  2025 WYOMING FINAL TOP 20 FALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGSFebruary 6, 2026

  The time has come to start ranking 50 states that we covered this football season. 

  To say I’m overwhelmed with the work that comes along with this is a huge huge understatement.

  We had 11 Student Section of the Week winners in New Jersey and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

  Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want it and marketing is key. 

  You will see top-notch Student Sections miss out at the top spot, but we kept saying it over and over and over again, in order to be considered number one, you have to win the Student Section of the Week title. Otherwise, what is the point of having that contest?!

  I know Student Sections complain but remember it’s thousands of Student Sections and only me. Social media is your friend if used correctly.

  A Student Section that doesn’t post videos or photos of there Student Section on a consistent basis is like a tree falling with no one around. It doesn’t make any noise.

  This is our fourth year covering Student Sections in Wyoming. We had Star Valley winning it in 2022, Natrona County Stampede in 2023 and Thunder Basin in 2024.

  This state is a tough one to figure out and we hope it grows as we discover more Student Sections. What I do like about this group of Student Sections in Wyoming is that there isn’t that one dominating Student Sections that is a clear favorite. Everyone has a shot for number one. It leaves it a mystery as to who will be the top dawg.

  So, let’s see who made the list and who is the best in the Equality State.

  2025 WYOMING FINAL TOP 20 FALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Jackson Hole Blackhole (2024 Rank: 11)

  The Blackhole was consistent in showing off their Student Section and more so than the past years. They packed the stands and showed amazing support that was noticed by many, media included. They wanted the top spot and now they got it. The 2025 Wyoming Fall Student Section Champions, Jackson Hole Blackhole!

  This is our fourth year covering Student Sections in North Dakota. We had Jamestown winning it in 2022, Red River in 2023 and Legacy in 2024.

  This state is a tough one to figure out outside of the top dawgs in North Dakota. We found some good ones that broke in the Top 10 and we hope we find more in 2026.

  This is our fourth year covering Student Sections in South Dakota. We had Dakota Valley Pit Crew winning it in 2022, O’Gorman in 2023 and Harrisburg Jungle in 2024.

  For a state that has less than 60 football programs, they are pretty deep when it comes to Student Sections. So much so that we extend from a Top 20 to a Top 25. Maybe Top 30 in 2026? We shall see.

  So, let’s see who made the list and who is the best in The Mount Rushmore State.

  2025 SOUTH DAKOTA FINAL TOP 25 FALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Harrisburg Jungle (2024 Rank: 1)

  The Jungle picked up where they left off with a solid showing in the stands once again. They showed out and made a mess with what is looking like an annual white powder game. Thankfully we get to see all of this from Harrisburg official photographer Jon Klemme. I’m sure for him, it is tough to just ignore the Jungle. Way too electric and that is why the Harrisburg Jungle is your 2025 South Dakota Fall Student Section Champions! BACK-TO-BACK!!

  We’re slowly discovering some solid Student Sections here including a potential powerhouse, but even then, we are finding other big time Student Sections that will battle said Student Section. This state just got interesting when it comes to school spirit.

  We see a lot of great Student Sections here in Colorado, but we have had one Student Section take the top spot since day one. Will someone end the dynasty and take the one spot?

  We have a new champion in Colorado! Not easy to take down a powerhouse, but the Unit is a special Student Section.   We had several Student Section of the Week winners in Utah and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

  Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want it and marketing is key.

  This is a state that is super loaded with insane and crazy Student Sections and we discovered several more this fall. This might be one of our best states when it comes to Student Sections.

  1. Copper Hills Chaos (2024 Rank: 7)

  The Chaos had to battle to take the top spot in a state of crazy and loaded Student Sections. We’ve followed the Chaos for several years and they haven’t skipped a beat. This is a top-notch Student Section that as of this is being published, is still battling for the National Fall Student Section Title! Regardless how they end, the Copper Hills Chaos is your 2025 Utah Fall Student Section Champions!

  2025 WYOMING FALL TOP 20 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGSAugust 24, 2025

  In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and in 2021, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states two years ago.

