The latest news for the North East Region Student Section Report

  2025 CONNECTICUT FALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGSSeptember 3, 2025

  In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and in 2021, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states two years ago.

  We went to all 50 states in winter of 2023 and now we add our friends from the North in Canada on top of dividing Texas into two regions, similar to what we did with California. No one has ever done that before…until now!

  This is still a one-man operation for the most part, but we have some help with some partners on Instagram like good friends at OC Student Sections and Stadium Geeks with help from Maryland Student Section Rater, NorCal Student Sections and many more.

  This year we plan to get several “barstool” pages that showcase Student Sections in their states. Some of those pages were very helpful last year as we get more accurate with our rankings.

  I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

  This past season, we several more Student Sections, including some big powerhouse ones that not only will be a top dawg in their state, but will be a big player in the National side!

  We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December. 

  If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

  Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion. 

  We continue with the 2025 Fall Student Section Season with a preview of Connecticut.

  This became one of the solid Student Section state in the US of A. A lot of fantastic Student Sections here. This is a deep list and with a wedding I’m attending in New York, I could make the drive to Connecticut in October to checkout one of those fantastic Student Section. We can’t wait.

  Last Football season, we had the Daniel Hand Tiger Den as the top Football Student Section in Connecticut. The Tiger Den had to make a strong impression in order to be at the top of the state for the Fall Student Section Rankings. It is going to take a strong Instagram marketing game that requires showing off their Student Section and possibly even more. This state is super deep with great Student Sections.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for Connecticut, it’s Morgan Dawgpound. The Dawgpound made it to the Top 5 last year, but they didn’t really promote their Student Section on Instagram as much as others. If they want another Top 5 or maybe the top spot, they’ll need to show off the Dawgpound on social media on a consistent basis!

  

  Will the Dawgpound prove themselves once again or will the Tiger Den hold down their Fall title in The Constitution State? Let’s find out.

  1. Northwest Catholic Belly (2024 Rank: 3)

  The Belly looks like contenders for the top spot, but they’ll need to show off their Student Section a lot more than they did last year on Instagram. When you have a Student Section like that, you better show it off. If they stay consistent in that department, they’ll finish at the top spot!

  2025 MASSACHUSETTS FALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGSSeptember 3, 2025

  I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

  This past season, we several more Student Sections, including some big powerhouse ones that not only will be a top dawg in their state, but will be a big player in the National side!

  We discovered some powerhouse Student Sections last year in Massachusetts. It has now become a much bigger battle to break in the Top 10 in this state. One of the more improved states and one of the better ones in the nation when it comes to Student Sections. This state is deep in Student Section powers!

  Last Football season, we had the Natick Hawks Nest as the top Football Student Section in Massachusetts. The Hawks Nest looks like a fantastic Student Section and I know that because they love to show off their Student Section on Instagram. It will take that and more in 2025 as this state has a lot of strong Student Sections.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for Massachusetts, it’s Xavierian Brothers Hawks Nest. I don’t think I give the Hawks Nest enough credit. Yes, this state is loaded with great Student Sections, but the Hawks Nest gets overlooked a bit. Definitely need to give more love to the Hawks Nest. If they rock their Student Section on Instagram on a consistent basis, we may see this Hawks Nest at the top spot.

  

  Will the Rage keep moving up the rankings or will the Hawks Nest defend their top ranking in The Old Colony State? Let’s find out.

  2025 MASSACHUSETTS FALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGS

  1. St. John’s Prep (2024 Rank: 2)

  We found St. John’s Prep right at the end of the football season and came away super impressed. This isn’t just one of the best Student Sections in Massachusetts, this is one of the best in the Nation. In order to be one of the country’s best, St. John’s Prep will have to continue to show off their Student Section on Instagram and I think they will do that and take the top spot in 2025!

  For awhile, we had a hard time figuring out this state, but we have discovered a good number of solid Student Sections in this state. This fall is going to be very interesting as we see several Student Sections battle for the top spot while also discovering more Student Sections in this state.

