Week 7 SoCal Student Section Preview: (10/09/19)

We have past the halfway point and we are noticing some student section that were not on our radar.

We may have four new regional student section champions in December, but there’s still time for the defending student section champions to repeat.

Work the social media game and defend your title.

Before we checkout some of the top student section battles in Southern California this week, let’s take a look at last week student section recap.

WEEK 6 SOCAL STUDENT SECTION RECAP

In San Diego, the Cathedral Catholic Los Locos of San Diego went crazy, which is fitting since that their name.

Los Locos went wild and so did the Dons in their 50-14 victory over Point Loma of San Diego.

It was a student section battle in the Avocado League that caught my eye. The La Costa Canyon Stampede of Carlsbad battled against the San Marcos Blue Crew. The battle in the stands made the game with the Mavericks and the Knights more interesting than usual.

In the end the Blue Crew won the student section battle despite the Mavericks taking the 35-32 victory over San Marcos.

In Orange County, we had several student sections battling on Friday like the Servite Asylum of Anaheim, Newport Harbor Tarpit of Newport Harbor, Dana Hills Pod Squad of Dana Point and the Villa Park Black Pack.

But it was the JSerra Pride of San Juan Capistrano that packed the stands for Homecoming Night.

The Pride had a student section battle with the Santa Margarita Eagles Nest of Rancho Santa Margarita.

A sea of Crimson went crazy from start to finish in the Lions 35-3 victory over Santa Margarita.

JSerra ate some W’s on Friday.

In Los Angeles, we had two student sections from the same league battle for the top spot in LA last week.

The Hart Tribe of Newhall finally showed up in the social media world and rocked it in what we assume was a student section battle against Saugus and the Blue Crew.

The Tribe won the battle while the Indians won on the field with a 35-20 victory.

But, once again, the Valencia Vikings Nation rocked the stands and it stood out as the Vikings hosted Canyon of Canyon Country. Valencia defeated the Cowboys 31-7.

Vikings Nation was loud and once again, shared their school spirit.

But, in the end, it was once again the Inland Empire that had the better representative in SoCal.

The Coachella Valley is looking strong when it comes to student sections.

After Cathedral City Black Hole took last week title, we had two desert student sections look to battle and represent the Inland Empire, including the Shadow Hills Dungeon of Indio.

We also had Murrieta Mesa Beast go road warriors on a Thursday. I was at the game and the Beast impressed me despite the 35-21 loss to Vista Murrieta.

Plus, battling the Bronco Bleacher Creatures is pretty big.

Etiwanda Red Zone had themselves a battle as well with the Los Osos Grizzly Nation of Rancho Cucamonga.

The Red Zone did a fantastic job on their social media game. Also, the Eagles had a great game as well in there 33-29 victory over Los Osos.

In the end, it was the Palm Desert Aztec Army that rocked it in the stands with a student section battle against the Dungeon.

While the Aztecs defeated Shadow Hills 50-7, the Army went wild and crazy and we noticed it.

Finally, going to the polls and with 45% of the votes, the Aztec Army took the Week 6 SoCal Student Section of the week

Now, who will take the SoCal title for Week 7? Let’s find out.

WEEK 7 SOCAL STUDENT SECTION PREVIEW

INLAND EMPIRE

Upland (The Dawgpound) at Los Osos of Rancho Cucamonga (Grizzly Nation), Friday, 7pm

While this might be a tough game for the Grizzlies, Grizzly Nation will still show up. Grizzly Nation just keeps improving and I expect them to try and rattle the Highlanders. Grizzly Nation will look to make a splash and go for the SoCal Student Section of the Week title.

Murrieta Mesa (The Beast) at Great Oak of Temecula (Red Wave), Friday, 7pm

The Beast heads back for another road game, but they were road warriors last week when they had a student section battle with the Vista Murrieta Bronco Bleacher Creatures. The Beast will look to battle with the Red Wave, a student section that many say is great, but they never share it on social media. I feel like a broken record player at this point with the Red Wave. I’m just guessing social media is not allowed on campus? That or they don’t want to join the craze. They better show up as both teams will look to fight for a playoff spot.

Chino Hills (Dawgpound) at Damien of La Verne (The Pit), Friday, 7pm

Both these teams will be battling for a playoff spot, so expect these student sections to get crazy. The Dawgpound may not be at the game, but if they do, it wouldn’t hurt to work their social media game. It’s non existent. Meanwhile, The Pit kind of has a social media game during football. Clearly not as active as they are during basketball season. We are noticing them though. The Pit will be needed on Friday.

Murrieta Valley (Red Zone) at Temecula Valley (Gold Zone), Friday, 7pm

Both student sections show off their student section every now and then. It’s inconsistent, but it beats some of the student section nonexistent social media game. The Red Zone knows the Nighthawks need a victory to get back on track, so any edge is good for them. The Gold Zone knows that Murrieta Valley is very hungry for a win and will look to rattle them and help the Golden Bears to victory.

Vista Murrieta (Bronco Bleacher Creatures) at Chaparral of Temecula (The Green Fanatics)

Vista BBC is looking to keep making a strong case for Inland Empire Football Student Section of the year as well as the SoCal Champs. They know what the Pumas did last week and Chaparral will look to take the top spot in the Southwestern League. Vista BBC will be ready to hit the road and battle with The Green Fanatics. The Green Fanatics will have to slightly improve their social media game. Maybe follow what Vista BBC has been doing.

LOS ANGELES

Chaminade of West Hills (The Cage) at Bishop Amat of La Puente (The Dawgpound), Friday, 7pm

While the drive to La Puente might be too far, the Cage is up there with the Dawgpound. The Cage gets the edge on social media. The Dawgpound will have to show me that they still rock it as they look to defend their Los Angeles Football Student Section title.