  We went to all 50 states in winter of 2023 and now we add our friends from the North in Canada on top of dividing Texas into two regions, similar to what we did with California. No one has ever done that before…until now!

  This is still a one-man operation for the most part, but we have some help with some partners on Instagram like good friends at OC Student Sections and Stadium Geeks with help from Maryland Student Section Rater, NorCal Student Sections and many more.

  This year we plan to get several “barstool” pages that showcase Student Sections in their states. Some of those pages were very helpful last year as we get more accurate with our rankings.

  I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

  This past season, we several more Student Sections, including some big powerhouse ones that not only will be a top dawg in their state, but will be a big player in the National side!

  We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December. 

  If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

  Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion. 

  We continue with the 2025 Fall Student Section Season with a preview of Wyoming.

  You’d think a state that doesn’t have many high schools in it wouldn’t have some solid Student Sections, but you’d be wrong. We had even more Student Sections that we discovered this past year. This state can compete with some of the top states in the Student Section scene.

  Last Football season, we had the Thunder Basin as the top Football Student Section in Wyoming. Thunder Basin improved their Instagram game last year and it worked! They showed off their Student Section on social media and if they want to repeat, they’ll need to do that and much more as a couple of the top Student Section will look to battle for the top spot.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for Wyoming, it’s Riverton. Riverton moved up big last year and they have a Student Section that can move up a few more spots if they promote their Student Section on Instagram and show off their school spirit, they’ll move up and hopefully take the top spot in 2025.

  1. Natrona County Stampede (2024 Rank: 2)

  This was the first Student Section we discovered and they haven’t disappointed us. They’ve been one of the top dawgs in the state when it comes to promoting their Student Section on Instagram. They took half a step back last year, but I expect them to make a come back and take back the top spot in 2025.

  Montana was one of the most improved state when it came to Student Sections. This state is a lot deeper with solid Student Sections, but we still have two powerhouses battling for the top spot. The other big ones aren’t far off though.

  Last Football season, we had the Hamilton as the top Football Student Section in Montana. Hamilton has always been consistent in showing off their Student Section on Instagram. In fact, they do better than anyone in the state…well almost anyone else in the state. They’ll have to prove that they’re still the ones that control the Student Section scene in the Fall in Montana.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for Montana, it’s the East Helena. As I mentioned, there’s two powerhouse Student Sections in this state, but some of the other Student Sections are not far behind. If East Helena shows off their Student Section as much as Hamilton or Gallatin, then they could battle for the top spot. They could battle with the Student Section they have.

  We found Gallatin last season and to us, it was a pretty nice treasure. They promote themselves a lot more in the Winter and will have to show off their Student Section the same way they did in the Winter in order to finish on top of the Fall Rankings. This definitely looks like a fun Student Section and I’m sure they’re up to the challenge for the top spot once again!

  This was a state that was tough to figure out, but we found some Student Sections here and filling out the rankings here isn’t much of an issue, but we hope to discover more Student Sections in 2025!

  Last Football season, we had the Harrisburg Jungle as the top Football Student Section in South Dakota. Harrisburg has a photographer in Joe Klemme that makes sure he has every action shot, including the Jungle and you can’t blame them as this was a fun Student Section based off the photos. I can expect the same photos in 2025!

A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for South Dakota, it’s the Pierre TF Riggs. Probably one of the first Student Sections I discovered when we attempted to cover Student Sections in 2020 (something put a pause to that…), but we never really saw a photo or video of their Student Section, but we finally saw what a great Student Section they are and we hope we see even more on Instagram.

  This is a state that has some solid Student Sections that can be savages, but the last three years, our top Student Sections has been the same school. Will someone take them down or will it be a four-peat in 2025? I have a feeling the four-peat will be avoided, but I thought the same thing last year with the threepeat. We’ll find out in November.

  Last Football season, we had the Cherry Creek as the top Football Student Section in Colorado. Cherry Creek took the threepeat, but it was a toss up for the top spot. It will take a lot for Cherry Creek to go four in a row. This is a rowdy and large Student Section that will battle for another top spot in 2025.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for Colorado, it’s the Legend Coliseum Crazies. The Crazies made a big jump into the Top 5 last year and I don’t expect them to slow down in 2025. This is a Student Section that will be a serious contender for the top spot and can battle for a National Student Section Title! They’re a crazy bunch, hence the name!