  Last Football season, we had the Nashua North as the top Football Student Section in New Hampshire. Nashua North repeated as Fall Student Section Champions. It will take a whole lot more to get a threepeat with some great Student Section showing off their school spirit on Instagram.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for New Hampshire, it’s Pinkerton Academy Astro Machine. The Pinkerton football is one of the best in the state, so that should be a pretty good reason for this Student Section to rock the stands, but this is a fantastic Student Section regardless. We hope they continue to show off their Student Section in 2025.

  2025 NEW HAMPSHIRE FALL TOP 25 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGS

  1. Nashua North (2024 Rank: 1)

  Nashua North has one of the larger Student Sections, but it will have to take more than the size of the Student Section to remain at the top for the third year in a row. Nashua North will have to rock Instagram and show off their Student Section. If they prove it on social media, we could see a threepeat in 2025.

  We thought this would be a difficult state when it came to looking for Student Section, but we found a big number of them this past year. We have a couple Student Sections that are pretty similar that will battle for the top spot. Should be a fun one to watch this Fall.

  Last Football season, we had the Thornton Academy as the top Football Student Section in Maine. Thornton Academy basically finished at the top thanks to showing off on Instagram. They’re a crazy bunch of students that will look to rinse and repeat. If they return with the same insane Student Section, we hope we get to see it on Instagram!

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for Maine, it’s Greely. Greely went from unranked to Top 10 and I have a feeling this isn’t a fluke. This looks like a fantastic Student Section that has the potential to keep moving up in the rankings if they promote their Student Section on Instagram.

  2025 MAINE FALL TOP 20 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGS

  1. Kennebunk (2024 Rank: 3)

  Kennebunk is consistent on Instagram when it comes to showing off their Student Section and only a couple Student Sections are as consistent as Kennebunk. In order to finish at the top, Kennebunk needs to not miss nor skip a beat when it comes to showing off their Student Sections and their fun themes!

  Last Football season, we had the Cranston West Red Storm as the top Football Student Section in Rhode Island. They worked their social media magic to show off their fantastic Student Section and I hope it doesn’t stop. This looks like a fantastic Student Section and they have a chance at repeating at number one.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for Rhode Island, it’s Mt. Hope Dog Pound. The Dog Pound went from unranked to the Top 10 and I don’t think this will be a fluke. This Student Section can hang with the powers here and have a Student Section that can steal the show and take the top spot. If they promote their Student Section on social media, then they’ll keep moving up.

  

  Will the Dog Pound keep moving up the rankings or will the Red Storm defend their top ranking in The Smallest State? Let’s find out.

  2025 RHODE ISLAND FALL TOP 20 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGS

  1. Cranston West Red Storm (2024 Rank: 1)

  This will be a battle for Red Storm to repeat at number one, but they’ll be up for it and they have to with a solid Student Section like theirs. If they continue to promote their Student Section on Instagram, they’ll hold on to their top rank, but we have some Student Sections that will go after them for the top spot. Perhaps a storm is coming?

  If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

  Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion. 

  We continue with the 2025 Fall Student Section Season with a preview of Vermont.

  Vermont is still tough to figure out, but we are slowly discovering Student Sections here. We did find some solid Student Sections this past year and hope that trend continues in 2025.

  Last Football season, we had the Colchester Laker Nation as the top Football Student Section in Vermont. Last year we had the Laker Nation as the Student Section to lookout for and it looks like we were right. If they can improve on showing off their Student Section on Instagram, then we will see them at number one in 2025.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for Vermont, it’s Rice Memorial Green Knights Castle. The Knights Castle showed up big last Winter with one of the best Student Sections in Vermont, but they were nowhere to be seen last Fall on Instagram. If they promote and show off their Student Section often on Instagram, they’ll get the recognition they deserve all school year as one of the best Student Sections in the state.

  

  Will the Green Knights Castle duplicate what they did this past Winter or will the Laker Nation hold the top spot in The Green Mountain State? Let’s find out.

  2025 NEW YORK FALL TOP 40 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGSAugust 21, 2025

  In 2015, yours truly began covering Student Sections in Orange County, California. We expanded to Southern California in 2017 and in 2021, we added four more states and added 15 more states. We went to 40 states two years ago.

