- 2024 WYOMING FINAL TOP 20 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
The time has come to start ranking 50 states that we covered this football season.
To say I’m overwhelmed with the work that comes along with this is a huge huge understatement.
We had 10 Student Section of the Week winners in Wyoming and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.
Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want it and marketing is key.
You will see top-notch Student Sections miss out at the top spot, but we kept saying it over and over and over again, in order to be considered number one, you have to win the Student Section of the Week title. Otherwise, what is the point of having that contest?!
I know Student Sections complain but remember it’s thousands of Student Sections and only me. Social media is your friend if used correctly.
A Student Section that doesn’t post videos or photos of there Student Section on a consistent basis is like a tree falling with no one around. It doesn’t make any noise.
This is our third year covering Football Student Sections in Wyoming. We had Star Valley winning it in 2022 and Natrona County Stampede in 2023.
This was a state where we struggled to find Student Sections, but we found quite a few this fall and we hope we continue that trend.
We will have 2 Student Sections in Wyoming that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.
So, let’s see who made the list and who is the best in the Equality State.
2024 WYOMING FINAL TOP 20 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
RED = PLAYOFF BOUND
- Thunder Basin (2023 Rank: 12)
Showing off your Student Section and your school spirit on Instagram will get you rewarded and whoever ran the Thunder Basin Student Section account, you did this! Thunder Basin has a fantastic Student Section, so it makes sense to so it off on social media. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, they’re the 2024 Wyoming Football Student Section of the Year!
- Natrona County Stampede (2023 Rank: 1)
The Stampede is one of the best Student Sections in Wyoming, year in and year out. Despite not posting the Student Section as much as the last couple of years, you just know they can pack the stands. This is one of the states best. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.
- Mountain View Stampede (2023 Rank: 13)
The Stampede got off to a great start this season when it came to showing off their Student Section. It got them a Top 3 finish. I’m surprised they were cold in the stands because from the looks of it, they spit some hot fire.
- Campbell County (2023 Rank: NR)
Campbell County packed the stands this fall and it impressed the heck out of me. Definitely Top 5 material!

Kelly Walsh loved showing off the Red, White and Blue and it got them a Top 5 Rankings in Wyoming.

This is a state where we found some more Student Sections this fall. It’s deeper than some of the smaller populated states.
We will have 3 Student Sections in South Dakota that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.
So, let’s see who made the list and who is the best in the Mount Rushmore State.
2024 SOUTH DAKOTA FINAL TOP 20 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
RED = PLAYOFF BOUND
- Harrisburg Jungle (2023 Rank: 4)
The Jungle has a photographer, Jon Klemme, that made sure to take photos of the Jungle and I can’t blame him. Plus, it is tough to ignore them. This is an electric Student Section. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, they’re the 2024 South Dakota Football Student Section of the Year!
- Washington (2023 Rank: 3)
Washington can pack the stands. One of the fuller ones out there and one of the more consistent ones out there as well. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.
- Dakota Valley Pit Crew (2023 Rank: 2)
The Pit Crew is one of the more consistent Student Sections in the state when it comes to social media marketing on Instagram. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.
- Brookings (2023 Rank: NR)
This is one of the larger Student Sections in the state, Brookings was a shoe in for a Top 5 finish in the state!

This is a very colorful Student Sections and from the looks of it, one of the funner ones too!

Millard West Crazies are looking for a threepeat, but it may be difficult with some solid Student Sections. Nebraska got a bit better in the Student Section scene.
What is helping us is @omahahssports and @djkdubomaha on Instagram. They love to cover Student Sections and have helped us make Nebraska one of the deeper Student Section states.
We will have 4 Student Sections in Nebraska that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.