  Utah doesn’t get enough credit when it comes to how deep this state is with super solid Student Sections in the Top 40. The Top 15 or 20 can hang with the best states out there. Crazy and solid Student Sections. One of the best states for school spirit.

  Last Football season, we had Syracuse Curse as the top Football Student Section in Utah. The Curse kept mentioning that they are the top dawgs in the Student Section scene in Utah and they proved it. It had to take a lot of proving in this loaded state and it will take a whole lot more if they want to repeat.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for Utah, it’s Lone Peak. Lone Peak was not happy with their ranking last year and they have had a solid case. For certain reasons, we are not on TikTok, but Lone Peak Student Section has a solid TikTok and if they can replicate that on Instagram, we can definitely see Lone Peak at the top in 2025 in Utah and possibly the nation!

  

  Will Lone Peak take the challenge in the deep Beehive State or will another powerhouse Student Section take it? Let’s find out.

  2025 UTAH FALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGS

  1. Lone Peak Uknighted (2024 Rank: 11)

  I gotta be honest, I think Lone Peak is going to take this pretty easy and that itself isn’t an easy thing to say. As mentioned, Utah is super-duper deep in Student Sections. Several powerhouses in this state, so it is a tough task to take the top spot, but Lone Peak is insane in the stands. The themes, and the energy looked unmatched, and I hope their social media game on Instagram doesn’t disappear nor this kind of energy and if it doesn’t, Lone Peak should aim higher because this has National Fall Student Section Championship written all over it!

  2025 NORTH DAKOTA FALL TOP 20 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGSAugust 17, 2025

  In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and in 2021, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states two years ago.

  We went to all 50 states in winter of 2023 and now we add our friends from the North in Canada on top of dividing Texas into two regions, similar to what we did with California. No one has ever done that before…until now!

  This is still a one-man operation for the most part, but we have some help with some partners on Instagram like good friends at OC Student Sections and Stadium Geeks with help from Maryland Student Section Rater, NorCal Student Sections and many more.

  This year we plan to get several “barstool” pages that showcase Student Sections in their states. Some of those pages were very helpful last year as we get more accurate with our rankings.

  I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

  This past season, we several more Student Sections, including some big powerhouse ones that not only will be a top dawg in their state, but will be a big player in the National side!

  We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December. 

  If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

  Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion. 

  We continue with the 2025 Fall Student Section Season with a preview of North Dakota.

  I’m sure other kids in other states will think, this is probably just a state with low social media numbers, but you would be wrong. North Dakota had some great Student Sections last year and I expect some of the same powerhouses to battle while we discover even more Student Sections in this state in 2025.

  Last Football season, we had the Legacy as the top Football Student Section in North Dakota. Legacy has been consistent when it comes to showing off their school spirit on Instagram and they have been a powerhouse in this state. I don’t expect that to change, but they will be challenged for the top spot. Legacy has the numbers and they will battle to repeat in 2025.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for North Dakota, it’s Century. They don’t post often, but when they do, it’s impressive. This Student Section can hang with the best of them in the state and I think if we see more of them on Instagram, they may battle for the top spot in the state.

  2025 NORTH DAKOTA FALL TOP 20 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGS

  1. Red River (2024 Rank: 4)

  A couple years ago, Red River rocked the selfie stick to perfection and it got them the top spot. Last year they had the drone for the hockey games (although I think they also had that a couple years ago) and it got them the top spot in the Winter Rankings. What will be under Red River sleeve this Student Section season. This is an entertaining Student Section and I hope they continue to show us how amazing they are in 2025!

  Safe to say that when it comes to the Winter portion of our rankings for North Dakota that Dakota Valley Pit Crew is a for sure thing for number 1!! This is a three-peat! The Pit Crew stands alone when it comes to promoting their Student Section on social media! They look like they have an amazing energy and now it seems they may also have a tradition to uphold every year. When we began covering North Dakota, these juniors only saw the Pit Crew at number one for the Winter and now they have one more year for the sweep!