  We went to all 50 states in winter of 2023 and now we add our friends from the North in Canada on top of dividing Texas into two regions, similar to what we did with California. No one has ever done that before…until now!

  This is still a one-man operation for the most part, but we have some help with some partners on Instagram like good friends at OC Student Sections and Stadium Geeks with help from Maryland Student Section Rater, NorCal Student Sections and many more.

  This year we plan to get several “barstool” pages that showcase Student Sections in their states. Some of those pages were very helpful last year as we get more accurate with our rankings.

  This is a state we have had a tough time when it comes to discovering Student Sections, but we did find some more Student Sections this past year and expect to find some more this fall. The huge plus side is that we will be checking out a Student Section in mid-October, but we don’t know which Student Section to checkout. Hopefully we see a Student Section near Long Island that is fire where we are confident enough to visit!

  Last Football season, we had the Christian Brothers Academy of Syracuse as the top Football Student Section in New York. It will be tough to repeat, but only because it is an open field in this state. We have yet to find a super power Student Section in New York, so it is fair game for everyone. Maybe CBA will be the first powerhouse Student Section in New York.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that while they aren’t ranked super high or weren’t ranked high last year, they’re a Student Section to lookout for and for New York, it’s the Liverpool Tribe. The Tribe is a Student Section we discovered last year and they immediately made a great impression. They consistently show off their school spirit on Instagram and have become of the potential powerhouse Student Sections in the state. If they don’t skip a beat and perhaps even improve on social media, the Tribe can take the top spot.

  1. Bishop Feehan Fanatics (2024 Rank: 22)

  You don’t really see a Student Section pack the stands for a girls basketball game on a consistent basis and that is a shame because it can be a physical game on the ladies side, but Bishop Feehan are really a bunch of Fanatics and go nut for whatever sport they are cheering for, including girls basketball (we just checked, Top 5 girls basketball program in the state, they’re legit!) The Fanatics went nuts and I’m sure they rattled some opposing teams! They definitely rattled the Student Section in the voting section in Massachusetts and in the National Voting Bracket as they made it to the Elite 8 where they lost a close one to the eventual National Champions. It was an amazing run and an amazing school year for this Student Section as the Bishop Feehan Fanatics is your 2024-2025 Massachusetts Winter Student Section of the Year!

  1. East Haven Hive (2024 Rank: NR)

  In what is considered the best state for the Winter Student Section, it is hard to be the best when you have Student Sections that are just as crazy as you, but the Hive packed the stands and stood out not just in the stands, but in the voting booth. The Hive battled and with a state loaded with Student Section talent, had the top seed in the Student Section playoffs.

  The Hive had a great run in the Student Section playoffs, but fell short. While they didn’t get the National Title, one thing is for sure, the East Haven Hive is the 2024-2025 Connecticut Winter Student Section Champions.

  “It took a lot to get started at the beginning, but once we eventually started bringing everybody back together, it started to all come together. We also had other schools also coming in to join our Student Section. We would love to give a shout out to the Morgan Dog Pound and Sheehan Titan Pit for all of their help during the winter season.”

  The time has come to start ranking 50 states that we covered this football season. 

  To say I’m overwhelmed with the work that comes along with this is a huge huge understatement.

  We had 10 Student Section of the Week winners in Massachusetts and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

  Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want it and marketing is key. 

  You will see top-notch Student Sections miss out at the top spot, but we kept saying it over and over and over again, in order to be considered number one, you have to win the Student Section of the Week title. Otherwise, what is the point of having that contest?!

  I know Student Sections complain but remember it’s thousands of Student Sections and only me. Social media is your friend if used correctly.

  A Student Section that doesn’t post videos or photos of there Student Section on a consistent basis is like a tree falling with no one around. It doesn’t make any noise.

  This is our second year covering Football Student Sections in Massachusetts. We had Malden Catholic Pit win it in 2023.

  We are discovering some Student Sections here. Some of them made some moves up in the rankings in Massachusetts.

  We will have 5 Student Sections in Massachusetts that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.