Hart of Newhall (The Tribe) vs. Valencia (Vikings Nation) at College of Canyons of Santa Clarita, Friday, 7pm

This is going to be a crazy student section battle with the Foothill League title on the line. Both student section social media game are improving and look to not only battle for the SoCal Student Section of the Week, but a high ranking for the Los Angeles Football Student Section Rankings. The battle on the field will have a tough time with the student section battle. It’s going to be a fun night.

Charter Oak of Covina (Charger Nation) at West Covina (Bulldog Nation), Friday, 7pm

While West Covina is having a tough year, Bulldog Nation is showing a lot of love and support for them. Bulldog Nation is one of the more improved football student sections and their social media game is amazing. Charger Nation has their hands full on Friday.

Saugus (Blue Crew) vs. Golden Valley of Santa Clarita (The Den) at Canyon of Canyon Country, Friday, 7pm

These two student sections tend to not be mentioned as much as the Hart Tribe or the Valencia Vikings Nation. We noticed both student section and Saugus has shown that on Twitter in the past. Golden Valley has popped up on social media as well, but I’d give Saugus the edge here in this student section battle.

Alemany of Mission Hills (The Warzone) at Loyola of Los Angeles (Loyola Pride), Friday, 7pm

Loyola is on fire right now and you get the feeling that the Loyola Pride is starting to show up. All they need is to work the social media part of this student section game. With the Warzone probably not making the trip, the Pride has to make the best of this and give the Cubs the edge.

ORANGE COUNTY

Canyon of Anaheim (The Tribe) vs. Esperanza of Anaheim (Aztec Maniacs) at Yorba Linda, Thursday, 7pm

Both these student sections are amazing during basketball season, but they are starting to show up for their football squads, but more so with the Aztec Maniacs, which are called the 6th Man during basketball season. This is the best football season for Esperanza since 2012. While the Aztecs are spitting hot fire, Canyon looks to rebound in the Battle on Imperial Highway. That’s the name I came up with for this rivalry game. The Tribe will need to work their social media game the same way they do during basketball season. The Aztec Maniacs haven’t posted their student section craze on Twitter or Instagram, but if they do, they may get recognition. Both of these student section look to improve while showing their support for their teams.

Servite of Anaheim (The Asylum) vs. Mater Dei of Santa Ana (The Den) at Santa Ana Stadium, Friday, 7pm

After the Friars gave St. John Bosco of Bellflower a scare last week, the Asylum will look to keep their brothers on fire when they run into Mater Dei. This rivalry just got interesting again. The Asylum works a great social media game and will get that recognition they have been wanting all year. The Den has improved on their social media game, but this is the Asylum we’re talking about. While I got the Monarchs winning, I have the Asylum handling the student section battle.

Edison of Huntington Beach (The MESS) vs. Corona del Mar of Newport Beach (Kings Krew) at Newport Harbor of Newport Beach, Friday, 7pm

The Kings Krew will have to be ready for the MESS because they look like a student section that can travel. The leaders of the Kings Krew will bring their A game as always, but they will need some of their student section members to be a part of this. I saw this student section a few weeks ago and some student section members just weren’t feeling it. I don’t think they know how much that can hurt the Kings Krew. The leaders are doing great work and hopefully the student section members can step up as well.

St. John Bosco of Bellflower (The Tribe) at JSerra of San Juan Capistrano (JSerra Pride), Friday, 7pm

The Tribe probably won’t make the trip to South County, but maybe they should after the Braves for a scare last week. Plus, you can’t mess with the JSerra Pride and the Lions running game. If JSerra Pride rinses and repeats, they should battle for the SoCal Student Section of the Week again. It is going to take a lot to stop Bosco as they should be ready from here on out.

Dana Hills of Dana Point (Pod Squad) at Trabuco Hills of Mission Viejo (The Stampede), Friday, 7pm

The Pod Squad can travel and they might take over Trabuco Hills. Meanwhile, the Stampede has disappeared and falling in the rankings. If they can run the same social media game they rocked in the beginning of the season, then they should bounce back up.

SAN DIEGO

El Camino of Oceanside (The Jungle) at San Marcos (Blue Crew), Friday, 7pm

While the Jungle has improved, the Blue Crew has been killing it this year. It might look like we will have a new champ in San Diego this year after Carlsbad has own the San Diego title the last two years. The Blue Crew might go for the SoCal Student Section of the Week crown on their third try. Hopefully the Jungle can finally work a strong social media game like the Blue Crew.

Mt. Carmel of San Diego (Red Sea) at Poway (Titan Terrors), Friday, 7pm

I noticed the Titan Terrors in their last home game. They had a strong Instagram game and hopefully they do the same with the Red Sea possibly coming to town. If Poway needs any help, they always have some Terror to help them.

Crawford of San Diego at Scripps Ranch of San Diego (The Cage), Friday, 7pm

The Falcons are undefeated and it has built an attraction, which means The Cage is growing. The Cage will have to work a social media game to get attention, otherwise, it’s a middle of the road student section.

Clairemont vs. Coronado (Tiki Squad), Friday, 6:30pm

Coronado has an awesome student section name and maybe they have an awesome student section. If they can share their school spirit, maybe they’ll get recognition. Also, a Tiki room is bonus points.

Palo Verde Valley of Blythe vs. Brawley (Grizzly Nation), Friday, 7pm

All I’ve heard is word of mouth about Grizzly Nation. If they can post on social media and show off their student section, then we may consider them the best in Imperial County. Otherwise, we’ll just go with Central of El Centro.
