlsbad Loud Crowd away from a three-peat for the San Diego top spot.

Road warriors from the Blue Crew would be huge for that to happen and we know their social media game is improving a lot.

Know, if I could say the same for the Stampede.

The Stampede is a fantastic student section and I’ve seen them here and there on social media and came away impressed.

La Costa Canyon will look to get back to .500 with a win and the Stampede will pump them up while making sure no road warriors takes control of their home.

Rancho Bernardo of San Diego (The Stampede) at El Camino of Oceanside (The Jungle), Friday, 7:15pm

The Jungle looks to keep the Wildcats on fire after some big wins.

The Jungle has improved, but the social media will have to keep improving.

El Camino runs into an improved Rancho Bernardo squad and while it might be questionable if the Stampede makes the drive to Oceanside.

The Jungle will make sure that the Stampede doesn’t take control of their home.

Some social media work should put the Jungle on the map this weekend. Plus, the Wildcats need your help!

Tri-City Christian of Vista vs. Classical Academy of Escondido at Del Norte of San Diego, Friday, 7pm

There’s a new student section in San Diego and it’s Classical Academy.

The Caimans host Tri-City Christian in a Coastal League matchup.

I’m not sure of the name of this new small school student section powerhouse, but we have notice them on social media and we hope they keep it going.

Keep up the good work guys, work the social media game and if you can, give me your student section name…maybe The Classics?

Del Norte of San Diego (Hawks Nest) at Westview of San Diego (The Blackhole), Friday, 7pm

This is going to be a close game in the Palomar League.

While the top half of the league contains powerhouses, the bottom half will look to fight for a playoff spot.

The Blackhole will look to control their home and make sure Del Norte doesn’t take over on Friday.

Hopefully, they can show it off to us.

This is going to be a good one to watch on the field and in the stands.