  2024 MASSACHUSETTS FINAL TOP 40 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Natick Hawks Nest (2023 Rank: 2)

  The Nest bounced right back and did a tremendous job in promoting and showing off their Student Section this fall. They shared every chance they got and they won one of the National Student Section of the Week titles. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, they’re the 2024 Massachusetts Football Student Section of the Year!

  2. St. John’s Prep (2023 Rank: 27)

  We made an edit. While we didn’t find their main source for Student Section marketing, we couldn’t ignore St. John’s. Shoe in for a Top 5 finish and we can expect them to battle in the Winter Rankings. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.

  4. Newburyport (2023 Rank: NR)

  Newburyport goes from unranked to not only a Top 5 finish in the Student Section Rankings, but they will also be getting ready for the voting in the National Student Section playoffs on Monday!

  1. Cranston West Red Storm (2023 Rank: 3)

  The Red Storm has one of the larger Student Sections in the state, but they also look like one of the rowdiest ones as well. They showed of their school spirit and I don’t blame them. We’ll see if the Red Storm can make some noise when they vote in the National Football Student Section playoffs, but for now, they’re the 2024 Rhode Island Football Student Section of the Year!

  Social media improved this fall and from the looks of it, CBA showed off their Student Section every week with a bunch of fun themes. They definitely rocked it this year.   The Tiger Den packed the stands this season and I definitely enjoyed the Halloween Theme. This is a Student Section that loves to show off their school spirit on social media and for that, they got their reward! We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon, but for now, they’re the 2024 Connecticut Football Student Section of the Year!

  The time has come to start ranking 50 states that we covered this football season. 

  To say I’m overwhelmed with the work that comes along with this is a huge huge understatement.

  We had 10 Student Section of the Week winners in New Hampshire and that helped us determine who had the best Student Section and which ones wanted it more.

  Just showing up in large crowds isn’t enough. It might fool other outlets that don’t cover Student Sections, but not us. We have to know how bad you want it and marketing is key. 

  You will see top-notch Student Sections miss out at the top spot, but we kept saying it over and over and over again, in order to be considered number one, you have to win the Student Section of the Week title. Otherwise, what is the point of having that contest?!

  I know Student Sections complain but remember it’s thousands of Student Sections and only me. Social media is your friend if used correctly.

  A Student Section that doesn’t post videos or photos of there Student Section on a consistent basis is like a tree falling with no one around. It doesn’t make any noise.

  This is our second year covering Football Student Sections in New Hampshire. We had Nashua North win it in 2023.

  This is a state that isn’t crazy deep with Student Sections, but you will see some fantastic Student Sections here. The top spot for New Hampshire was pretty wide open this fall.

  We will have 2 Student Sections in New Hampshire that will be voting in the Student Section playoffs that will begin soon.

  So, let’s see who made the list and who is the best in the Granite State.

  2024 NEW HAMPSHIRE FINAL TOP 20 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  RED = PLAYOFF BOUND

  1. Nashua North (2023 Rank: 1)

  It was a landslide like last year, but Nashua North is back on top! They pack the stands and were more than consistent on Instagram when it came to showing off their Student Section. The White Out Theme seemed to be the highlight of the season. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start in a few days, but for now, they’re the back-to-back New Hampshire Football Student Section Champions!

  

  2. Bishop Guertin Nest (2023 Rank: 3)

  The Nest can pack the stands better than anyone! They were one of the first Student Sections that caught our eye in New Hampshire. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs that start pretty soon.

  3. Spaulding Red Nation (2023 Rank: NR)

  The Hawks Nest showed off their Student Section several times this season and you can’t blame them. Their marketing got them a Top 5 finish.

  2024 MAINE FINAL TOP 20 FOOTBALL STUDENT SECTION RANKINGS

  1. Thornton Academy (2023 Rank: 11)

  Thornton Academy Student Section was insane this season, but this is protocol for them. They showed off their Student Section on Instagram consistently and it paid off. We’ll see how they’ll fare in the National Student Section playoffs, but for now, they are the Maine Football Student Section Champions!

  One of the more consistent Student Sections in the state, Oxford Hills almost came away with back-to-back Maine Student Section titles.