2024 NEBRASKA FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS
RED = PLAYOFF BOUND
- Westside Redshield (2023 Rank: 2)
When I spoke with Omaha HS Sports about who they felt was the best Student Section in the state, they mentioned Westside and a couple other Student Sections. The Redshield knows it is not easy to be considered the best in the state with another Student Section being known by many outside of the state, but they did the work in the stands to earn this. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, they’re the 2024 Nebraska Football Student Section of the Year!
- Millard West Crazies (2023 Rank: 1)
I wish we can interact with the Crazies. They look like a solid Student Section and they have been for years. They go crazy in the stands. If they can show off more of their Student Section, they would be one of the well-known Student Sections year after year! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon!
- Skutt Catholic Skyhawk Screamers (2023 Rank: NR)
From unranked to a Top 5 Student Section ranking. When I tell people it will take a couple of years to perfect the rankings, this is what I mean. You will discover powerhouse Student Sections like these. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon!
- Papillon La Vista-South Blackhole (2023 Rank: 5)
The Blackhole didn’t promote on social media as much as they did in the past, but when we did see them, they were a dynamite Student Section. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon!

The Nest can pack the stands better than most of the Student Sections you’ll see in Nebraska. The Neon Theme has to be my favorite.

We discovered some Student Sections last fall. Not a whole lot of new ones this season, but Kansas has some great school spirit nevertheless.

- Blue Valley Northwest Dawgpound (2023 Rank: 14)
I spoke with a journalist from Blue Valley Northwest and made a comment about the Dawgpound being the Student Section to checkout in Kansas. I can see why she made that statement. One of the larger Student Sections, the Dawgpound loves showing off their school spirit on Instagram. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, they’re the 2024 Kansas Football Student Section of the Year!
- Olathe South Birdhouse (2023 Rank: 3)
The Birdhouse loves throwing the powder around at every game. They definitely look like they can be a problem for the opponent. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon!
- Gardner Edgerton (2023 Rank: 13)
It is not often when MaxPreps shows off a Student Section since their focus is on the play on the field, but sometimes you can’t just ignore a powerful Student Section. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon!
- Maize South Bullpen (2023 Rank: 5)

- Legacy (2023 Rank: 5)
Legacy had to battle with Bismarck and they took the top spot in a close one. They packed the stands and have the proof. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, they’re the 2024 North Dakota Football Student Section of the Year!
- Bismarck (2023 Rank: 2)
In the time we’ve covered this state, Bismarck has been one of the more consistent Student Sections. They love to show off their Student Section on social media. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.
- St. Mary’s Central (2023 Rank: NR)
St. Mary’s Central went from unranked to a Top 3 finish this fall. They packed the Student Section and showed off their school spirit here and there. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.
- Red River (2023 Rank: 1)
Red River showed up again and went crazy as ever…again. I do miss the selfie stick photos though.

- Cherry Creek (2023 Rank: 1)
We have ourselves a Student Section Dynasty in the state of Colorado. Cherry Creek is back on top. They always pack the stands and love to show off their Student Section on Instagram. This is one of the bigger Student Sections in the country. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, it’s a threepeat as Cherry Creek has gone back-to-back-to-back as Colorado Football Student Section Champions!
- Mountain Vista (2023 Rank: 20)
Mountain Vista can pack the stands to the brim. This Top 5 Student Section looks like they can rattle some opponents. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.
- Legend Coliseum Crazies (2023 Rank: 25)
Calling these kids Crazies is very fitting. They can pack the stands and are a wild bunch. I’m sure it’s a distraction for opposing teams. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.
- Columbine (2023 Rank: 9)
It is not often you see the Principal of your school get well involved with your Student Section, but I can see the attraction of this Student Section. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.
- Chaparral Red Blue Crew (2023 Rank: 8)
Red Blue Crew did a solid job this fall, but this is just the beginning. It is going to get a lot better in the winter.