  I know that Student Sections have a lot of work to do to get the students to the games to cheer on their classmates and go along with the theme and make sure they don’t cause trouble. These student sections deserve recognition.

  We will kick off the Student Section season with Preseason Football Student Section Rankings. REMEMBER, this is a PREVIEW. It is merely a prediction. The real rankings come out in November or December. 

  If you feel your student section isn’t ranked high enough or not ranked at all, let us know and we’ll keep a close eye on them.

  Every week, we will also have Student Section of the Week for each state. Once you win Student Section of the Week, you can’t win it again, but you still have to battle for the top spot in your state and perhaps the Nation as we will also name a Football Student Section National Champion. 

  We continue with the 2024 Football Student Section Season with a preview of Connecticut.

  For awhile, we had a hard time figuring out this state, but we have discovered some solid Student Sections. This fall is going to be very interesting as we see several Student Sections battle for the top spot.

  Last Football season, we had the Newtown Hawks Nest as the top Football Student Section in Connecticut. The Hawks Nest was phenomenal last fall and they battled for a National Football Student Section Championship. It will be a challenge for an encore, but if the Hawks Nest does what they did last year on Instagram, they can repeat.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Connecticut, we have to go with Masuk Red Army. The Red Army might look like a top contender for the top spot in Connecticut. They have already shown off their school spirit on Instagram. If they can keep doing that, they could take down the toughest Student Section opponent.

  

  Will the Belly take the top spot in the state or will the Hawks Nest take another one in the Constitution State? Let’s find out.

A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Rhode Island, we have to go with Cranston West Red Storm. The Red Storm might be the toughest contender for the state title, but it will take a lot to convince us they are the better Student Section in the state. They’ll have to show off their Student Section on Instagram on a weekly basis.

  

  Will the Red Storm take the top spot in the state or will Bishop Hendricken take another one in the Smallest State? Let’s find out.

  2024 RHODE ISLAND FOOTBALL TOP 20 STUDENT SECTION PRESEASON RANKINGS

  This looks like an easy choice and I expect a repeat in Rhode Island. This is of course anyone’s game, but this is the Student Section that post their school spirit on Instagram on a daily basis and more so than other Student Sections.   This is one of the more difficult states when it comes to discovering Student Sections. We hope this is the year we find some solid Student Sections in this state. New York has a lot of potential.

  Last Football season, we had the Shaker Barnyard as the top Football Student Section in New York. The Barnyard has proven that not only are they a solid Student Section, but that they want the top spot and are willing to let us know about it. If they can keep showing off their school spirit on Instagram, we will see a repeat champion.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for New York, we have to go with Guilderland Red Sea. This is a Student Section that is can hang with the best of them and if they show off on Instagram and prove to us that they can hang with the best or perhaps be the best, they’ll finish where they want to be at.

  

  Will the Red Sea take the top spot in the state or will the Barnyard take another one in the Empire State? Let’s find out.

  The Barnyard is looking to repeat and all signs point to a repeat. You just don’t see a lot of Student Sections in New York that show it off as much as them with such a good showing in the stands. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for New Hampshire, we have to go with Pinkerton Academy Astro Machine . The Astro Machine can hang with the very best in the state, but they have to show us that they are consistently the best by posting photos and videos of their Student Section on Instagram. If they can do that, they may take the top spot in the state by the end of fall.

  The Northeastern State we have had a hard time figuring out and discovering Student Sections, but we’ve shockingly found some Student Sections in Massachusetts and we hope to find some more this fall.

  Last Football season, we had the Malden Catholic Pit as the top Football Student Section in Massachusetts. The Pit got by the top spot last season and they hope to repeat, but some Student Sections in this state are going to battle and dethrone the Pit. It can be done, so the Pit has to be ready this fall.

  In each state, we will name one student section to look out for. A student section that doesn’t get talked about a lot by us or others and for Massachusetts, we have to go with Durfee. This is a Student Section that is small, but I feel in time with some more promoting of their Student Section on social media, they can end at the top part of the rankings as one of the best in the state.

  

  Will Durfee take the top spot in the state or will the Pit take another one in the Old Colony State? Let’s find out.