In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and in 2021, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states two years ago.
We went to all 50 states in winter of 2023. No one has ever done that before…until now!
This is still a one-man operation for the most part, but we have some help with some partners on Instagram like OC Student Sections, Stadium Geeks, Maryland Student Section Rater, NorCal Student Sections and many more.
I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion.
We continue with the 2024 Football Student Section Season with a preview of Kansas.
For awhile, we had a hard time figuring out this state, but we have discovered some solid Student Sections. This fall is going to be very interesting as we see several Student Sections battle for the top spot.
Last Football season, we had the Kapaun Mt. Carmel Boneyard as the top Football Student Section in Kansas. The Boneyard were savages last year and they were not afraid to show off their Student Section. They ran away with the competition last year and it could be the same result in 2024.
In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Kansas, we have to go with Blue Valley Northwest Dawgpound. They’re off to a solid start this fall and if they keep showing off their school spirit, they will finish with the best of them this fall.
Will the Dawgpound take the top spot in the state or will the Boneyard take another one in the Sunflower State? Let’s find out.

The Boneyard took out the competition last fall. It was a one-man show and we are expecting the same thing this fall. We have already noticed some Student Sections come up in Kansas, so there’s a possible chance where the Boneyard can be dethroned. Boneyard has to protect their house and their title!

I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

You’d think a state that doesn’t have many high schools in it wouldn’t have some solid Student Sections, but you’d be wrong. Some Student Sections have popped up this fall. We may have a battle for the top spot by the end of the fall.
Last Football season, we had the Natrona County Stampede as the top Football Student Section in Wyoming. This is looking like a state dynasty. The Stampede is doing it better than anyone else here.
In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Wyoming, we have to go with the Campbell County. Not a lot of Student Sections in Wyoming are showing off their school spirit, but we have noticed Campbell County. They may make it a battle for number one.
Will Campbell County take the top spot in the state or will the Stampede take another one in the Equality State? Let’s find out.

Nebraska is stacked when it comes to Student Sections. Some of them can hang with the very best of them in the nation. It’s going to be a fun battle for the top spot this fall.
Last Football season, we had the Millard West Crazies as the top Football Student Section in Nebraska. One of the best Student Sections in the Nation. If we can get some interaction from them, then we will see a dynasty here in not just Nebraska, but the entire country!
In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Nebraska, we have to go with the Millard North. I saw how crazy this Student Section can get and they can be dangerous. If they can show off their school spirit, then we have another powerhouse Student Section in this state.

This is a state that is not only deep in school spirit, but a lot of them can be savages. I’m seeing that a lot in here and around this state. Can’t we all just get along? As long as you show your school spirit, I guess it’s all innocent fun.
Last Football season, we had the Cherry Creek as the top Football Student Section in Colorado. Cherry Creek went back-to-back, but it is going to be tough to go for the threepeat. Some Student Sections want this take the top spot, so Cherry Creek has a target on its back.
In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Colorado, we have to go with the Rock Canyon. I’m actually a big fan of this Student Section, but I see them go nuts in the winter instead of the fall. If they can go as crazy in the fall, then they will be a big contender.
Will Rock Canyon take the top spot in the state or will the Cherry Creek take another one in the Rocky Mountain State? Let’s find out.

South Dakota Student Section is a tough one to figure out, but we hope to discover more Student Sections in this state. We feel that this is a two Student Section race, but we hope to see more Student Sections to show more consistency on social media this fall.
Last Football season, we had O’Gorman as the top Football Student Section in South Dakota. O’Gorman will have to do a lot in order to repeat, but they are one of the favorites in 2024.
In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for South Dakota, we have to go with the Lincoln Crazies. They showed off their Student Section quite well in 2022 and more so before then, but they didn’t show anything last season. This is a fantastic Student Section and we hope they bounce back in 2024, perhaps even take the top spot.

North Dakota Student Section is slowly growing as far as Student Sections showing off their school spirit. We hope to discover some more Student Sections in this state. We hope to see some battles this fall.

They showed off their Student Section quite well in 2022, but they didn’t show anything last season.
